Abstract

During last decade, supply chain management has emerged as a key for sustainable completive advantages. Increasing globalization has given birth to new philosophies and businessman has started focusing on the new ways of occupying market share. However, the share of Indonesia in global production has decreased from 31.953% in the start of this year to 20% in 2017. Which shows a gradual decrease of 11% in 16 years. To address this issue, the ultimate objective of this study is to develop a framework to boost global manufacturing through supply chain activities. This objective was achieved by examining the effect of supply chain agility, effective supply chain cost, supply chain responsiveness and risk management practices. Survey questionnaires was used to collect the data and PLS SEM used to analyze the data. It is found that supply chain agility, effective supply chain cost and supply chain responsiveness has significant positive effect on global manufacturing. Moreover, risk management practices as a moderating variable strengthen this effect and enhances the global manufacturing activities.

Abstract

Consuming caffeine in inappropriate amounts can disrupt various aspects, especially health. Controlling intake by knowing the caffeine levels in coffee is necessary to reduce the potential negative impacts. This research focuses on the detection of caffeine in Robusta coffee at two different concentrations (1:10 and 1:20 g/mL) and its relationship with yeast metabolism. An amperometric biosensor with a transimpedance amplifier to measure caffeine levels is used which has the advantages of sensitivity, cost-effectiveness, real time monitoring, biocompatibility, and reliable measurements. The data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA and visualized using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results revealed a concentration -dependent decrease in biosensor readings as caffeine levels increased (0.1, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 mM), indicating caffeine's ability to inhibit yeast oxygen consumption and oxygen-dependent metabolic processes. The sensitivity of the biosensor in detecting caffeine is 36.66 mV/mM. PCA uncovered complex patterns, relationships, and variations within the caffeine data. PC1 and PC2, the first two principal components, collectively explained 86.3% of the data's variance. Eigenvalues for both PCs were greater than 1, highlighting their significance in understanding the dataset's complexity. This research enhances our understanding of caffeine content in Robusta coffee and its effects on yeast metabolism, providing valuable insights for the coffee industry. This use of yeast biosensors offers efficiency, and adaptability that make that biosensor valuable in a variety of scientific and industrial contexts.

Abstract

As an archipelagic nation, Indonesia holds substantial potential for wave energy as a renewable resource. Certain coastlines of islands facing the Indian Ocean, particularly in the western and southern regions, exhibit significant wave energy throughout the year. To identify suitable locations for Wave Energy Converter (WEC) installation, it is essential to assess wave hindcast data. This study utilizes NOAA and ERA5 reanalysis wave data to analyze wave characteristics in Indonesia from 2008 to 2018. Data processing with Ocean Data View is employed to estimate key wave parameters at various locations, including significant wave height, mean wave period, and mean wave direction. Two locations in the South Java seas were identified for WEC installation based on this research. The average values for the period 2008 to 2018 indicate a significant wave height of around 2m, with a maximum height of 5m, a wave period of 10–14s, and a wave direction of 195–210 degrees. Notably, NOAA data suggests a higher estimation of significant wave height compared to ERA5 data. The average annual wave power potential based on ERA5 and NOAA is 164.43 MW/m and 252.15 MW/m, respectively. Furthermore, this study incorporates an economic simulation for the construction of a multi-point absorber WEC. The objective is to offer insights into the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) and compare it with other WEC technologies. Assuming a WEC capacity of 130 kW, the total construction cost is estimated at $2,093,725, resulting in a Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) of $91/MWh.

Abstract

Ferroelectric material is a dielectric material that has a high dielectric constant value so that it can be made in the form of thin films. Its application is based on electro-optical properties, one of which is the infrared thermal switch. This paper aims to determine the bandgap energy (Eg) of a 0.3BaTiO3 – 0.7BaZr0.5Ti0.5O3 thin film. The 0.3BaTiO3 – 0.7BaZr0.5Ti0.5O3 thin film is a semiconductor material with the valence band and conduction band separated by an energy bandgap (Eg). Thin films of 0.3BaTiO3 – 0.7BaZr0.5Ti0.5O3 were grown on FTO substrates using the sol-gel method. The films of 0.3BaTiO3 – 0.7BaZr0.5Ti0.5O3 were annealed at different temperatures of 700°C, 750°C and 800°C within 1 hour. Characterization was carried out using Ultra Violet Visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy to determine Eg using the Diffusion Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS) method. The DRS method was found to be better for solid materials considering the scattering component. The UV-Vis characterization results show that an increase in annealing temperature causes a decrease in Eg. For example the values ​​at 700°C, 750°C and 800°C are 3.5 ± 0.01 eV; 3.3±0.01 eV and 3.2±0.01 eV. The decrease in Eg is related to the diffusion of Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) ions into the Barium Zirconium Titanate (BZT) lattice forming a new sub-gap which in turn gives BT-BZT the ability to absorb lower light. Lower light absorption means more capable optics for multilayer systems.

Abstract

Profitability is a financial ratio that measures the ability of an entity, whether individual or company, to generate profit or earnings. Bank risk is the potential occurrence of an event that could potentially harm the bank. The Covid-19 pandemic caused banks to be highly selective in providing loans and impacted the interest income which is the main income source of the banking industry. This research aims to investigate the influence of income diversification on profitability and bank risk in the Covid-19 pandemic. The population in this study comprises all conventional commercial banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2020 to 2022. The selected sample for this study consists of 42 companies. The data analysis method used is panel data regression analysis. The results indicate that income diversification has a positive impact on Profitability measured using Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). On the other hand, income diversification has a negative impact on Risk measured using the Standard Deviation of Return on Assets (SDROA) and Standard Deviation of Return on Equity (SDROE). Profitabilitas merupakan rasio keuangan yang mengukur kemampuan suatu entitas, baik perorangan maupun perusahaan, dalam menghasilkan keuntungan atau pendapatan. Risiko bank adalah potensi terjadinya suatu peristiwa yang berpotensi merugikan bank. Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan perbankan menjadi sangat selektif dalam memberikan pinjaman dan berdampak pada pendapatan bunga yang merupakan sumber pendapatan utama industri perbankan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh diversifikasi pendapatan terhadap profitabilitas dan risiko bank pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh perusahaan perbankan umum konvensional yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) pada tahun 2020 hingga 2022. Sampel yang dipilih untuk penelitian ini terdiri dari 42 perusahaan. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi data panel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diversifikasi pendapatan berpengaruh positif terhadap Profitabilitas yang diukur menggunakan Return on Assets (ROA) dan Return on Equity (ROE). Di sisi lain, diversifikasi pendapatan berdampak negatif terhadap Risiko yang diukur menggunakan Standar Deviasi Return on Assets (SDROA) dan Standar Deviasi Return on Equity (SDROE).

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of observable characteristics of the board of directors on the financial performance of conventional banks and sharia banks from 2018 to 2022. This research used an associative quantitative research method which aims to determine and analyze the relationship between the characteristics of the board of directors as follows, board size, board age, board gender, and educational background with the financial performance of banking companies (Return on Assets and Return on Equity). The data between conventional banks and sharia banks was tested by t-test and it was found that there were significant differences between these two banks in the board size, board age, and educational background but no significant differences were found in the board gender. Also, it was found that there was a significant positive on the board age in conventional banks, a significant positive on-board gender in conventional banks but negative in sharia banks, and a significant negative on educational background in conventional banks. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik dewan direksi yang dapat diamati terhadap kinerja keuangan bank konvensional dan bank syariah tahun 2018-2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif asosiatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis hubungan antara karakteristik dewan direksi, yaitu ukuran dewan direksi, umur dewan direksi, jenis kelamin dewan direksi, dan latar belakang pendidikan dengan kinerja keuangan perbankan (Return on Assets dan Return on Equity). Data antara bank konvensional dan bank syariah diuji dengan uji t dan ditemukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua bank ini dalam hal ukuran dewan direksi, umur dewan direksi, dan latar belakang pendidikan tetapi tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan pada jenis kelamin dewan direksi. Selain itu, ditemukan pula pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada usia dewan di bank konvensional, positif yang signifikan pada gender dewan di bank konvensional tetapi negatif pada bank syariah, serta negatif yang signifikan pada latar belakang pendidikan di bank konvensional.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of learning and development on human resource performance in life insurance employees in South Jakarta. The research was conducted using a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires offline and online to life insurance employees in South Jakarta. The sample was taken using a non-probability sampling technique where not all populations have the same opportunity with the purposive sampling method, namely sampling in a study with certain considerations, with a total of 180 respondents. The analysis was carried out using the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) with the SmartPLS 3.0 application. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between learning variables and employee performance, also the development variable has a positive and significant relationship with employee performance. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh learning dan development terhadap kinerja sumber daya manusia pada karyawan asuransi jiwa Jakarta Selatan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan penyebaran kuesioner secara offline dan online kepada karyawan asuransi jiwa di Jakarta Selatan. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik non-probability sampling dimana tidak semua populasi memiliki kesempatan yang sama dengan metode purposive sampling, yaitu pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian dengan pertimbangan tertentu, dengan jumlah responden 180 orang. Analisa dilakukan dengan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan aplikasi SmartPLS 3.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara variabel learning dengan kinerja karyawan, serta variabel development memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengadopsi teori Inovasi, yang menunjukan bahwa inovasi adalah beragam perkembangan sosio- kultural multifaset yang mempengaruhi beragam pemangku kepentingan dan berbagai sumber pengetahuan ( Alaei, 2020; Chen, et al., 2018; Edwards Schachter, 2018; Liu & Wang, 2022). Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sebuah model teoritikal mengenai proses bagaimana Employee Developmental Practices agar dapat meningkatkan Social Capital, dan mengenai proses bagaimana Employee Developmental Practices agar dapat meningkatkan HumanCapital. Model penulis kembangkan dengan memasukan variabel-variabel : Employee Developmental Practices yang menjelaskan bagaimana praktik pengembangan karyawan ini akan meningkatkan Social Capital & Human Capital yang akan meningkatkan Social Capital & Human Capital. Dengan logika adalah bahwa orientasi Praktik pengembangan karyawan dapat menghasilkan Inovasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa EmployeeDevelopmental Practices berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap Human capital, Employee Developmental Practices berpengaruh positif dansignifikan terhadap Innovation. This study adopts the theory of innovation, which shows that innovation is a multifaceted socio-cultural development that affects various stakeholders and various sources of knowledge (Alaei, 2020; Chen, et al., 2018; Edwards Schachter, 2018; Liu & Wang, 2022) . This study aims to develop a theoretical model regarding the process of how Employee Developmental Practices can improve Social Capital, and regarding the process of how Employee Developmental Practices can increase Human Capital. The author developed the model by including the following variables: Employee Developmental Practices which explain how these employee development practices will increase Social Capital & Human Capital which will improve Social Capital & Human Capital. The logic is that employee development practice orientation can generate innovation. The resultsshowed that Employee Developmental Practices had a positive and significant effect on Human Capital, Employee Developmental Practices had apositive and significant effect on Innovation.

Abstract

Sumber daya manusia merupakan aspek krusial yang harus diperhatikan oleh perusahaan karena kinerja perusahaan yang optimal bergantung pada prestasi karyawan. Faktor-faktor seperti lingkungan kerja, kompensasi, karakter individu, dan motivasi diidentifikasi sebagai elemen penting yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan dalam konteks perusahaan. Lingkungan kerja yang positif, pemberian kompensasi yang sesuai, karakter individu yang baik, dan motivasi yang tinggi dapat meningkatkan kinerja karyawan, dan sebaliknya. Penelitian ini empiris menguji hubungan antara lingkungan kerja, kompensasi, dan karakter individu terhadap kinerja karyawan, dengan motivasi sebagai variabel mediasi di Perusahaan XYZ di Jakarta Barat, berdasarkan model konseptual dual factor theory. Karyawan Perusahaan XYZ di Jakarta Barat menjadi populasi penelitian, dengan 195 responden sebagai sampel. Metode kuantitatif digunakan dengan pengumpulan data melalui teknik purposive sampling dan distribusi kuesioner via Google Form. Hasil penelitian menggunakan SmartPLS menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan kerja, karakter individu, dan motivasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Sementara kompensasi tidak memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Selain itu, lingkungan kerja, kompensasi, dan karakter individu juga berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap motivasi kerja, dan motivasi mampu memediasi pengaruh kompensasi terhadap kinerja karyawan. Human resources are a crucial aspect that companies must pay attention to because the optimal performance of a company depends on the achievements of its employees. Factors such as the work environment, compensation, individual characteristics, and motivation are identified as essential elements influencing employee performance in a corporate context. A positive work environment, appropriate compensation, good individual characteristics, and high motivation can enhance employee performance, and vice versa. This empirical research examines the relationship between the work environment, compensation, and individual characteristics on employee performance, with motivation as a mediating variable at Company XYZ in West Jakarta, based on the conceptual dual factor theory model. The employees of the Creative Agency in West Jakarta serve as the research population, with 195 respondents as the sample. A quantitative method is employed, utilizing purposive sampling techniques and distributing questionnaires via Google Form for data collection. The research results, analyzed using smartPLS, indicate that the work environment, individual characteristics, and motivation have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. Meanwhile, compensation does not have a significant influence on employee performance. Additionally, the work environment, compensation, and individual characteristics also positively and significantly affect work motivation, and motivation can mediate the influence of compensation on employee performance.
