Abstract

This study aims to find out whether applying Project-Based Learning can improve students’ Critical Thinking skills in General English for Pre Intermediate 4 class in LB LIA Palembang, a Non Formal English Language Institution in Palembang. The study was conducted as a classroom action research. There were 20 students who participated as the samples of the research. The data were collected through observation, questionnaire and interview. Then, the data were analyzed. The results showed 17 out of 20 students (85%) get the desired level of Critical Thinking skills. Based on the interview, all students have positive understanding of Project-Based Learning model. In conclusion, PBL has an influence in improving students’ critical thinking skills. Further study needs to be conducted to give more positive impact to society.

Abstract

This research aims to find out moral values in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” novel. The data of this research were obtained from words, phrases, sentences, and utterances. This research was using a qualitative descriptive method. There were three kinds of collecting the data, they were documentation, interview, and book review from another reader. Five major phases were used for the data analysis: they were data managing, reading, noting, classifying, interpreting, and representing. The results of data analysis shows that moral values in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” novel are commitment to something greater than oneself; self respect, but with humbleness or respect to others, self-discipline, and acceptance of personal responsibility; respect and caring for others; and caring for other living things and environment.

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out and developing intrinsic elements and how social life was presented in the novel Mirror Image by Sandra Brown. This is a qualitative research. The data of the research were taken from word, phrase, sentences in the novel and they were analyzed used triangulation method. Data source triangulation was achieved through the inclusion of two different types of data: interviews and questionnaire. The result showed were social aspect, economy aspect, politic aspect, and cultural aspect.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi manajemen model teaching factory di SMK Negeri 2 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumentasi. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan mereduksi data, mendisplay data dan memverivikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi manajemen model teaching factory di jurusan desain pemodelan dan interior bangunan SMK Negeri 2 Palembang mulai dari perencanaan, pengorganisasaian, pelaksanaan, evaluasi dan tindak lanjut sudah terlaksana dengan baik. Siswa sudah mampu merancang dan membuat model desain pemodelan dan informasi bangunan sesuai dengan project yang diberikan pembimbing. Pembimbing hanya berperan sebagai fasilitator dalam memberikan bimbingan dan pengarahan kepada siswa. Evaluasi model teaching factory dilaksanakan dengan kegiatan pemeriksaan terhadap hasil produk oleh ketua program keahlian, jika ketua program keahlian sudah menganggap bahwa hasil produk sudah baik, maka ketua jurusan atau ketua program akan meneruskan hasil kerja untuk diperiksa oleh kepala sekolah. Evaluasi manajemen model teaching factory dilakukan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan program yang telah direncanakan dan dilaksanakan dan digunakan juga untuk membuat perencanaan program selanjutnya. Implementasi tindaklanjut manajemen model teaching factory sudah terlaksana dengan baik

Abstract

In this study, students in the state's senior high school number two in Musi Rawas' eleventh grade were asked about their self-esteem and strategies for improving their English proficiency. 64 students in the eleventh grade were selected as the sample for this study using cluster random selection. The correlational research design was used in this study. Data for the study was gathered via questionnaires and written records. They were examined using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and multiple regression analysis.The result showed that the sig. value of correlation between self-esteem and English achievement was 0.000 < 0.05, so H01 was rejected with 18.7% contribution of self-esteem. The sig. value of correlation between language learning strategies and English achievement was 0.000 < 0.05, so H02 was also rejected with 21.8% contribution of language learning strategies. The sig. change of correlation among self-esteem, language learning strategies, and English achievement was 0.000 < 0.05, automatically H03 was rejected with 24,3% contributions of self-esteem and language learning strategies.

Abstract

This research was conducted to reveal the improvement of teachers’ competence who have received professional allowances in realizing professional teachers. The data were obtained through interviews, documentation and observation. Improving the teachers’ competence is expected in order to improve the quality of education. Only then the professional teacher is capable of conducting learning and succeeding in bringing the learner into the world of life according to today’s needs and challenges. Conversely, the unwillingness and inability of teachers to adjust their insight and competence with the demands of the development would be one of the obstacles to the achievement of educational and learning objectives. Keywords: Professional Allowances, Improvement of Teachers’ Competence, Professional Teacher

Abstract

Managerial ability and work motivation of school principals are important for a leader to have so that the implementation of school-based management can be implemented well. This study was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of the principal's managerial ability on the quality of school-based management implementation, work motivation of principals on the quality of school-based management implementation and the influence of managerial ability and work motivation of principals together on the quality of school-based management implementation in high school all Makarti Jaya Districts. This research method is quantitative descriptive. The research sample used the Slovin formula and was taken by simple random sampling technique. The results of the research conducted are managerial ability has a positive and significant impact on the quality of the application of school based management.

Abstract

The Indonesian government implemented the learner-centered Merdeka Curriculum to overhaul the country's educational system. This curriculum is being used at MI Hijriyah II Palembang, a well-known Islamic elementary school in Palembang. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Merdeka Curriculum's implementation at MI Hijriyah II Palembang, with an emphasis on its advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and threats. In order to collect data for this qualitative study, semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis were used in conjunction with a case study design. Teachers, students, and administrators from the school were among the participants. The study shows that a learner-centered approach, greater student autonomy, and integration of Islamic values are characteristics of MI Hijriyah II Palembang's Merdeka Curriculum implementation. Still, there are issues like poor training for teachers, a lack of resources, and mistrust from parents. This study highlights the opportunities and difficulties the school faced in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in a particular educational setting. The results have implications for stakeholder engagement, resource allocation, and teacher professional development, which will ultimately help MI Hijriyah II Palembang and other schools improve how they implement the curriculum

Abstract

This study identified the principal's strategy in developing teacher’s professional competence. This research used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. The research subjects were the principal and teachers of SD Negeri 1 Kota Prabumulih. The results showed that: (1) in order to improve and develop the professional competence of teachers in SD Negeri 1 Kota Prabumulih, the head seems to implement and implement a strategy in the form of "Supervision"; (2) teacher competence at SD Negeri 1 Kota Prabumulih is quite good. because teachers have been trained to educate, teach, guide, direct, train, assess, and evaluate students, and (3) obstacles faced by school principals in improving the professional competence of SD Negeri 1 Prabumulih City teachers, namely: teachers have a solid job in teaching in the classroom so that the teacher does not pay attention to the supervision carried out by the principal, sometimes less and unscheduled implementation time is caused by the principal's busyness in attending official events and meetings outside of school, and some teachers are still there who are late or do not comply with the stipulations on the right time in making the Lesson Plan.

Abstract

The purpose of this ex post facto correlational study is to investigate the impact of leadership effectiveness and interpersonal communication on teacher job satisfaction at SMA Sub Rayon III Prabumulih City. A questionnaire was utilized as the study tool. Inferential statistics, such as the basic linear correlation test, multiple linear regression, t-test, and F-test, were used to assess the data. The findings revealed a substantial relationship between leadership effectiveness and interpersonal communication and teacher job satisfaction at SMA Sub Rayon III Prabumulih. This research assists the principal in establishing effective communication in the school environment in order to achieve teacher job satisfaction.
