Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of teaching English based on the Merdeka curriculum at SMPN 1 Gorontalo. It answers those questions, namely curriculum structure, learning achievement, learning and assessment, use of teaching devices. This research used descriptive qualitative method by using observation sheets, unstructured interview. It also documented RPS, lesson material, and students’ assignment. The data was analyzed through data reduction, data display, and data conclusion. The results of this study showed that the implementation of Merdeka curriculum in teaching English at SMPN 1 Gorontalo was in accordance with the provisions or regulations contained in the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Republic of Indonesia number 262/M/2022.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this research is to know the scientific implementation of the process on the Fiqh study, constraints and solutions on the MI Muhammadiyah Pone-Limboto West The approach used in this research is a descriptant approach with the type of research Qualitative. The results showed that: (1) The Scientific implementation of the process on Fiqh learning at the MI Muhammadiyah Pone-Limboto West, has been running quite well, where the teacher in learning using scientific approaches Observing activities, solicitation, trying, collecting information, associating, and communicating. (2) Constraints in the Scientific implementation of the process on Fiqh learning in MI Muhammadiyah Pone-Limboto west, namely the lack of understanding the teacher in the balance of learning with scientific approaches, Lack of interest in asking students, and the lack of infrastructure that supports learning in the form of learning resources is also one obstacle in implementing curriculum-based Learning 2013 using scientific prosecution. The solution that can be done by the school is to involve the teachers in seminars, trainings and training on the curriculum of 2013, and try to hold a learning resource in the form of books that are still lacking, by copying the book. Abstract

Background: United Kingdom textbooks are a medium for delivering material, good material must be supported by good textbooks in accordance with the 8 ideal criteria of textbooks. Purpose: This study aims to analyze and describe the United Kingdom textbooks used in SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo Regency Method: This study uses a qualitative method with an approach to analyzing the content of textbooks. Data was obtained through an observation system on topics, language aspects, task forms for 4 language skills, and task structure in each chapter of the book. The textbook analyzed is a textbook for high school students in grade X published by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the K-13 curriculum edition in 2017 Results and Discussion: The results of the study show that of the 8 criteria for a good textbook, this book meets the 5 criteria set. The 5 criteria are having clear goals and approaches, book design and organization, language content, language skills, language topics and practice situations Conclusions and Implications: This study concludes that this book is worthy of being recommended to be used as a textbook for students. This research has implications for efforts to improve students' mastery of United Kingdom language skills through the teaching materials in the textbooks used

Abstract

Foreign language anxiety is a type of anxiety that is experienced by individuals when learning, speaking, or interacting in a foreign language. Some scholars have been interested to investigate the foreign language anxietyin the classroom and identified the cause of students’ foreign language anxiety, either in international context or Indonesia context. Most of the factors related to the linguistic aspect, such as students lack vocabulary, students lack of pronunciation, and do not understand of teacher’s talk. However, the research about factors of foreign language anxiety is caused by non-linguistic aspect was still undergrown. This research came to stipulate the gap of knowledge. This research used qualitative method and study case design. It took 20 students of English Education Department FITK IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo who have Upper-Intermediate proficiency level. The instruments of research used foreign language anxiety scale to identify factors of students’ foreign language anxiety and in-depth interview to know the students’ reason of being anxiety in foreign language classroom. It used triangulation method in analysing data, namely reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusion. The results showing that there were 3 non-linguistic aspects in causing students’ foreign language anxiety. First, they felt worried if they had to speak in front of the class and answered the lecturer's questions voluntarily. Second, they felt worried if they do not understand what the lecturer is talking about. Third, they felt worried if they did not prepare before the lesson started. Fourth, students felt worried if they would get a bad score. This result implied to the teacher’s technique in asking the students to speak in front of the classmate. Therefore, the research suggested to apply small group discussion in teaching and learning speaking skill in foreign language classroom.
