Abstract

This study was to determine the effects of “Ikesmen” (e-mental health)Psychoeducation program in improving mental health literacy in secondary school teachersin Yogyakarta. Thirty secondary school teachers in Yogyakarta participated in the study.Fifteen teachers in the experimental group received “Ikesmen” program and fifteen teachers inthe control group did not receive treatment. The untreated control group design with pretestand posttest samples were used. The validity of “Ikesmen” program was tested in accordanceto Rusell module development principles (V coefficient is 0.775-0.8461). LiteracyQuestionnaires, Mental Health Stigma Questionnaires, and Mental health Knowledge Testwere used to collect data. Mixed analysis of variance was conducted to analyse the data. Theresults showed that there were no differences in the scores of mental health literacy betweenthe experimental group and control group (F=0.188, p =0.01< 0.668). There was no significantimprovement in the experimental group treated with Ikesmen Psychoeducation in comparisonwith the control group (F=0.640, p= 0.01<0.431). Further research is required to obtaindescription on the impact of technology usage in improving mental health literacy.

Abstract

Fobia sosial atau kecemasan sosial merupakan rasa takut yang berlebihan pada situasi sosial. Rasa takut ini terkadang menimbulkan permasalahan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perubahan tingkat fobia sosial dan respons fisiologis yang terjadi pada mahasiswa saat diberikan paparan/eksposur berupa social exposure lingkungan virtual. Hipotesis pada penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh signifikan virtual reality exposure terhadap perubahan respons fisiologis dan tingkat fobia sosial pada mahasiswa pada kelompok yang diberi perlakuan. Metode penelitian menggunakan desain eksperimen pretest-posttest control design dengan rancangan penelitian berupa mixed design. Terdapat 41 partisipan yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Partisipan dibagi ke dalam kelompok eksperimen (n= 21) dan kelompok kontrol (n= 20). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari skala Social Anxiety Disorder Dimensional (SAD-D) dan Self-Statements During Public Speaking (SSPS) serta Biofeedback Procomp5 Infiniti. Analisis data menggunakan teknik mixed ANOVA. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan simtom fobia sosial pada kelompok eksperimen secara tidak signifikan dan terjadi penurunan secara signifikan pada kelompok kontrol (p < 0,05). Implikasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi kepada penelitian selanjutnya dalam memberikan perlakuan pada partisipan yang mengalami kecemasan sosial dengan metode eksposur lingkungan virtual.

Abstract

Sejumlah pakar menyatakan bahwa psikologi, ilmu perilaku, dan ilmu sosial mengalami rintangan dan hambatan untuk maju. Salah satu kambing hitamnya adalah kebiasaan berat psikologi dan ilmu sosial dalam menggunakan uji signifikansi hipotesis nihil (Cohen, 1994). Kebiasaan yang sulit dihilangkan ini membuat psikologi seperti serangkaian kuldesak atau lorong buntu metodologis (Loftus, 1996)sehingga psikologi hanya sibuk memutar rodanya tanpa banyak kemajuan (Cohen, 1994), atau maju selambat jalannya gletser (Hunter, 1997).

Misalnya, Slater dan Narver (1995, hal.72) dalam mengakhiri kajiannya mengenai belajar organisasional menulis" We agree with the many sholars and execuitives who have expressed the sentiment that the ability to learn faster than your competitors may be the only sustainable source of competitive advantage".

Abstract

Research on well-being in adults has developed quite rapidly in recent years, but not on research in child well-being particularly within school context. This article aimed to review: (a) the definition of student well-being and b) measurement of student well-being. The review involved articles published in 2007-2017. The conclusions of this literature review are (a) the definitions used to explain student well-being are based on several approaches, namely mental health, hedonistic and eudaimonic, (b) several aspects that construct the student well-being at school namely dominant positive emotions, school satisfaction, negative emotions, social relations and engagement to school. These findings can provide recommendations for measurement construction and school evaluation related to student well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of transformational leadership on organizational commitment through the mediation of psychological well-being. Techniques of data collection is done through a survey by spreading scale consisting of organizational commitment, transformational leadership, and psychological well-being scale. Subjects in this study were 118 employees of the company construction in Yogyakarta areas. Data analysis was done by using multiple regression analysis. The analysis showed that the role of transformational leadership on organizational commitment fully mediated by psychological well-being with regression coefficient path c ' = 0.219 which is smaller than the regression coefficient path c = 0.376. This suggests that the role of transformational leadership as an independent variable on the organizational commitment as a dependent variable is reduced and becomes not significant with p ≥ 0.01 after controlling for variables mediator psychological well-being.

Abstract

In a collective culture, parental career support is considered an important source of consideration for adolescent students. Unfortunately, preliminary research conducted by the authors found that parents were not quite able to provide the support their children required. One of the efforts to overcome this problem is the provision of psychoeducation to increase career decision-making literacy to parents through an application named i-Karier. This study tested a hypothesis that i-Karier literacy can increase parental support in adolescent students’ decision-making. This study utilized a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental design (untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples using a double pretest). The participants were 48 parents of high school students in Class XI and XII who were selected using purposive sampling. There were nine inclusion criteria, namely: (1) education level; (2) children’s career aspirations; (3) parents’ location; (4) zero attendance in training on adolescents' career decision-making; (5) ability to operate a smartphone; (6) availability of supporting facilities; (7) low to moderate levels of knowledge of career decisions; (8) low to moderate scores on the parental support scale; and (9) parents' willingness to participate. The results of mixed Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) model reported a significant interaction between group factors and measurement period factors on parental support, F(2.01, 92.51) = 130.99, p < .01, η_p^2= .74. The results of the interview regarding intervention effectiveness to participants in the experimental group confirmed these findings. Fundamentally, participation in this program could improve the ability of parents to provide the support their children require when facing various major choices in higher education. Dalam budaya kolektif, dukungan orang tua dalam pengambilan keputusan karier (parental career support) dianggap sebagai sumber pertimbangan penting bagi siswa remaja. Sayangnya, penelitian awal yang dilakukan oleh penulis menemukan bahwa para orang tua kurang dapat memberikan dukungan yang dibutuhkan oleh anak-anak mereka. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah pemberian psikoedukasi untuk meningkatkan literasi pengambilan keputusan karier kepada para orang tua melalui aplikasi bernama i-Karier. Penelitian ini menguji sebuah hipotesis bahwa literasi i-Karier dapat meningkatkan dukungan orang tua dalam pengambilan keputusan siswa remaja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experiment (untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest samples using a double pretest). Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 48 orang tua siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Kelas XI dan XII yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Terdapat sembilan kriteria inklusi yaitu: (1) tingkat pendidikan; (2) aspirasi karier anak; (3) lokasi orang tua; (4) tidak pernah mengikuti pelatihan; (5) kemampuan mengoperasikan smarphone; (6) memiliki fasilitas mendukung; (7) memiliki pengetahuan keputusan karier; (8) skor parental support scale; dan (9) kesediaan orang tua untuk berpartisipasi. Hasil analisis model Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) campuran melaporkan adanya interaksi yang signifikan antara faktor kelompok dan faktor periode pengukuran terhadap dukungan orangtua, F(2,01, 92,51) = 130,99; p < 0,01; η_p^2 = 0,74. Hasil wawancara perihal efektivitas intervensi kepada para partisipan di kelompok eksperimen mengonfirmasi temuan tersebut. Secara mendasar, keikutsertaan dalam program ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan para orangtua dalam memberikan dukungan yang dibutuhkan oleh anak-anak mereka saat menghadapi berbagai pilihan jurusan di pendidikan tinggi.

Abstract

Although it has been studied since 1980s, the theoretical framework for procrastination has just been comprehensively developed about two decades later. This study applied Temporal Motivation Theory (TMT) as a theoretical framework to develop thesis writing procrastination instruments, using self report and Sim’s behavior observation methods. Self-report results of 232 undergraduate students have fulfilled psychometric norms, concerning either the reliability or validity aspects. Observation of Sim’s behaviors, performed by 48 students, also fulfilled some of the psychometric criteria. The discovery of contradictory patterns of academic activities in the real world against The Sims 2 World was perceived as evidences of basic value differences and manifestation of defense mechanism. Inclusion of subject’s responses on The Sims 2 game play pattern scale in the hierarchical linear regression equation improved the prediction power toward latency of thesis completion. Sekalipun telah dipelajari sejak 1980-an, kerangka kerja teoretis penunda-nundaan (prokrastinasi) baru tersusun secara komprehensif sekitar dua dekade kemudian. Penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka kerja teoretis Teori Motivasi Temporal (Temporal Motivation Theory/TMT) untuk mengembangkan alat ukur penunda-nundaan pengerjaan tugas akhir dengan laporan diri dan pengamatan perilaku sim. Hasil pengukuran laporan diri terhadap 232 mahasiswa telah memenuhi kaidah psikometris baik dari segi reliabilitas maupun validitas. Hasil pengamatan terhadap perilaku sim yang dikendalikan 48 mahasiswa juga telah memadai dari segi reliabilitas dan validitas. Ditemukannya pola berlawanan antara pengerjaan kegiatan akademik pada dunia nyata dan dunia The Sims 2, dimaknai sebagai bukti adanya perbedaan nilai dasar serta perwujudan mekanisme pertahanan diri. Penambahan prediktor berupa pola bermain The Sims 2 berhasil meningkatkan daya prediksi terhadap latensi penyelesaian skripsi.

Abstract

Abstract.The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a transpersonal psychotherapy using meditation, visualization, and praise method. Subjects (N = 6) were HIV and AIDS patients. Results reveal an increase of quality of life with transpersonal psychotherapy and an increase (based on WHO criterion) of CD4 criterion. Subjects of stadium II and III can not rely on the psychotherapy alone to raise their level of CD4, they also need antiretroviral therapy. An increase in physical activity was also apparent in patients who were in stadium II and III, while patients in stadium I of AIDS scored high since the start of the therapy. There is a decreasing level of stress and level of anxiety, an increasing level of self acceptence, and level of activity in community in all subjects, and level of meaning of life in4 subjects. Para penderita HIV & AIDS harus menghadapi penyakit yang mematikan, mengalami diskriminasi, dan stigma dari keluarga maupun masyarakat. Pasien HIV & AIDS memerlukan terapi komprehensif (medikamentosa, nutrisi, dukungan sosial maupun psikoterapi) untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup. Psikoterapi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode visualisasi, meditasi, dan pujian. Penelitian ini melibatkan 6 subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa psikoterapi transpersonal dengan metode visualisasi, meditasi,dan pujian meningkatkan kualitas hidup pada aspek fisik/biologis, psikologis, sosial, dan spiritual.Psikoterapi transpersonal meningkatkan jumlah CD4 berdasar kriteria CDC/WHO dan meningkatkan aktivitas pada penderita dengan stadium II dan III. Penderita HIV & AIDS stadium I memiliki skor batas teratas sejak awal. Psikoterapi transpersonal menurunkan stres dan kecemasan, meningkatkan penerimaan diri, aktivitas dalam kelompok pada seluruh subjek, serta meningkatkan makna hidup pada 4 subjek.
