Abstract

This study aims to compare the implementation of the independent curriculum of two institutions in Sukoharjo District, namely TK Teladan and RA STIBA AZKIYAA. The study used a descriptive research approach to analyze the implementation of the independent curriculum at Teladan Kindergarten. Data was collected through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. This research was conducted for 3 months and used the principal and accompanying teacher of class B2 of Teladan Kindergarten and RA STIBA AZKIYA as research informants. The differences researchers found in implementing the independent curriculum in TK Teladan show the full utilization of the independent curriculum. In contrast, RA Stiba Azkiya is still in the process of fully implementing the curriculum. The findings suggest that Teladan Kindergarten's approach, which supports active learning, is highly effective in allowing children to explore and develop discipline and responsibility. However, RA Stiba Azkiya needs further time and support to implement the independent curriculum fully. Evaluations differ, with TK Teladan evaluating after each lesson and RA Stiba Azkiya reporting every 3 to 6 months. Both institutions recommended providing more intensive training and support to teachers to improve the implementation of the self-directed curriculum.

Abstract

Digital Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education: Exploring Teacher and Parent knowledge, expectations, and problems. Objectives: This study identifies teachers’ and parents’ knowledge, expectations, and problems related to the implementation of digital pedagogy in ECE. Methods: A mixed-methods approach was used to present quantitative and qualitative data in an explanatory design. The main respondents in this study were teachers. Data related to parents were obtained from teachers’ answers, which were also filled in the questionnaire. There were 196 respondents of ECE teachers from 5 provinces in Indonesia. Quantitative data analysis with SPSS version 25 software was used to examine perceptions, abilities, and correlations between both. Qualitative data using thematic analysis to identify expectations and problems related to digital pedagogy implementation. Findings: Teachers have positive perceptions but low digital pedagogy implementation capabilities. The quantitative data findings regarding low teacher capabilities (average score <3.0) are confirmed by the qualitative data findings regarding challenges to the implementation of digital pedagogy in the teacher training needs and infrastructure limitations as the most significant potential factors. Several expectations were found related to improving teacher competency and technical understanding of the use of digital devices. Other challenges to implementing digital pedagogy include a lack of parental support and several issues related to children’s physical, social, and psychological health. Conclusion: Teachers’ knowledge of digital pedagogy confirms paradoxical interactions. Positive perceptions are not yet in line with teachers’ abilities in implementing digital pedagogy. Play-based Digital Pedagogy (PBDP) and Domestication theory have excellent potential to be considered in this context. This theory is able to provide clear guidelines to improve teachers’ abilities in implementing digital pedagogy ideally. Furthermore, the phases recommended by domestication theory are expected to be able to meet expectations and resolve obstacles to the implementation of digital pedagogy. Keywords: pedagogy, digital, early childhood, teacher competency, domestication theory.

Abstract

Abstrak  Pendidikan saat ini berada di era revolusi industri 4.0. Maka dari itu, pendidikan dituntut untuk selalu berinovasi mengikuti perkembangan zaman. Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) merupakan pondasi pendidikan harus bersiap dan berinovasi untuk menghadapi perkembangan zaman. Salah satu media pembelajaran digital yang efektif diterapkan di PAUD adalah whiteboard animation. Guru dapat menyampaikan materi pembelajaran kepada anak usia dini secara jelas sesuai dengan tema dan materi yang sedang berjalan melalui whiteboard animation. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk meningkatkan ketrampilan guru PAUD dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran digital untuk menghadapi era revolusi industri 4.0. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di TK LKMD Marsudisiwi dan TK Siwi Peni, Gugus 2 Bougenville, Kecamatan Laweyan, Surakarta. Materi yang disampaikan dalam pengabdian ini, terdiri dari: 1) pemberian materi media pembelajaran digital berbasis whiteboard animation, 2) workshop media pembelajaran digital berbasis whiteboard animation, 3) simulasi kelompok kecil pendampingan pembuatan media pembelajaran digital berbasis whiteboard animation, 4) implementasi whiteboard animation dalam pembelajaran daring sesuai tema berjalan, dan 5) evaluasi dan rencana tindak lanjut. Kegiatan ini berlangsung dengan memadukan berbagai metode, yaitu metode ceramah, tanya jawab, demonstrasi, dan praktik langsung. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam jaringan (daring)/ online melalui zoom meeting dan whatsapp group. Hasil kegiatan ini, semua peserta dapat membuat media pembelajaran digital whiteboard animation sesuai dengan tema dan tujuan pembelajaran yang diharapkan. Kata kunci: media pembelajaran digital; whiteboard animation; guru PAUD

Abstract

Problems often arise regarding the not-yet optimal creativity of early childhood due to the lack of freedom in playing, the many prohibitions, and learning activities that are less fun for children. These problems can be overcome by applying the role-playing method. This scientific article aims to recognize and determine the impact of the role-playing method on early childhood creativity. The method used in this article is a literature study with data analysis using narrative synthesis. Data and information collection is carried out by collecting, reading, understanding, criticizing, and reviewing 33 reputable and relevant reading sources in the 2015-2021 publication range. This scientific article succeeded in finding the positive and negative impacts of the application of the role-playing method on early childhood creativity. The positive impacts that arise include (a) Children feel happy so they can produce something out of the box; (b) The nature of the imagination is stimulated; (c) Children like challenges; (d) Curiosity is stimulated; (e) The child's speaking ability and self-confidence develop; (f) More proficient in problem-solving; and (g) Able to make decisions and willing to accept consequences. Meanwhile, the negative impact is that it takes a long time, educators are less creative, and children become passive. The recommendation given is that other researchers are advised to study more deeply in the impact of role-playing on creativity in early childhood.AbstrakSering munculnya problematika mengenai belum optimalnya kreativitas anak usia dini akibat kurangnya kebebasan dalam bermain, banyaknya larangan, dan kegiatan pembelajaran yang kurang menyenangkan bagi anak. Permasalahan tersebut dapat diatasi dengan menerapkan metode bermain peran. Tujuan artikel ilmiah ini yaitu untuk mengenal dan mengetahui dampak metode bermain peran terhadap kreativitas anak usia dini. Metode yang digunakan dalam artikel ini adalah literature review dengan analisis data menggunakan narrative synthesis. Pengumpulan data dan informasi dilaksanakan dengan mengumpulkan, membaca, memahami, mengkritik, dan me-review 33 sumber bacaan yang reputasi dan relevan dengan rentang publikasi tahun 2015-2021. Artikel ilmiah ini berhasil menemukan dampak positif dan dampak negatif dari penerapan metode bermain peran terhadap kreativitas anak usia dini. Dampak positif yang muncul meliputi (a) Anak merasa senang sehingga mampu menghasilkan sesuatu yang out of the box; (b) Sifat imajinasi terstimulasi; (c) Anak menyukai tantangan; (d) Rasa ingin tahu terstimulasi; (e) Kemampuan berbicara dan kepercayaan diri anak berkembang; (f) Semakin mahir dalam hal pemecahan masalah; serta (g) Mampu mengambil keputusan dan mau menerima konsekuensi. Sedangkan, untuk dampak negatifnya adalah membutuhkan waktu yang lama, pendidik yang kurang kreatif, dan anak menjadi pasif. Rekomendasi yang diberikan yaitu peneliti lain disarankan untuk mengkaji lebih mendalam mengenai dampak bermain peran terhadap kreativitas pada anak usia dini.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the process and learning outcomes through STEM based on loose parts that can improve the creativity of children in group B Kindergarten Aisyiyah Sumber III Surakarta in 2019. The subjects of this study were 20 children. The research method used in this study is Classroom Action Research by Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which includes four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. This study consisted of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 meetings. The data analysis technique used in this study is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative data analysis by analyzing data from observations, documentations, and interviews during the study with the steps of data reduction, data display and data verification. Quantitative data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis that compares results obtained from pre-intervention, first cycle and second cycle. The results of this study indicate an increase in early childhood creativity through STEM learning based on loose parts, it can be proved  completeness of pre-intervention creativity by 20%. Then it increased in the first cycle by 55% and the second cycle by 90%. ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan proses dan hasil pembelajaran melalui STEM berbasis loose parts yang dapat meningkatkan kreativitas anak kelompok B TK Aisyiyah Sumber III Surakarta Tahun 2019. Subjek penelitian ini berjumlah 20 anak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang meliputi empat tahap yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus, masing-masing siklus terdiri dari 4 kali pertemuan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Analisis data kualitatif dengan cara menganalisis data dari hasil observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara selama penelitian dengan langkah-langkah reduksi data, display data dan verifikasi data. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif yaitu membandingkan hasil yang diperoleh dari pra-intervensi, siklus pertama dan siklus kedua. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kreativitas anak usia dini melalui pembelajaran STEM berbasis loose parts, dapat dibuktikan ketuntasan kreativitas pra-intervensi sebesar 20%. Kemudian mengalami peningkatan pada siklus I sebesar 55% dan siklus II sebesar 90%.
