Abstract

Electrophoresis is a method of separation that utilizes the electric field generated from electrodes to separate compounds having a charge of cations or anions. Electrophoresis requires separation media in the form of a stationary phase such as Agarose cells mixed with a buffer solution to maintain the acidity of the sample during the separation process. This tool strongly supports the renewal of research, especially in the field of genetic engineering technology. The result will provide a track record of separation bands of compounds. The speed of molecular motion depends on the ratio (ratio) of charge to its mass, and also depends on the shape of the molecule.

Abstract

Abstrak Sel elektrokimia merupakan pemanfaatan arus listrik yang dihasilkan dari sebuah reaksi kimia ataupun arus listrik yang menyebabkan terjadinya suatu reaksi kimia. Pemanfaatan sel elektrokimia banyak digunakan untuk menghasilkan teknologi terbarukan. Sel elektrolisis dan sel Volta merupakan hasil terapan dari sel elektrokimia yang menggunakan media elektroda dan larutan elektrolit. Sampai saat ini, sel elektrokimia masih memiliki peranan penting di dalam kemajuan teknologi modern mulai industri otomotif maupun rumah tangga. Kata kunci:

Abstract

The coating substance on tomato, apple, and kiwi from carrageenan of Eucheuma cottonii that originated from Aceh was made with additional PEG (polyethylene glycol) plasticizer to increase the fruit shelf life. Carrageenan of Eucheuma cottonii was extracted using 14% alkaline solution (KOH) and precipitated using IPA (isopropyl alcohol). The coating substance was made using various combination of carrageenan (0,1%, 0,2% 0,3%) and PEG (polyethylene glycol) with concentration 0,5% (v/v). Fruit coating process was carried out by immersion until the whole fruit well submerge. The examination was carried out through functional groups identification of carrageenan from Eucheuma cottonii and the coating substance. The coating substance was observed toward fruits resistance to see changes in physical shape and hardness of fruit and used a microscope with 450 times enlargement to observe the fruit surface at 0 day, 6th day, 12th day and 18th day. As the result, carrageenan that extracted from red seaweed (Eucheuma cottonii) shown the suitable structure with the commercial carrageenan. From the observation result, coated fruits resistance which was observed at 12th day shown apple and tomato have a better hardness and physical appearance with 0,3% carrageenan than with 0,1%, 0,2%, and control, meanwhile for kiwi with 0,2% carrageenan.

Abstract

Edible film karaginan merupakan salah satu alternatif pengganti kemasan plastik yang sulit terdegradasi di alam dan aman bagi bahan pangan. Karaginan merupakan hasil ekstraksi salah satu jenis rumput laut yaitu Eucheuma cottonii. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gugus fungsi dari edible film dengan variasi konsentrasi karaginan dan sifat permukaan dari edible film karaginan dengan SEM. Pemanfaatan karaginan hasil ekstraksi E.cottonii asal Aceh untuk pembuatan edible film diharapkan dapat meningkatkan potensi budidaya E.cottonii di Aceh. Tahapan penelitian dilakukan dengan dua tahap, tahap pertama proses ekstraksi karaginan dari E. cottonii dengan penggunaan KOH 14% dan tahap kedua pembuatan edible film dengan varisi konsentrasi karaginan 0,1%; 0,2%; 0,3% (b/v) dengan penambahan PEG sebagai plasticizer. Hasil FTIR menunjukkan gugus fungsi ester sulfat, ikatan glikosidik, 3,6 anhidro-d-galaktosa, gugus OH dan CH dengan bilangan gelombang berturut-turut pada rentang 1246,36-1246,9 cm-1 , 1072-1074 cm-1, 932-934 cm-1,  3370- 3382 cm-1, dan 2876-2880 cm-1. Perubahan bilangan gelombang edible film karaginan dibandingkan dengan FTIR karaginan hasil ekstraksi pada penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan adanya interaksi antara karaginan dengan plasticizer PEG yang ditambahkan. Pengujian morfologi pada edible film pada konsentrasi karaginan 0,1% dan 0,2% dengan SEM menunjukkan permukaan yang homogen dan kontinyu, sedangkan pada konsentrasi 0,3% edible film tidak terbentuk.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang identifikasi daging buah kopi Robusta (Coffea robusta) yang berasal dari provinsi Aceh. Sampel yang digunakan berasal dari Kabupaten Aceh Tengah dan Kabupaten Gayo Lues. Metode identifikasi meliputi skrining fitokimia, analisis kadar air dan analisis kadar timbal (Pb). Untuk pengujian skrining fitokimia daging buah kopi berasal dari kabupaten Aceh Tengah diperoleh hasil kandungan senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid dan polifenol, sedangkan untuk kabupaten Gayo Lues diperoleh kandungan senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid dan polifenol. Pada pengujian analisis kadar air pada daging buah kopi robusta asal Kabupaten Aceh Tengah sebesar 78 %, sedangkan Kabupaten Gayo Lues sebesar 90 %. Kemudian analisis kadar timbal, untuk kabupaten Aceh Tengah diperoleh sebesar 0,0984 ppm dan kabupaten Gayo Lues sebesar 0,0783 ppm.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the analysis of the environmental conditions of seaweed cultivation in the Pulo Raya area of Aceh Jaya Regency, Aceh Province. Aceh Province is the westernmost province of the Indonesian archipelago. Geographically, Aceh is a peninsula area of the island of Sumatra which is directly bordered by the Indian Ocean so that Aceh has several small islands. With this condition, it has the potential to be used as a place for seaweed cultivation. An analysis of environmental conditions is needed to produce good quality seaweed. Examination parameters include pH, temperature, heavy metal content, COD and salinity. Sample examination is carried out based on Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) No. 7578.1: 2010 and Decree of the Minister of Environment (KemenLH) No. 51: 2004. The results obtained showed a pH level of 6.22; temperature of ± 28 oC; levels of lead metal ions (Pb (II)) 0.001 ppm and copper (Cu (II) metal ions of 0.002 ppm; The COD level is 137 ppm and the salinity level is 28.75 ppm. With the results of the chemical analysis obtained, the Pulo Raya area is feasible to become a seaweed cultivation area.

Abstract

Coffee fruit flesh is a waste that coffee farmers use as animal feed only, even though has a composition such as carbohydrates, proteins, fiber, minerals, water, protein, caffeine, and polyphenols. These compositions are very useful for cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. This study was a research on the use of waste of Aceh’s Robusta fruit flesh (Coffea robusta) on the ability to inhibit the bacteria S-aureus and E.coli as the basic ingredients of the cosmetic face mask of halal products. The samples used were from Takengon city. The skin of the coffee beans was peeled, cleaned and extracted with methanol for about 3 x 24 hours. Further concentrated until obtained extract concentrated. The resulting extracts were tested phytochemically. Variations of extracts concentration on water solvents were 1%, 2%, and 3%. The antibacterial activity was tested by the diffusion method which used the disc. The result showed inhibitory zone to E.coli bacteria at 1%, 2%, 3% concentration were 6,5 mm, 7.2 mm and 7.8 mm respectively. While in S.aureus at a concentration of 1%, 2%, 3% were 15.1 mm, 15.3 mm and 15.5 mm respectively. The best variation of the concentration of Robusta coffee fruit flesh extract (Coffea robusta) in this study on the growth of S-aureus and E.coli bacteria was 3%.

Abstract

Technological developments are very rapid but it does not necessarily with the renewal of information technology to the public due to the limited differences in public interest. Indonesia is one of the most populous countries in the world with the majority of the Muslim population. In line with that, the Muslim community highly upholds the values of Islamic teachings contained in the Qur'an one of the concept of Halalan Toyyiban. Information that is rarely accepted by the public is the halal principle of an industrial product, whether food, beverage, cosmetic or other manufacturing industries. This is also supported by the human lifestyle factors on goods from outside the country regardless of the origin of the goods. As a predominantly Muslim country, it is necessary to have simple and accurate information on the use of materials in an industrial product to determine the absence of an industrial product. One of them is the use of derived compounds or single compounds derived from pigs. From several research results that have been done, obtained the image pattern from the examination result of the sample. So that people can easily obtain information about the source of materials used in everyday life.

Abstract

Pelumas merupakan penopang utama dari kerja sebuah mesin, bahkan juga menentukan performa dan daya tahan mesin. Penurunan kualitas pelumas tersebut akan sangat membahayakan kerja mesin sehingga harus dilakukan penggantian dengan pelumas baru. Adapun tujuan dari praktek kerja lapangan ini yaitu untuk menentukan kadar air dan flash point yang terdapat pada pelumas bekas. Parameter-parameter yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengetahui mutu pelumas adalah viskositas, flash point, fire point, kadar air, bilangan basa dan bilangan asam. Parameter tersebut akan mengalami perubahan jika terjadi kerusakan pada pelumas yang disebabkan adanya partikel asing yang terlarut, proses oksidasi, peningkatan partikel tidak larut. Dari analisis diperoleh hasil bahwa pelumas dengan tipe sample ISO VG68 dari item 51-102 J dapat digunakan kembali karena hasil yang diperoleh masih memenuhi spesifikasi, dengan kadar air sebesar 0,08 % dan flash point 248

Abstract

Biosolar merupakan kombinasi bahan bakar minyak bumi dengan bahan bakar yang berasal dari tumbuhan. Kombinasi ini berfungsi untuk mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap sumber energi yang tidak dapat diperbaharui. Perlu dilakukan pengujian terhadap kombinasi ini dengan tujuan adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas biosolar (B30) dengan analisis titik nyala (flash point), densitas dan warna biosolar (B30). Sampel biosolar yang digunakan berasal dari SPBU dan PT. Pertamina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan bakar biosolar (B30) bahan tersebut memiliki flash point sebesar 52 oC. Sedangkan densitasnya pada batas minimal 0,800 Kg/m3 dan warna yang diperoleh warna kuning.
