Abstract

Ho Kie San Noodle Factory is one of the MSMEs in Patikraja District, Central Java that produces traditional noodles. Previously, the community service team had assisted this partner in increasing its production potential. However, there are still many improvements that can be made. The management conveyed the need for Kaizen (continuous improvement) material. Therefore, community service activities were carried out again in this factory. The method used is training. There were 9 participants who attended, representing the human resource department, finance department, general department, administration department, technical department, production department, inventory department and marketing department. The stages of the activities carried out were factory surveys and interviews with management, training implementation preparation, compiling training materials, filling preliminary questionnaires, training to representatives of each department within the company regarding the concept of continuous improvement and streamlined, and filling evaluation questionnaires. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it was found that the level of understanding of the participants increased after the training. Providing materials of Kaizen (continuous improvement) as well as production flow streamlining can help participants in streamlining the flow in each department and can also give motivation to continue making improvements in each department.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance elementary school students’ understanding of bridge structural concepts and simple electrical circuits through individual project-based STEM learning. The activity was conducted with Grade 3–4 students in the Cibogo area, utilizing simple materials such as popsicle sticks, LEDs, wires, batteries, and switches as learning media. The methodology integrated community-based research, participatory learning, and action research approaches, in which the activities were designed based on the needs of the target community, actively engaged students in the learning process, and incorporated reflective practices for continuous improvement. Evaluation was carried out using a questionnaire to assess students’ understanding of bridge structures, simple electrical circuits, and their responses to the activity. The evaluation results indicated that most students were able to comprehend the fundamental concepts introduced and showed positive responses to the project-based learning activities (85% for bridge construction and 78% for electrical circuits). In addition to improved conceptual understanding, students demonstrated high levels of interest and enthusiasm throughout the activity. It can be concluded that this activity was effective in providing meaningful and contextual learning experiences. Future implementations may be further developed by strengthening introductory materials and diversifying project models to enhance the quality and sustainability of STEM learning in elementary school environments.

Abstract

Distribusi produk di sepanjang rantai pasokan, yang secara langsung mempengaruhi biaya rantai pasokan adalah key driver dari profitabilitas perusahaan secara keseluruhan. Biaya distribusi bahkan menyumbang sekitar 30% dari biaya produk. Oleh karena itu, masalah distribusi merupakan pertimbangan penting untuk perusahaan industri yang memiliki jaringan rantai pasokan. Penelitian ini mempertimbangkan masalah distribusi dua tahap dari rantai pasokan yang dikaitkan dengan biaya tetap. Dua jenis biaya terlibat dalam masalah ini adalah biaya berkelanjutan yang meningkat secara linier sesuai dengan jumlah produk yang dikirim antara sumber dan tujuan serta biaya kedua adalah biaya tetap yang terjadi setiap kali jumlah yang tidak nol dikirimkan antara sumber dan tujuan. Tujuan yang ingin dicapai adalah meminimalisasi total biaya distribusi. Metode heuristik konstruktif sederhana yang didasari oleh metode aproksimasi Vogel akan dievaluasi untuk kualitas dari solusinya dengan membandingkannya dengan solusi yang dihasilkan dari metode genetika (GA) dan sebuah metode heuristik lain. Hasil perbandingan menunjukkan bahwa metode heuristik tersebut memiliki solusi yang baik dan dapat dipertimbangkan untuk digunakan dalam praktik. Metode heuristik tersebut dapat diselesaikan dengan perhitungan yang cukup sederhana dan membutuhkan waktu yang cukup singkat.

Abstract

PT Kahatex is a textile company that has implemented the Kaizen concept in its production process. However, in practice, partners still encounter obstacles, namely in terms of the participation of all employees in making changes and determining the right methods that are in line with the Kaizen philosophy in solving problems on the production floor. This community service activity in the form of training was carried out to provide understanding and direction to partners regarding real examples of the application of easy-to-do methods on the production floor in relation to continuous improvement. The community service activity was carried out from January 8 to 26, 2024, which consisted of the preparation and implementation stages of the training. The community service team consisted of 6 lecturers and 5 students, while the training participants consisted of 20 PT Kahatex employees. The result of this training activity was an increase in the percentage of participants who fully understand the Kaizen material and the benefits of its application as well as 5W1H and examples of its application, from initially between 15% - 25% to between 60% - 75%.
