Abstract

Wastewater contains pollutants that can disturb the balance of the ecosystem in the form of health problems, water quality degradation and others. According to Said, (2008) the problem experienced in almost all cities in Indonesia is wastewater pollution. The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of conditions and performance values, factors that influence the conditions and performance of Communal WWTPs in Sleman Regency Yogyakarta. The method used in this study is an interview with the help of guidelines to respondents who have been determined. The location of the sample collection was determined by the stratified random sampling method based on the District and Village for the decision of data collection at 30 Communal WWTPs of Sleman Regency. The results of the interview are processed by the Likert scoring method and then drawn with the Radar Chart. The factors that influence the conditions and performance of Communal WWTPs are then obtained from the ranking of the criteria for the conditions and performance of Communal WWTPs that have been calculated. The results showed that overall Communal WWTPs in Sleman Regency had conditions and performance with a value of 2.98 which was included in the interval of value 3 with a fairly good category. This value consists of the value of the technical aspect of 3.52 with a very good category, the value of the environmental aspect of 2.94 with a fairly good category, and the value of the socio-economic aspect of 2.48 with a rather poor category. Factors that influence the condition and performance of Communal WWTPs in Sleman Regency whose value is still less than expected are the maintenance of facilities with a value of 2.27, the load of wastewater with a value of 2.43, the institutional value of 2.47, and the management performance monitoring program with a value of 2.50 which falls into the rather poor value category.

Abstract

Methylene blue is one of the dyes often used in the textile industry. This dye is toxic which causes environmental pollution and health problems for humans and animals. In this research, adsorption of methylene blue dye was carried out by using an adsorbent in the form of red fruit waste biochar in concentration variations (50, 100, and 150 ppm) and contact times (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 minutes). The kinetics review modeling was based on the pseudo first order and pseudo second order to determine the adsorption capacity of methylene blue with red fruit waste biochar. The adsorption equation was evaluated using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The results showed that the most suitable adsorption equilibrium model followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with an equilibrium constant (K) is 0.0510 and the maximum adsorption capacity (Qm) is 0.0048 mg/g. The kinetics model of the methylene blue adsorption reaction based on the pseudo second order with the value of k is 0.6973 min-1 and a relation coefficient value of R2 = 1.

Abstract

Abstrak- Hidrotermal treatment merupakan salah satu proses konversi biomassa menggunakan air sebagai media sekaligus reaktan dalam prosesnya. Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan proses hidrotermal terhadap tempurung kelapa, yang merupakan salah satu sumber biomassa yang jumlahnya cukup besar di Indonesia. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan autoklaf yang beroperasi secara batch dan  dilengkapi dengan pengaduk, sensor temperatur dan tekanan. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan variasi berupa perbandingan Biomass Water (B/W ratio) 1:20 dan suhu 240, 270, 300, 330 0C. Tempurung kelapa yang sudah dihaluskan (berukuran -32+48 mesh) sebanyak 7,5 gram dicampur dengan 150 ml air. Kemudian dimasukkan dalam autoklaf yang kemudian ditutup rapat. Sebelum dimulai ekperimen, udara yang ada di dalam autoklaf di-purge menggunakan gas N2 sebanyak tiga kali, kemudian tekanan di dalam autoklaf dinaikkan menjadi 10 bar juga dengan memasukkan gas N2. Setelah itu, pemanas dinyalakan untuk mencapai suhu yang diharapkan, dan dipertahankan selama 30 menit, dan kemudian pemanas dimatikan. Setelah autoklaf dingin, campuran dikeluarkan dari dalam autoklaf dan kemudian disaring dengan bantuan pompa vacuum. Padatan yang tersaring kemudian dihitung yield-nya dan dianalisis dengan proximate dan ultimate analysis. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut diperoleh hasil bahwa semakin tinggi suhu yang digunakan maka semakin rendah yield produk arang yang dihasilkan. Yield yang diperoleh yaitu 50,60% (240 0C) dan 32,44% (330 0C). Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa kandungan carbon dalam padatan naik, diiringi dengan penurunan kandungan oksigen yang menyebabkan naiknya nilai kalor produk padatan. Nilai kalor tertinggi dicapai pada suhu 330 0C yakni sebesar 6.282 cal/g. Kata kunci: hidrotermal, biomassa, yield, nilai kalor.
