The translation quality is examined using translation quality assessment of Nababan et al (2012). The analyses are carried out using Santosa’s methods (2017), a modification of Spreadly’s, following the analysis steps of domain, taxonomy, componential and culture findings. The results show that there are five translation techniques practiced by the translator, namely established equivalent, pure borrowings, deletion, variation, and implicit. The translation quality appears to gain 2.7. This score means that the translation is quite good. While the translation accuracy takes the highest score of 2.9, followed by acceptability 2.8, and readability having 2.5.

Abstract

Writing is one of the skills that English learners must master. However, in Indonesia where English is taught as a Foreign language (EFL), it has become the most challenging skill to learn. One of the factors is the difference in the usage of subject and verb in the sentence. This paper aims to see the impact of Google Classroom usage on the learning process of writing simple sentences, specifically the accuracy of writing the Subject Verb (S-V) agreement and students’ perception of using this online tool in writing activities. A mixed-method approach is used in this study where one group pretest-posttest of writing accuracy is done for 77 Electrical Engineering students, Jakarta State Polytechnic. For qualitative data analysis, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) are conducted. The result shows an increase in the accuracy of students’ writing accuracy specifically on the writing of  S-V agreement. Furthermore, students believe that Google Classroom in the writing class is beneficial due to lesson hand-outs distribution and assignment submission efficiency.

Abstract

Madani Open School Depok is an alternative educational institution serving junior and senior high school students who are unable to attend regular schooling. This school faces various challenges, such as limited access to technology, low student motivation, minimal learner engagement, and a lack of teaching materials that support effective learning, particularly in English subjects. To address these issues, this community service activity aims to develop and assist in the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) based on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) to improve the quality of English language learning. The method used is Service Learning (SL), which involves the direct application of academic knowledge by lecturers and students in the community. The activity consists of five main stages: MOOC socialization, instructional content design, training and mentoring in LMS use, monitoring of student learning progress, and the development of an integrated evaluation system. The results of the activity indicate that an LMS based on MOOC provides an effective solution for improving access, quality, and participation in learning. Additionally, the school now has a digital learning system that supports attendance tracking, assignment submission, and the provision of learning materials that can be accessed flexibly by students.  Keywords—LMS, MOOC, English Language Learning, Open School Abstrak Sekolah Terbuka Madani Depok merupakan lembaga pendidikan alternatif yang melayani siswa SMP dan SMA yang tidak dapat bersekolah di jalur reguler.
