Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' reading comprehension related to the main idea. Three processes were carried out, namely pretest, treatment and post-test consisting of six meetings. This study is a pre-test and post-test study. The population in this study were students of class X.2 SMA Islam Terpadu Wahdah Islamiyah Makassar and sampling using random sampling technique. The sample in this study was 27 students of class X. The research instrument was a narrative text consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. The data results showed that there was a difference between students' pre-test and post-test. The main score of students before being given treatment was 42.59 and increased to 62.59 after implementing Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR). The results of data analysis using the independent T test showed that Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 was lower than 0.05 so that (Ha) was accepted and (Ho) was rejected. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that Collaborative Strategy Reading can improve the ability to read English texts of tenth grade students of SMA Islam Terpadu Wahdah Islamiyah Makassar

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the audio lingual method on the speaking skills of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 6 Bontoramba. This research is an experimental study where there are two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The sample of this study was class VIII students consisting of 18 students for the experimental class and 18 students for the control class. The instrument in this study used tests, namely pre-test and post-test. The data in this study were obtained from tests that have been carried out, namely pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed using the SPSS version 22 application. The result of the study showed that the average pre-test score of students in the experimental class was 45.22 while the average post-test score of experimental 64.44, while the average pre-test of control class was 41.83 and the average post-test in the control class was 54.72 where Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, the reseacher concluded that there was an improvement in students’ speaking using the audio lingual method in the experimental class SMP Negeri 6 Bontoramba.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies used by English teachers in supporting the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum at SMA Negeri 13 Makassar. The Merdeka Belajar Curriculum emphasizes flexible and student-centered learning, adapting learning processes to individual student needs.This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of the research were two English teaching at SMA Negeri 13 Makassar. Data were collected through classroom observations and semi structured interviews. Data analysis techniques used include data presentation, conclusion drawing, and trigulation to ensure data validity. The resualt showed that English teachers implemented three main strategies in the learning process, namely cooperative learning, differentiated learning, and problem based learning ( PBL ). Cooperative learning was used to enhance collaboration among students in speaking tasks. Differentiated learning were applied by adjusting the material and method based on students’ abilities and learning styles. Meanwhile, PBL was implemented by assigning challenging tasks that required students to solve problems and present solution independently and actively. In conclusion , the strategies used by English teachers align with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, namely meaningful learning , students-centeredneess, and providing space for student potential and learning independence.
