Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) describes the well-being in a country. MMR in Indonesia keeps on increasing, becoming a concern to lower the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) with efforts to use contraception. Preliminary surveys found that there are still a lot of mothers in this program who have not used contraceptive methods. This study aims to determine the relationship of contraceptive method selection factors with the use of contraception in the program 1000 days early in life in Payangan Gianyar. The design used was analytical research with cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in Payangan Gianyar which is where the program is carried out with a sample number of 161 people. The research time will be carried out from December 2021 to March 2022. The data is obtained through the primary data of the questionnaire. The data will be analyzed in univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The results of the study in the bivariate test showed that there was a significant relationship between age, education level, parity, knowledge level, and birth control acceptor attitude with the use of contraceptives in the 1000 Days Early Life Program in Payangan Gianyar. However, there is no significant relationship between work, birth control information, and husband support. The results of the multivariate test analysis showed that the variables of age, education, knowledge and attitude of birth control acceptors had a significant relationship with the use of contraceptives. The hope is to be more optimized quality and quantity regarding health promotion regarding the use of contraceptives.

Abstract

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is one of the highest in the world. According to WHO, in 2017, 830 mothers in the world died due to complications that occurred during pregnancy and childbirth. One of the main factors causing maternal death according to WHO are prolonged labor. This research determine the differences in anxiety levels of mothers in the first stage of latent phase labor at the Mangusada Hospital after administering classical music distraction. Through this research, we can also determine the level of anxiety among mothers giving birth at the Mangusada Hospital using the PRAQ-R2 instrument which is valid and reliable. This research design uses quantitative research methods with an experimental and one group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study was all women giving birth in the first stage of the latent phase at the Mangusada Hospital from July to September with a total of 40 people. Univariate analysis showed that the majority of mothers were 25 years old, primiparous, with a gestational age of 38 weeks. Then the difference anxiety level measured using a non-parametric test, namely Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. Wilcoxon showed a significant reduction in anxiety levels in mothers in the first stage of labor after being given treatment. This is proven by the value p < 0.001. Based on the results of the analysis, there were differences in the anxiety levels of mothers in the first stage of latent phase labor at the Mangusada Hospital after giving classical music distraction techniques.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia's increasing population has prompted government efforts in family planning, with the recommended long-term contraceptive method being the intrauterine device (IUD), although its usage rate remains low. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between knowledge levels and attitudes of pregnant women toward IUD contraceptive planning. Methods: This study used an analytical, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 52 respondents: 26 who had used IUDs and 26 who had never used IUDs. Respondent data takers used consecutive sampling methods in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The primary data was collected using a questionnaire. The variables used included age, education, occupation, number of children, knowledge, attitude, and IUD use. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: This study found that 57.7% of respondents were aged 21-30 years; 50.0% had a bachelor's level of education; 34.6% of respondents worked as private employees; 50.0% of respondents had one child; respondents' knowledge level was 73.1% good; and a positive attitude of 76.9%. This study also found a significant positive relationship between attitude and knowledge of IUD use, with a p<0.001 value. Conclusions: It can thus be concluded that the level of knowledge is related to the attitude of pregnant women toward the use of IUD contraception, which can be a basis for designing more effective interventions in improving public understanding and acceptance of this contraceptive method.

Abstract

Background: Maternal health remains a major public health priority. Maternal health literacy is essential for recognizing pregnancy danger signs and making timely use of maternal health services. Community-based education can improve knowledge, while integrating basic screening may increase the relevance of health messages by linking education with individual health assessment. Objective: This study evaluated changes in maternal health knowledge after an integrated community-based maternal health education and screening program among pregnant women in Bali, Indonesia. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest study was conducted among 15 pregnant women in Carangsari Village, Bali, recruited purposively from local maternal health services. The program combined education on pregnancy danger signs, maternal nutrition, anemia prevention, and oral health with hemoglobin testing, mid-upper arm circumference measurement, and oral health examination. Maternal knowledge was measured using the same structured questionnaire before and after the program. Descriptive statistics summarized participant characteristics and knowledge scores, and a paired t-test assessed the pre-post change in overall knowledge. Results: The mean overall maternal knowledge score increased from 56.0 before the program to 82.7 after the program, an absolute increase of 26.7 points and a relative increase of 47.7% (p < 0.001). Improvements were also observed across all four knowledge domains, with the largest relative increase in knowledge of pregnancy danger signs. Conclusion: The integrated community-based program was associated with a substantial immediate improvement in maternal knowledge. Because the study used a small purposive sample and had no control group, the findings should be interpreted as preliminary and should be confirmed in larger controlled studies.
