Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a prevalent musculoskeletal disorder and a significant public health concern in Indonesia. The prevalence LBP in Indonesia rangers from 7.6% to 37% total of population. Nonpharamacological management of LBP includes various therapeutic approaches, one of which is Core Stabillity Exercise. CSE isa commonly recognited rehabilitation modality for LBP, aimed at restoring the anatomical and biomechanical function of core muscles. This study to examine the effect of Core Stability Exercise Therapy on pain reduction in patient with Low Back Pain within the working area of Gerung Public Health Center of West Lombok. This present study employed an experimental reserch design that consisted of 88 individuals as population, from which 29 participants were selected as a sample using purposive sampling technique. Inclusion criteria included individuals experiencing mild to moderate LBP, aged 20-59 years, and willing to participate as respondents. The intervention consisted of a pre-test assessment, implementation of Core Stability Exercise therapy, and a post-test evaluation. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires and observational sheets. The results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Prior to the intervention, among the 29 respondents, 26 individuals (90%) had experienced mild pain, while 3 individuals (10%) reported had suffered from moderate pain. Following the implementation of Core Stability Exercise therapy. Core Stability Exercise therapy, 20 respondents (69%) reported mild pain, while 9 respondents (31%) reported no pain. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant reduction in pain levels after the intervention. The current findings show that Core Stability Exercise therapy has a significant effect on reducing pain levels in Low Back Pain patients in the working area of Gerung Public Health Center. CSE serves as a safe and accessible alternative therapy that can be performed independently by LBP patients to alleviate lower back pain.

Abstract

Introduction: the Penimbung Public Health Center is one of the health centers located in a malaria-endemic area in West Lombok Regency. Malaria remains a contagious disease that continues to pose a widespread public health issue. Secondary data from the Penimbung Health Center recorded 61 cases of malaria in 2022. The use of insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs) is considered an sffective method to prevent mosquito bites that transmit malaria. Research Objective: This study aims to investigate the correlation between the use of insecticide-treated bed nets and malaria infection transmission in the service area of the Penimbung Health Center. Research Method: This study employed a cross-sectional design. The study population included families of confirmed malaria patients who had been provided with insecticide-treated bed nets by the penimbung health center. A total of 24 participants were selected using accidental sampling. Data analysis was perform using the chi-square test with fisher’s alternative test. Results: The analysis revealed that 62.5% of the 24 respondents reported not using insecticide-treated bed nets, furthermore, malaria testing showed that 54.2% of the respondents were positive for malaria. A statistically significant association was found between the use of insecticide-treated bed nets and malaria incidence (p=0.000). Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between the use of insecticide-treated bed nets and the transmission of malaria infection (P=0.000).

Abstract

Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by the dengue virus, transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This illness poses a significant public health threat, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions such as Indonesia. Poor environmental sanitation can promote the breeding of the disease vector, leading to an increase in DHF cases. As a result, public awareness and understanding of sanitation practices are essential for preventing and controlling this disease. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the relationship between knowledge of environmental sanitation and the incidence of Dengue Fever in the coastal areas of Mataram City. Methods: This study adopted a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, collecting data at a singular point in time. A structured questionnaire was employed to observe and measure variables within the target population. Two hundred thirteen respondents were selected through systematic random sampling, adhering to clearly defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary instruments utilized in this research included a survey sheet and a validated questionnaire. Results: The findings from the Spearman rank correlation test revealed a statistically significant relationship between environmental sanitation and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), as indicated by a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The correlation coefficient (r = 0.320) demonstrates a moderate positive association between these two variables. Conclusion and recommendation: This study reveals a statistically significant association between environmental sanitation conditions and the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), indicating a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.320; p < 0.05). These findings underscore the importance of environmental hygiene as a crucial factor in the transmission dynamics of DHF within the population examined.
