Abstract

Pendahuluan: Minyak jelantah merupakan limbah rumah tangga yang sering dibuang sembarangan dan berpotensi mencemari lingkungan serta membahayakan kesehatan. Di Desa Majalengka Kulon, tingginya angka kemiskinan dan rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pengelolaan limbah menjadi tantangan tersendiri. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai pengelolaan minyak jelantah menjadi sabun sebagai solusi terhadap pencemaran lingkungan dan peningkatan ekonomi lokal. Metode: Pendekatan partisipatif melalui pelatihan pembuatan sabun berbasis minyak jelantah, sosialisasi dampak lingkungan, serta dokumentasi kegiatan dalam bentuk publikasi ilmiah dan media massa. Hasil: Masyarakat mampu mengelola minyak jelantah menjadi sabun padat yang layak dan bernilai jual, serta menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman terhadap dampak lingkungan dari limbah minyak goreng. Kesimpulan: Pengolahan minyak jelantah menjadi sabun dapat menjadi solusi terpadu dalam mengatasi pencemaran lingkungan dan memberdayakan ekonomi masyarakat desa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description (profile) of students' conceptual understanding of the mole concept material through the 5E learning model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate This study uses a qualitative method. The research was conducted in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year in class X-E2 at SMA Negeri 36 Jakarta, involving 36 students. Data in this study were obtained from observation sheets, interviews, reflective journals, student worksheets, teacher notes, and summative tests of conceptual understanding based on the aspects of conceptual understanding according to Anderson and Krathwohl (2001). The 5E learning model consists of five stages, namely engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation. The level of understanding possessed by students will be analyzed and grouped into four categories in the level of conceptual understanding adapted from Abraham, et.al (1992), namely understanding, lack of understanding, misconceptions, and not understanding. The results of the analysis of students' conceptual understanding show that most students are in the “understanding” category. The highest percentage for the “understanding” category is in the aspect of giving examples and concluding with a value of 100%. The lowest percentage for the “understanding” category is in the aspect of comparing with a value of 75.00%. So based on these data it can be concluded that the application of the 5E learning model can help students improve concept understanding on the material of the mole concept and increase the activeness of students in learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menguji efektivitas modul studi pemisahan berbasis adsorpsi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa calon guru kimia. Metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE diterapkan dalam pengembangan modul yang mengintegrasikan studi kasus nyata remediasi ion Pb²⁺ menggunakan adsorben biomassa kopi terenkapsulasi kalsium alginat. Hasil validasi ahli menunjukkan modul layak digunakan pada aspek kesesuaian materi, kerangka/pembelajaran, dan kebahasaan. Uji efektivitas terhadap 36 mahasiswa melalui desain one group pretest-posttest membuktikan peningkatan signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis dengan nilai N-Gain 0,245. Modul ini tidak hanya berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai model pedagogis dalam melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis, sehingga direkomendasikan untuk implementasi dalam pembelajaran kimia pemisahan.

Abstract

Understanding students’ cognitive structure is essential for improving conceptual learning in science, particularly in challenging topics such as the rate of reactions. However, many students struggle with fragmented knowledge and misconceptions in this area. This study investigates how the 8E Learning Cycle model supports the development of students’ cognitive structure, analyzed through the flow map method. The participants were 33 Senior high school students, and a qualitative approach was employed using multiple data sources (flow maps, worksheets, interviews, journals, observations, and comprehension tests). Cognitive structure was examined based on Tsai’s six variables: extent, richness, integration, misconceptions, information retrieval rate, and flexibility. Results indicated that at the beginning of instruction, students’ average scores on cognitive structure variables were low, while misconceptions were frequent. After engaging in the 8E Learning Cycle, students demonstrated notable improvement across all variables, accompanied by a marked reduction in misconceptions. This study provides empirical evidence that the 8E Learning Cycle model effectively strengthens students’ cognitive structures in science learning, offering a practical framework for addressing conceptual difficulties in reaction rate topics
