Abstract

In some stories, the development of the characters is motivated by desire. While modern ideas define desire as autonomous, René Girard analyzes desire as imitation from others. “Tell Them Not to Kill Me!” is Juan Rulfo’s short story that tells a story of a fugitive of murder that had to face the death penalty. He fled for thirty years thinking that everyone has forgotten his case, but then he was caught by the Colonel who was the son of the one he murdered. The death penalty was a revenge from a son to his father’s murderer. This paper then focuses on exploring the ways revenge is seen as a mimetic desire in Juan Rulfo’s “Tell Them Not to Kill Me!”. Through the perspective of Girard’s theory of desire, this paper shows that revenge becomes a direct reflection of murder that has been done before. The desire to murder is not spontaneous but determined by the former action. The desire to murder that is expressed by Colonel enables him to punish those who commit crime. ‘The eye for an eye’ is a statement that will not happen if one's own eye is not taken beforehand. Through Girard’s perspective, Rulfo’s story provides evidence that the Colonel’s desire to revenge is mimetic of murder which results in the death penalty of the murderer. In conclusion, the Colonel’s desire is not perceived as positive or negative but a mimesis to the previous other’s deeds.

Abstract

Peran guru untuk meningkatkan kemandirian dan keterampilan siswa pada aspek sanitasi higiene dalam prosedur pengolahan pangan memiliki pengaruh besar di kelas. Guru harus mengetahui dan menentukan hal-hal yang dibutuhkan dalam pembelajaran dan menentukan langkah-langkah yang tepat untuk menyelesaikan masalah. Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) merupakan proses pembelajaran dimana siswa diminta untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan otentik dengan tujuan agar mampu menyusun pengetahuan mereka sendiri, mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan kemandirian serta percaya diri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan kemandirian dan keterampilan siswa kelas X APHP SMKN 2 Sampang dalam aspek sanitasi higiene pada praktikum pengolahan pangan. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan Quasy Experiment Design atau eksperimen semu dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap peningkatan kemandirian dan keterampilan siswa dalam aspek sanitasi higiene pada praktikum pengolahan pangan. Hasil uji anova hipotesis pertama dapat diketahui bahwa nilai sig sebesar 0,007 < 0,05, maka H0 ditolak, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemandirian siswa dalam aspek sanitasi higiene pada praktikum pengolahan pangan. Hasil uji anova hipotesis kedua dapat diketahui bahwa nilai sig sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, maka H0 ditolak, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap keterampilan siswa dalam aspek sanitasi higiene pada praktikum pengolahan pangan.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to explore the social and cultural dimensions of Balinese personal names, specifically examining how the order of birth is reflected in the nomenclature. By delving into the historical and cultural context, the study aims to elucidate the societal roles and expectations associated with these names, providing a holistic understanding of their significance within the Balinese community. To achieve a comprehensive analysis, the study employs a combination of document study and the examination of students' attendance lists. Document study involves reviewing historical records, folklore, and other relevant texts to trace the evolution of Balinese naming conventions. Additionally, attending to students' attendance lists offers contemporary insights into the prevalence and adherence to traditional naming practices. The collected data will be subjected to qualitative analysis, utilizing both historical and contemporary perspectives. Thematic analysis will be applied to identify recurring patterns, cultural nuances, and changes over time. Comparative analysis of attendance lists will offer insights into the extent to which traditional naming practices persist in modern Balinese society. By synthesizing the findings from document study and attendance lists, this research aims to provide a nuanced understanding of Balinese naming conventions and their sociolinguistic implications. The study contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage by documenting these unique practices and highlights the importance of recognizing and respecting linguistic diversity in the face of evolving global trends.

Abstract

Humanity today is in deep sadness over the outbreak of the Corona virus Disease (Covid-19). The Indonesian government implements a learning from home policy, namely online learning. This research is a type of quantitative research. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was SMP Al Asy'ari Geger Bangkalan. Data collection methods in this study were interviews, questionnaires and tests. The results of the questionnaire and documentation are analyzed through three stages, namely correlation test analysis techniques, coefficiency and determination tests and t tests. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using the Google Classroom application on student learning readiness and learning independence of Class IX students of SMP Al Asy'ari Geger Bangkalan. The results showed that there was a significant difference between learning using Google Classroom on student learning readiness and learning independence of Class IX students of Al Asy'ari Geger Bangkalan Junior High School known Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.016 > 0.05 and in the control class was 0.011 > 0.05 so that it can be concluded that the data on student learning independence produced in the research subjects were normally distributed. The suggestion in this study is that teachers can use innovative learning media such as Google Classroom so as to increase student interest in learning readiness and student learning independence.

Abstract

This article explains the importance of writing fables, especially to improve writing literacy skills daily life imaginations. This writing is based on community service done to junior high school students in SMPN 48 Surabaya in 2024. The creative capacities of children possess the potential to enhance their comprehension of writing literacy skills through the act of writing fables. Through an exploratory approach within qualitative research, this manuscript underscores fable writing as a mechanism to cultivate literacy skills from describing, exploring, to explaining ideas from their minds to written fables. In conclusion, the practice of writing fables for junior high school students is essential to elevate writing literacy skills regarding the advancement of creativity in the students’ understandings of their everyday issues.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pembelajaran web wordwall terhadap motivasi dan kemandirian membaca siswa pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif deskriptif dengan Pre-experimental design dengan desain penelitian Pre-experimental design dengan jenis One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrument non tes berupa angket untuk megetahui motivasi dan kemandirian siswa. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu seluruh kelas XII SMKN 2 Sampang dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 60 siswa, sedangkan sampel pada penelitian ini adalah kelas XII Multimedia 1 yang berjumlah 28 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh media pembelajaran Web Worldwall terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dan kemandirian membaca pada mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the differences in critical thinking skills and differences in learning outcomes with the application of PBL (Problem Based Learning) and conventional students at MA Nurul Hikmah Murangsanah Kokop Bangkalan. Quantitative approach, the method used for data collection and data analysis. The type of experimental research with a design is quasi-experimental in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. The results of data calculations obtained an average score for the experimental class of 83.5, with a total of 30 students using the problem based learning model. 23 students, student learning outcomes in control class X-A and experimental class X-B, from the average score of control class X-A and experimental class obtained from the final test after learning ended, while the student learning outcomes in the X-B experimental class were obtained at 79.33 from the results of the final test conducted by researchers after learning, so it appears that the influence of the problem based learning model was 40.4% on student learning outcomes in MA Nurul Hikmah Murangsanah Kokop Bangkalan.

Abstract

The song of Love Yourself by Justin Bieber talks about the importance of self-love and acceptance by encouraging any audience to prioritize their own needs and well-being, rather than seeking validation from others. Through the lyrics, Bieber emphasizes the idea that love and respect start from within oneself. Self-love should be focused by letting go of toxic relationships and negative influences and to pay more attention to each person’s own growth and happiness. By answering the question of how may self-love be represented on Justin Bieber`s Love Yourself?, the song's message is particularly relevant in today's world where social media and external pressures often dictate how people perceive themselves. Love Yourself serves as a powerful reminder that self-love and acceptance are key to mental and emotional well-being. In conclusion, Love Yourself is a powerful song that promotes self-love and acceptance including pushing out any negativity and toxic influence.
