Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian vitamin E terhadap kadar malondialdehid plasma pada tikus Wistar yang diberi pakan lemak tinggi. Tigapuluh ekor tikus umur 3 bulan dengan berat badan berkisar antara 182-250 gram, dibagi secara acak menjadi 6 kelompok masing-masing 5 ekor. Kelompok 1 diberi pakan basal (kontrol), kelompok II diberi pakan lemak tinggi dan vitamin E 301U, kelompok 111 pakan lemak tinggi dan vitamin E 60 11.1, kelompok IV diberi pakan lemak tinggi dan vitamin E 120 1U, kelompok V diberi pakan lemak tinggi dan vitamin E 240 IU, kelompok VI diberi pakan lemak tinggi dan vitamin E 480 IU, ad libitum selama 12 minggu. Sebelum perlakuan darah diambil dan semua tikus untuk pemeriksaan kadar MDA plasma dan vitamin E serum. Pemeriksaan darah diulang pada akhir perlakuan. Analisis MDA plasma dilakukan dengan spektrofotometer dan analisis vitamin E serum dengan HPLC. Dart basil analisis statistik menggunakan pola faktorial yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Dunner s menunjukkan bahwa.pemberian vitamin E sebanyak 120 IU (kel. Abstract

Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. is a plant containing curcumin. Curcumin has been shown toreduce oxidative damage and memory deficits associated with aging. The aim of the researchwas to know the effect of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome ethanol extract to memoryfunction on Wistar rats induced by trimethyltin. The research design was post test onlycontrolled group with 42 rats divided into 6 groups, Each group consist of 7 rats. Group I(healthy controls) were given a solution of 0.5% CMC-Na orally. Group II (negative control)were given a solution of 0.5% CMC-Na orally. Group III, IV, and V were given Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. extract each 120 mg/kgBW, 240 mg/kgBW, and 480 mg/kgBW orally.Group VI (positive control) were given piracetam 500 mg/kgBW intraperitoneally. All groupswere given trimethyltin intraperitoneally except group I. Data indicating memory function wereobtained from radial maze test and passive avoidance test. Radial maze test data were analyzedby ANOVA followed by LSD test, while the passive avoidance test data were analyzed with theKruskal Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney test. In conclusion, ethanol extract oftemulawak rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) at doses of 120 mg/kgBW, 240 mg/kgBWand 480 mg/kgBW can prevent memory function decline on Wistar rats induced bytrimethyltin.

Abstract

Turmeric Extract Tablet Formulation (Curcuma Longa L) As An Anti-Dementia CandidateTurmeric (Curcuma longa L) is an herbal plant commonly used as a cooking spice to provide a savory taste and an attractive color. Moreover, it is also used in the field of medicine due to its curcumin bioactive compounds which are useful as anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotectors for dementia. Therefore, this research aims to formulate turmeric extract tablets that meets physical test standards using the wet granulation method. The extract tablet formulation was made into three formulas, namely F1, F2 and F3, where the composition of aerosol, lactose, gelatin and distilled water of the three formulas was designed based on the results of the parameters in sequence. The printed tablets were then tested using a disintegration, dual friability and hardness tester to determine the disintegration time, brittleness, hardness, as well as uniformity of weight and size. The F3 formulation with the composition of turmeric extract (15 g), aerosol (35 g), lactose (12.8 g), gelatin (0.5 g), magnesium stearate (1%) and aquadest (200 ml) fulfilled the standard physical tablet requirements. Furthermore, the results of repeated tablets (three times) obtained values namely weight (0.616 ± 0.355 mg), diameter (1.334 ± 0.280 cm), thickness (0.518 ± 0.039), friability (0.065 ± 0.074%), hardness (4.635 ± 0.234 kg)) and time destroyed (9,918 ± 4,386). Therefore, based on the results, the F3 turmeric extract tablet formulation shows the quality which meets the tablet physical test standards.Keywords  : Curcumin, Dementia, Turmeric Extract Tablets, Wet GranulationKunyit (Curcuma longa L) merupakan tanaman herbal yang sering digunakan sebagai bumbu masak yang dapat memberikan rasa gurih dan warna yang menarik. Selain itu, kunyit juga dapat dimanfaatkan dalam bidang obat-obatan karena ia mengandung senyawa bioaktiv kurkumin yang bermanfaat sebagai anti oksidan, anti peradangan dan neuroprotektor untuk demensia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan tablet ekstrak kunyit yang memenuhi standar uji fisik dengan menggunakan metode granulasi basah. Formulasi tablet ekstrak kunyit dibuat ke dalam tiga formula yaitu F1, F2 dan F3, dimana komposisi aerosol, laktosa, gelatin dan aquades dari ketiga formula tersebut dirancang dengan mempertimbangkan hasil dari pengujian parameter tablet ekstrak kunyit secara urut. Tablet ekstrak kunyit yang telah dicetak kemudian diuji menggunakan alat disintegration tester, dual friability tester dan hardness tester untuk menentukan waktu hancur, kerapuhan, kekerasan, keseragaman bobot dan keseragaman ukuran. Tablet ekstrak kunyit pada formulasi F3 dengan komposisi ekstrak kunyit (15 g), aerosol (35 g), laktosa (12,8 g), gelatin (0.5 g), magnesium stearate (1%) dan aquadest (200 ml) memenuhi persyaratan uji fisik standar tablet. Hasil replikasi (tiga kali) dari tablet tersebut diperoleh nilai bobot (0,616 ± 0,355 mg), diameter (1,334 ± 0,280 cm), tebal (0,518 ± 0,039), kerapuhan (0,065 ± 0,074 %), kekerasan (4,635 ± 0,234 kg) dan waktu hancur (9,918 ± 4,386). Tablet ekstrak kunyit dengan Formulasi F3 ini menunjukkan kualitas yang memenuhi standar uji fisik tablet.Kata kunci: Kurkumin, Demensia, Tablet Ekstrak Kunyit, Granulasi Basah

Abstract

Daun jarak pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) mengandung beberapa senyawa aktif, seperti alkaloid, saponin, tannin, terpenoid, steroid, glikosida, senyawa fenol, dan flavonoid yang diduga dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida dalam serum darah, sehingga dapat mencegah keadaan hipertrigliseridemia. Penelitian  ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas penurunan kadar trigliserida serum setelah pemberian ekstrak etanol daun jarak pagar (EEDJP) variasi dosis pada tikus hipertensi yang diinduksi dengan NaCl dan diberi pakan lemak tinggi. Penelitian eksperimental dengan pre-posttest control group design terhadap tikus jantan galur Wistar. Tikus dibagi menjadi 7 kelompok, yaitu  kelompok normal, kontrol (diinduksi NaCl dan diberi pakan  tinggi lemak), Captopril, Simvastatin, EEDJP dosis 1,8 g/KgBB, 2,7 g/KgBB, 4,05 g/KgBB. Analisis kadar trigliserida serum dengan metode GPO- PAP. Data dianalisis   dengan uji One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, Homogenity of Variances, One-Way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis, dan Mann-Whitney. Induksi NaCl dan pemberian pakan lemak tinggi dapat meningkatkan kadar trigliserida serum yang signifikan (p<0,050). Pemberian EEDJP dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida serum yang signifikan (p<0,050) pada semua variasi dosis. Kesimpulannya EEDJP dapat menurunkan kadar trigliserida secara signifikan pada dosis 1,8 g/KgBB, 2,7 g/KgBB, 4,05 g/KgBB.

Abstract

Spirulina (Spirulina platensis) and golden sea cucumber (Stichopus variegatus) are known to have antioxidant activity that has the potential to prevent neurodegeneration disease. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of the combination of spirulina and golden sea cucumber on Bcl2 gene expression in pyramidal hippocampus cells of trimethyltin-induced dementia (TMT) rats. The study used Sprague Dawley rats  which were divided into 6 groups, namely the normal control group (CMC-Na and NaCl 0.9%), pain control (CMC-Na and TMT), positive control (citicoline dose 200 mg / kg and TMT) and test control injected with TMT and given a combination of spirulina and golden sea cucumber dose 200 mg/KgBB with three ratios namely 3: 1, 1: 1 and 1: 3. Extract and citicoline were given on day 1 to day 28, while TMT injection was given a single dose of 8 mg/KgBB on day 8. On the 36th day the rats were sacrificed, brains were removed and the right hemispherium cerebri was fed to 10% formalin in pbs. After 6 days the hippocampus was separated for immunohistochemical observation. The test result data was statistically analyzed with a one-way ANOVA test then followed by post hoc tukey to see the differences between groups. Results showed the combination of spirulina and golden sea cucumber can increase the expression of the Bcl2 gene in the hippocampus. The combination of spirulina and golden sea cucumber (ST1: 3) dose of 200 mg / kg body weight was able to increase hippocampus Bcl2 expression with the number of Bcl2 cell expression almost the same as citicoline in both CA1 and CA2-CA3 regions.

Abstract

Buah kalangkala (Litsea angulata Blume) adalah tanaman yang sering digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional Kalimantan dan telah dilaporkan mengandung senyawa fenolik dan flavonoid. Biji kalangkala telah dimamfaatkan masyarakat Kalimantan untuk mengobati bisul, antioksidan dan antidiabetes. Beberapa penelitian mengatakan bahwa senyawa yang berperan pada aktivitas tersebut adalah senyawa flavonoid. Penelitian inin bertujuan untuk mendapatkan data kadar flavonoid dalam biji kalangkala. Berdasarkan kadar kuersetin strandar. Ekstraksi menggunakan metode maserasi sebagai pelarutnya adalah etanol 96%. Penetapan kadar flavonoid total menggunakan metode spektrofotometri UV-Vis dengan larutan pembanding kuersetin. Kualitatif analisis menggunakan FeCl3 dengan membentuk kompleks hijau. Penentuan kandungan total flavonoid dilakukan berdasarkan Metode AlCl3 dengan total flavonoid dinyatakan dalam QE (Quercetin setara) pada panjang gelombang maksimum 435 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata kandungan total flavonoid sebesar 6,2728 mgQE/g ekstrak.

Abstract

Background: One of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CAHD) is dyslipidaemia or high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and triglycerides (TG) and low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Hypertension is also a cause of cardiovascular disease. One potential plant to lower LDL levels and blood pressure is Jatropha curcas, which is known to contain saponins, polyphenols, and flavonoids. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the ethanol extract of Jatropha curcas leaves (EEJCL) on blood pressure, LDL levels, and HDL levels in hypertensive rats given a high-fat diet. Methods: This study is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design on male Wistar strain rats. Rats were divided into seven groups, namely the normal group, control group (induced with NaCl and given a high-fat diet), Captopril group, Simvastatin group, and EEJCL groups given doses of 1.8, 2.7, and 4.05 g/kg BW. The data obtained were analysed using the One-Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, Homogeneity of Variance, One-Way ANOVA, and Tukey Test. Results: The results showed that the administration of EEJCL could significantly lower LDL levels and blood pressure and increase HDL levels (p < 0.05) at doses of 1.8, 2.7, and 4.05 g/kg BW, and the dose of 4.05 g/KgBW was the most optimal dose. Conclusion: EEJCL has a potential for development in the treatment of hypertension and dyslipidaemia.

Abstract

Transdermal drug delivery systems increase the effectiveness of a drug substance, and one of them is a microemulsion. Moringa oil has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial activity. The purpose of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis research on moringa oil formulated as microemulsions. A total of 5 English articles from the Scopus databases from 2012 to 2023 US sources were used in the bibliometrics analysis of Moringa oleifera seeds oil related to microemulsions. The bibliometrics analysis shows research trends, including the most used keywords depicted in visualizations using the VOSViewer application, article publishers, affiliations, and the author's country of origin. The most used keywords are microemulsions, microemulsion, Moringa oleifera, antioxidant activities, and antioxidants. The most publishers are Key Engineering Materials, the most affiliated are Chiang Mai University and Thamasat University, and most authors are from Thailand. The study of microemulsion formulations of Moringa seed oil has yet to be widely carried out but has been cited by other researchers.
