Abstract

The impact of the earthquake in Lombok Island not only had an impact on community settlements, but also on tourism activities. Especially in Sembalun District, East Lombok, the impact can kill the economy of the community, since tourism is one of the main livelihoods of the people. The process of tourism recovery in Sembalun District shows different progress. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to compare the tourism performance before and after an earthquake—which was analyzed using comparative descriptive method. Furthermore, the next goal is to describe the recovery process of tourism in the aftermath of an earthquake, and identify factors that influence the achievement of tourism recovery using descriptive analysis. Based on the results of each purpose, it shows that there are several differences in the tourism performance before and after the earthquake; either it has better performance after the earthquake or worse. The process of tourism recovery is carried out differently— depending on the damage level. Nonetheless, there are several tourism objects that have not been recovered, such as Bale Adat. There are 4 factors that affect tourism recovery after an earthquake; physical factors, economic factors, social factors, and unique cultural factors.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic affects many aspects, including transportation. Campaigns to reduce social distance have changed people's daily travel behaviors. Moreover, increased health awareness leads to increased bicycle usage, including in Jakarta. However, the lack of proper bicycle lanes along the road in Jakarta makes cyclists unsafe. Therefore, the Bicycle Level of Service method uses to evaluate the feasibility of a section of the bicycle lane in South Jakarta. As the number of cyclists in Jakarta grows, so do their characteristics. The diversity of cyclists may also reveal facility preferences. Hence, the Latent Class Analysis is carried out to determine a cyclist’s class likelihood. A sample of bicycle users in Jakarta and its surroundings was studied using descriptive quantitative analysis. Lastly, this study performed the cross-tabulation analysis to examine the relationship between cycling classes in Jakarta and the preferences on cycling facilities during the pandemic. The study results indicate that daily mobility in Jakarta changed during the pandemic, with an increase in bicycle users and the emergence of three cyclist classes: Recreational, Sport, and True. In addition, the feasibility evaluation of the existing bicycle lane shows an increase in the bicycle level of service since the time prior to the pandemic.

Abstract

Solid waste management has become a major challenge due to strong urban population growth in many developing countries. As one of Indonesia's highest-density population cities, Tangerang City faces the disorganization of the solid waste management system handled by the government. This study aims to create an alternative solid waste disposal transportation by modelling the route and the number of trips. The initial step in reducing the unnecessary distance is redesigning the landfill area's vehicle pool. The vehicles should start and end the activity at the landfill. The calculation of OD pair distance uses Google API in the specific departure time by inputting coordinate data such as longitude and latitude. The application simultaneously applied the documentation of distance and time to 338 waste collection points. The data result is compiled in the distance matrix to find the closest destination between the collection point. The combination of collection points must meet the capacity requirement. Lastly, the new vehicle task is taken from the optimized routes. Compared to the current system, the new collection plan can achieve a reduction of 8% in the distance driven and 4% in the collection time. The development model is beneficial in shortening the distance driven and the travel time.

Abstract

Abstract

The Development of Geospatial Data and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) has been significant and can be utilized in urban and regional planning. One of the notable data sources includes Google Street View and Strava running activity data. This research investigates the potential correlation between the presence of green spaces, measured by the Green View Index (GVI) using Google Street View data, and the level of running activity recorded by Strava, a popular running application. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of GVI analysis with Google Street View and Strava data, providing a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between green environments and physical activity by leveraging Big Data. In this research, two locations are compared: Yogyakarta, identified to have a low GVI category, and Singapore, identified to have a high GVI category. The findings reveal a moderate negative correlation between GVI and the Strava running index in Yogyakarta, while a moderate positive correlation is observed in Singapore. These results contribute to the growing research on urban vitality and emphasize the importance of integrating green spaces into urban planning and development using big data. This study serves as a foundation for further research on the relationship between green environments and various forms of physical activity, contributing to the development of healthier and more sustainable cities in the future.

Abstract

Waste management remains a critical environmental challenge, particularly in regions with significant urban-rural disparities. This study investigates household waste sorting behavior in Sleman Regency, Indonesia, by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The objectives are to examine the influence of attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the intention to sort waste, as well as to analyze the moderating effect of infrastructure on these relationships in urban and rural areas. A quantitative approach using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed, with data collected from 796 households (399 urban, 397 rural). The findings reveal that attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly influence sorting intentions, with subjective norms being more impactful in urban areas, while perceived behavioral control is more influential in rural areas. Infrastructure significantly moderates the relationship between perceived behavioral control and intention in rural areas but shows no significant moderating effect in urban areas. These results highlight the necessity of context-specific strategies in waste management. The study contributes to the TPB literature by incorporating the moderating role of infrastructure and offers practical insights for policymakers to design sustainable waste management interventions tailored to urban and rural contexts.
