Abstract

Munculnya radikalisme, terorisme dan konflik-konflik yang bersifat vertikal maupun horizontal berlatar belakang sosial, keagamaan dan lainnya selama ini, sebenarnya lebih banyak disebabkan oleh faktor dari diri dalam manusianya itu sendiri. Manusia telah melanggar dan sudah tidak memiliki etika dalam pergaulan dan berkehidupan. Manusia telah kehilangan jati diri sebagai pengemban amanah atau kholifah di bumi, telah kehilangan rasa kasih sayang, keadilan, dan tidak mampu menahan dan mawas diri, sehingga hal inilah yang melahirkan keberingasan, menghalalkan segala cara untuk mencapai apa yang diinginkan. Untuk itu, sebagai upaya meredam persoalan ini, dibutuhkan sebuah etika global, yang bisa dijadikan sebagai pegangan dalam berkehidupan. Dan dalam kaitan ini, etika Islam dari sudut tasawuf perspektif Hamka bisa dijadikan sebagai acuan dalam membangun perdamaian dan sebagai resolusi konflik.

Abstract

Conversation as the result of social interactions. It was constructed by culture, context and language. These phenomena related to Ethnography, the analyze of structural and organizational in language and culture. These were drawing a pattern, this schema of patternin conversationwasunpredictable,it distributed based on thetopics which used by participants. The aims of this research were drawing pattern and analyzing the topics in conversation. Dataanalyzedthroughethnography methodology incommunication. Whether the result showed thatthe conditionswere quite differenttothe theory.Firstispattern oftopic change informalconversationquite differenttothepreviousstudy andtheory.Second was the topics used in formal conversation controlled by the dominant participant, there were affected by the social status and context. These results may affectedby thecontext and setting of the conversation.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the competency of post-graduate students of English Language Faculty UNIB academic year 2017-2018 in identifying intrinsic elements of the short story ?A Rose for Emily?. The method used on this research is descriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted in May - June 2018 and the instruments used were essay tests. The results showed that the average score of competency was 64.68. The percentage of students who got the highest score, A is 18.75%, for B score is 18.75%, the C score is 43.75% and for the E score is 6.25%. From this study, it concludes that the competency of post-graduate students of English Language Faculty UNIB academic year 2017-2018 in identifying intrinsic elements of the short story ?A Rose for Emily? is rather good although there are some other aspects of competency that can be used optimally.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang kesenian tradisional tari Gubang  pada masyarakat Kecamatan Jemaja. Pada masa lalu kesenian tradisonal tari Gubang ini sangat diminati oleh seluruh kalangan masyarakat.Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menjawab  pertanyaan yang diajukan dalam rumusan masalah yaitu, untuk  menganalisis kesenian tradisional tari Gubang pada masyarakat  Jemaja. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan cara observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan cara pengumpulan data, reduksi data, display data, serta kesimpulan dan verufikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan  bahwa kesenian tari Gubang ini dipercaya oleh masyarakat Jemaja erat kaitannya dengan orang Bunian atau makhluk halus. Ada tiga unsur pendukung dari kesenian tradisional tari Gubang ini yang pertama alat musik Gubang, kedua lagu pengiring Gubang, ketiga penari Gubang. Penampilan atau pementasan kesenian tradisional tari Gubang memiliki makna dan fungsi selamatan sesuai dengan undangan yang didapatkan oleh pemain tari Gubang. Eksistensi kesenian tradisional tari Gubang, banyak terjadi perubahan, perubahan yang terjadi bukan pada Gubangnya, melainkan faktor perubahan terjadi akibat dari minat masyarakatnya Jemaja yang sudah mengukiti kecanggihan zaman dan melupakan eksistensi warisan Lokal, sehingga membuat Gubang semakin tertinggakan dan membuat para seniman Gubang semakin berkurang.

Abstract

The use of  ICT in learning is rarely found particularly in areas with low literacy. Like a high school teacher at Bengkulu City, they do not use ICT in learning, especially they whom  with over the age of 40 years old. The lact of fasilitators  also make difficult to reach innovative  learning with high quality. Thus, It absolutely needs counseling and training on ICT. This training aims not only to give guidance on ICT, but also to move the teachers  for using ICT as a medium of professional learning  in their class routines. This training used the method of  lectures, discussions and practice with the participatns of 20 teachers at Anggut Atas Village, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City on all subjects.  The results of this training indicated  that the use of ICT on learning suach as Mobile-Asissted Language Learning (MALL) ataupun Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) could be received and actualized by the teachers at Anggut  Atas Village, Gading Cempaka District, Bengkulu City. This training can be concluded that implementation of ICT  with the existance of facilitators  are very needed in developing innovative and efficient learning with high quality.

Abstract

The aims of this study were to investigate English teachers’ perceptions in implementing Project-Based Learning and to analyze the English teachers’ challenges of implementing Project-Based Learning in Secondary Schools in Bengkulu City. 16 English teachers in Senior High Schools and 14 English teachers in Junior High Schools who have implemented Project-Based Learning in their class served as participants in this study. An explanatory sequential mixed method research applied to investigate the teachers’ perceptions in implementing Project-Based Learning for gathering quantitative data by using Questionnaire in the first phase. Then, in collecting qualitative data to analyze the challenges of the implementation of Project-Based Learning in English classroom, the researcher conducted interview which explained the result in the first phase. There are a total of 30 questions on the questionnaire, all of which pertain the internal factors and the external factors, also the challenges which affected the English teachers’ perceptions in Secondary School. The findings of this study suggested English teachers’ perceptions and challenges in implementing Project-Based Learning in Secondary Schools had a positive response. Meanwhile, the English teachers’ challenges are caused by the limited of time and of  knowledge, the management of class, and the situation of pandemic.

Abstract

Culture is a way of life or outlook that applies in a particular region or community. Through culture, a person will gain an understanding of diverse intercultural matters. This research analyzed the foreign cultural representation in English compulsory textbooks for the 10th-grade students of the senior high school published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia as an introduction to culture to Indonesian students. This research used a mixed method by using a descriptive approach. The data was collected through analysis of the content in pictures, images, passages, charts, and everything in English textbooks that related to foreign culture representation. Next, data was analyzed by compiling based on the types of culture, dissembling the different types of culture, re-assembling culture based on the right type, interpreting, and concluding. The results showed that the foreign cultural representation on English compulsory textbook consists of four cultural aspects, they are aspect of product culture, aspect of practice culture, aspect of perspective culture, and aspect of person culture. Based on the research results, English teachers must provide a good understanding of foreign cultures to students so they can gain insight into intercultural competence.

Abstract

This research is aimed at finding out the interactional patterns in the synchronous online teaching mode at the third semester of English Department at University of Bengkulu. This research employed a descriptive quantitative research. The subjects of this research were class C of third semester of English Department consisting of 36 students and one lecturer who teaching online by using Google Meet as the synchronous platform. The data of this research were three audiovisual records which were recorded by the lecturer. The data were identified by using the identification table of IRF pattern of interaction based on Coulthard (2002) and analyzed based on the IRF model of Sinclair and Coulthard (1975) as the ideal pattern. The first finding showed that the most occurred pattern employed by the lecturer is IRF pattern as complete pattern, and there are also IR pattern as semi complete pattern, and IF as incomplete pattern. The second finding showed that the elicitation act is the most frequently occurred act in the classroom interaction. It could be concluded this classroom can be stated as a good interaction because the lecturer gave the same opportunities to the students to initiate in the discussion, so the students were active giving initiations.

Abstract

Banjir menempati posisi pertama dengan 591 kasus berdasarkan informasi dari BNPB (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana) per tahun 2022. Desa Cendi Manik merupakan salah satu desa di NTB yang sering mengalami bencana banjir. Salah satu penyebab banjir adalah sangat rendahnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang SOP bencana banjir di Desa Cendi Manik terutama dikalangan remaja. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan KKN ini adalah untuk menjawab isu yang berkaitan dengan bencana banjir melalui upaya pendidikan dan pelatihan mitigasi bencana banjir di Desa Cendi Manik. Metode Kegiatan yang dilakukan secara garis besar meliputi sosialisasi yang dimulai dari tahap persiapan yaitu observasi lapangan. Program kerja KKN dibagi menjadi 3 kegiatan berdasarkan siklus terjadinya bencana, diantaranya tindakan sebelum terjadinya banjir (mitigasi), saat terjadinya, dan pascabencana banjir. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah meningkatknya kesadaran serta pengetahuan masyarakat akan bencana banjir mulai dari tindakan apa saja yang harus dilakukan sebelum terjadinya banjir, tindakan saat terjadinya banjir, dan tindakan pascabencana banjir. Selain itu, meningkatnya pengetahuan dan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai cara pemilahan dan pengolahan sampah, serta penerapan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) saat banjir. Disamping itu, hasil dari kegiatan ini berupa tersedianya peta rawan bencana khususnya bencana banjir dan plang (rambu-rambu) kebencanaan sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat desa Cendi Manik terhadap bencana banjir. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan KKN ini telah mampu menjawab masalah banjir yang terjadi di desa Cendi Manik.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describes the types of figurative language found in English selected videos from TikTok application. And also, tried to find out the functions of figurative language in these selected videos. A descriptive qualitative was undertaken to investigate the research question in this study. The result of the study showed that there are eleven types of figurative language found in these videos. Including simile, personification, apostrophe, synecdoche, metonymy, symbol, allegory, paradox, hyperbole, understatement and irony. Simile, synecdoche, symbol, allegory, and paradox are the dominant type found in the selected videos. Meanwhile there are five functions of figurative language discovered through the videos consist of referential function, expressive function, conative function, poetic function and phatic function. The poetic function is the most one used in the selected videos. The use of figurative language in some selected videos from TikTok application it might contains beatify meaning and also non literal meaning. Some creators of the videos used figurative language to share their opinion about love, live, daily life and also sensitive topic.
