Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of ownership structure on capital structure. Based on agency theory by Jensen and Meckling (1976) that there is conflict of interest between managers and owners because managers act opportunisticly. Previous research based on agency theory found shows that insiders of shareholders and institutional investors have role in decreasing agency cost, because they can substitute the role of debt for the disciplinary insider’s acts in a corporate capital structure. Samples were selected by using purposive sampling to all companies of the manufacture industry listed in Jakarta Stock Exchange one year before sample year (1999-2002). Achieving this purposes, the multiple regression model was used by analyzing 155 observed firms from manufacturing companies. The F-statistic test shows that variables of ownership structure consisted of insiders ownership, institutional ownership and shareholders dispersion while control variable consisted offirm size, firm profitability, firm growth, assets structure, tax rate, and stock volatility simultaneously influence capital structure. The partially test shows that the ownership structure with proxy shareholders dispersion has a positive and significant affect on capital structure. The firm profitability and tax rate variables control have significantly affected the capital structure. The study has different results compared with the study Moh’d, et al. (1998) on the fact that the dispersion ownership on manufacture industry in Jakarta Stock Exchange exist during the study period. This fact causes owner to improve debt role in corporate capital structure to discipline insiders act. Keywords: Ownership structure, agency theory, agency cost, and capital structure

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of hardware innovation in strengthening the Management Information System (MIS) at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) after the merger. The background of this study addresses the challenges of integrating hardware infrastructure from three former banks, which initially caused several system disruptions affecting digital service stability and customer trust. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a literature review approach, utilizing scientific articles, official reports, and other relevant sources related to digital transformation in Islamic banking. The results show that hardware innovations, such as increasing server capacity, optimizing data centers, strengthening cybersecurity networks, and upgrading operational devices, significantly contribute to improving MIS performance, particularly in transaction speed, operational efficiency, and data security. The study concludes that strengthening hardware infrastructure is a strategic factor in supporting the success of BSI’s digital transformation. Future research is recommended to involve primary data through interviews or direct observation within BSI to obtain a more in-depth and comprehensive analysis.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in developing customer service in the e‑commerce platform, specifically Shopee Indonesia. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through in‑depth interviews with four active Shopee sellers from various regions, including Medan. The findings indicate that the implementation of CRM such as personalized communication, quick responses, customer incentives, and utilization of customer data significantly enhances customer satisfaction and loyalty. Shopee’s facilities and support, including Seller Centre Analytics, chat templates, and seller training, facilitate effective CRM implementation. The main challenges faced by sellers include high message volumes, limited digital literacy, and technical constraints, which can be addressed through adaptive strategies such as customer segmentation, chat templates, and admin team management. This study concludes that CRM is not merely a technical tool but a strategic approach for building long-term customer relationships, enhancing store reputation, and achieving business success in e-commerce.

Abstract

The research results show that the implementation of global IT through cloud computing, data integration, business process automation, and standardized IT governance can significantly improve operational efficiency. Furthermore, IT utilization also contributes to increased revenue through innovation of digital products and services, improved customer service quality, and accelerated international market expansion. However, global IT implementation faces several challenges such as data security, regulatory differences, and the digital competency gap. The development of information technology (IT) in the digital era has encouraged companies to implement IT management on a global scale to improve operational efficiency and expand revenue potential. This study aims to analyze how a global IT management strategy can be implemented effectively and how it impacts organizational efficiency and revenue. The research method uses a qualitative approach with literature review techniques and content analysis of various journals, company reports, and relevant scientific publications. This study concludes that global IT management is a strategic factor that can strengthen a company's competitiveness in global competition. Integrated, adaptive IT management that is aligned with business objectives has been proven to drive efficiency, innovation, and sustainable revenue growth.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of innovative software to improve the efficiency of information management systems at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). The backround of this research begin with growing need for effective and efficient information systems in the digital era, particularly in Islamic banking which requires compliance with sharia principles. The purpose of this study is to identify how software innovation can support better service, data security, and operational effectiveness at BSI. By employing a qualitative descriptive methodology along with a literature review, this research analyzes various technological innovations such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications in Islamic banking systems. The findings show that the adoption of modern information technology significantly enhances operational efficiency, service quality, and competitiveness. The conclusion highlights that software innovation integrated with sharia principles strengthens the management information system and supports BSI’s vision to become a global center of Islamic finance. Future development of software should focus on improving data security and adapting to advanced technologies to further enhance customer service quality.

Abstract

Transformasi digital menjadi keharusan dalam industri perbankan, termasuk bagi perbankan syariah yang harus mampu beradaptasi dengan teknologi tanpa meninggalkan prinsip-prinsip syariah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi berbagai tantangan dan strategi yang dilakukan oleh Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) dalam mengembangkan layanan electronic business (e-business) yang sesuai dengan nilai-nilai syariah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan analisis terhadap literatur ilmiah dan data sekunder dari lima belas jurnal terkini serta studi kasus pada implementasi BSI Mobile sebagai inovasi utama digital banking syariah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tantangan utama yang dihadapi BSI meliputi infrastruktur teknologi yang belum merata, keamanan data dan privasi nasabah, serta keterbatasan kompetensi sumber daya manusia digital. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi konseptual bagi pengembangan model digitalisasi perbankan syariah serta menjadi rujukan bagi lembaga keuangan lain dalam merancang strategi transformasi digital yang beretika dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the optimization of data resources drives service innovation in Islamic banking in the digital era. Digital transformation through Big Data Analytics, artificial intelligence, digital banking platforms, and technologies such as APIs and cloud computing has positioned data as a strategic asset for Islamic banks. Effective utilization of data enhances operational efficiency, supports personalized services, strengthens risk management, and enables the development of Sharia-compliant financial products. This research employs a qualitative library-based approach by analyzing fifteen scholarly articles related to digitalization, service innovation, green banking, and data management in Islamic finance. The findings indicate that data optimization significantly contributes to accelerating digital service adoption, improving customer satisfaction, expanding Islamic financial inclusion, and reinforcing governance based on the principles of maqashid shariah. However, digitalization also presents challenges, including cybersecurity threats, limited technological infrastructure, low digital literacy in Sharia-compliant finance, and insufficient human resource competencies. Therefore, integrated strategies involving strengthened Sharia governance, enhanced technological capabilities, and collaboration with regulators and FinTech institutions are required to build a secure, inclusive, and sustainable digital Islamic financial ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the digital economy in increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs in Medan City. The rapidly developing digital transformation provides opportunities for MSMEs to expand their markets, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen their competitive position. However, the use of digital technology among MSMEs in Medan remains limited due to low digital literacy, limited capital, lack of training, and minimal use of digital platforms such as e-commerce, social media, and Google My Business. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method through a literature review of research conducted in 2024–2025. The results of the analysis indicate that the digital economy plays a significant role in increasing the competitiveness of MSMEs, particularly through digital marketing, technological innovation, and optimization of digital platforms that can increase visibility and interaction with customers. Based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) approach, the competitive advantage of MSMEs is determined by the quality of internal resources, especially digital literacy, innovation capabilities, and technology management. With the support of training and government policies, the implementation of the digital economy has the potential to strengthen the growth and sustainability of MSMEs in Medan City.
