Abstract

This research aims to understand the effect of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on the body length and head diameter of chicken embryos. The samples used in this research were 3 days chicken egg embryos weighed at 55 g. The samples were divided into two groups, the control group (without DMSO) and treatment group (injected with 0.25 mL of 2% DMSO). Each group was incubated at 38oC for 10 days, and the observed variables were embryos body length and head diameter through macroscopic observation. The results showed that 2% DMSO did not affect the embryos body length, but increase its head diameter. The research concludes that DMSO can be used as chemical solvent with consideration of its effect on the increased embryos head diameter.

Abstract

Coryza (snot) kown as respiratory disease in chickens caused by Haemophilus paragalinarum. Coryza is a disease that often occurs and results in large economic losses impact. The aim of this study was to look and diagnose changes in macroscopic and microscopic (histopathology) in chickens that have been examined and suspected of Coryza (snot) disease. The organs examined are palpabrae (eyes), trachea, pancreas and cerebellum. Examining and observing macroscopic changes, swelling of the palpabrae, tracheal hemorrhages and pancreatic hemorrhages and cerebellum were normal. Microscopic changes seen in palpabrae are oedema, hemorrhage and blood clot found, tracheal epithelial erosion, hemorrhage, multiplication of goblet cells and inflammatory infiltration of PMN cells, pancreas shown  there is an inflammatory cell infiltration and fibrosis necrosis, and infiltrating cell inflammation in cerebellum. From examinations and observations it can be concluded that macroscopic and microscopic changes lead to the suspected Coryza (snot) disease.

Abstract

Canine allergies has a most common symptoms occur as skin irritations : itching, scratching, digging, and gnawing at the skin, often to the point of creating open raw wounds over large areas of the body. For the confirmation diagnosis, the patient has to be checked by laboratories examination. Based on anamneses, clinical examination  and laboratories, it is logical to conclude that this dog which names choky suffers toxic allergic because of toxic accumulation from his food and the prognose was fausta. The treatments which were given for the dog are changing dog food, reducing the total protein in food at least one week, dietic protein and increasing exercise, also scalling for decreasing the plack in dog teeth. Moreover, Choky was given transfer factor supplement and antihistamin with low dosage.

Abstract

The native chickens collected from the Blimbing Malang Market were found with a state of lethargy and diarrhea. Native chickens were dissected to find out pathological abnormalities that occurred in the chicken's body by carrying out physical examinations and histopathological examinations. Based on the results of observations and examinations carried out both macroscopically and microscopically after necropsy chickens, the organs of chickens that have pathological abnormalities are the duodenum, jejunum and pulmo. The duodenum and jejunum had nematode infestations which showed villi erosion, hemorrhage, liquefactive necrosis, and inflammatory cell infiltration. Pulmo had hemorrhagic parabronchii, atelectasis of blood capillaries, cloudy swelling, and congestion of blood vessels. The visible abnormality of the small intestine organ damage leads to chicken disease to nematode worm infestation.

Abstract

Kolitis merupakan sub tipe inflamatory bowel disease yang ditandai adanya segmen inflamasi dan ulserasi pada usus. Gejala khas yang ditimbulkan adalah diare berdarah. Ayam broiler sebagai hewan model kolitis dengan induksi Dextran Sodium Sulfate (DSS). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh DSS terhadap performa ayam broiler meliputi pertambahan bobot badan harian, FCR, dan indeks performa serta jumlah total BAL dalam sekum ayam broiler. Ayam berjumlah 32 ekor umur 15 hari dibagi menjadi delapan ekor per kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (P0), dan kelompok perlakuan yang diinduksi DSS dengan konsentrasi 0,75%(P1); 0,5%(P2); 2,25%(P3) per hari selama enam hari dengan dicampurkan air minum. Bobot badan ayam ditimbang setiap tiga hari sekali dan pakan ditimbang setiap hari untuk perhitungan FCR. Ayam dieuthanasia umur 21 hari dan swab sekum dikultur pada media MRSA serta jumlah koloni dihitung dengan metode TPC. Analisis data menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA. Uji lanjutan post hoc tukey dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Perhitungan Bakteri Asam Laktat menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signfikan (p<0,05) terhadap kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan mulai dari konsentrasi 0,75%. Induksi DSS dengan konsentrasi 2,25% berpengaruh terhadap PBBH secara signifikan (p<0,05), dan menurunkan indeks performa ayam broiler. Induksi DSS tidak berpengaruh signifikan (p>0,05) terhadap nilai FCR ayam broiler. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa induksi DSS pada berbagai tingkat dosis dapat menurunkan jumlah bakteri asam laktat dan induksi DSS konsentrasi 2,25% dapat menurunkan performa ayam broiler.

Abstract

Feline herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1) atau feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR) merupakan agen penyakit saluran respirasi atas yang penting pada kucing. Hal ini disebabkan transmisi penyakit yang mudah. Kucing terinfeksi melalui kontak langsung dengan sekreta konjungtival atau oronasal dari kucing yang terinfeksi. Tujuan studi ini yaitu melihat kondisi patologi secara makroskopik dan mikroskopis pada kucing yang diduga terinfeksi virus rhinotracheitis. Organ yang diperiksa antara lain trakea, paru, dan limpa. Perubahan patologi yang terjadi pada organ-organ tersebut yaitu pneumonia interstitial edematous dan emfisema pulmonum, kongesti pada arteri trabecular dan tracheitis hemoragika.
