<![CDATA[Artikel ini menyorot pemikiran politik Rachid al-Ghannouchi dalam konteks perkembangan harakat politik Islam dan proses demokrasi di Tunisia. Ia melihat idealisme politik yang dikembangkannya dalam pergerakan al-Nahdah berasaskan prinsip kebebasan dan keadilan dan kesannya terhadap perubahan yang tercetus oleh penentangannya terhadap rejim autokratik Habib Bourguiba (1957-1987) dan penerusnya Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali (1987-2011). Kajian ini bersifat kualitatif dalam bentuk tinjauan dokumenter dan analisis kandungan. Ia menerapkan pendekatan historis, deskriptif dan analitis dalam penganalisaan data dan materi yang diperoleh daripada sumber-sumber arkib yang terkait. Temuan kajian mendapati bahawa pergerakan al-Nahdah yang diasaskan bersama oleh al-Ghannouchi pada 1980 mempunyai pengaruh yang luas dalam, ranah politik Islam di Tunisia dalam konteks penentangannya terhadap saki-baki kolonialisme dan autoritarianisme dan ideologi politiknya yang bobrok. Pengaruh pemikiran yang dikembangkannya memberi impak yang mengesankan dalam menyatukan kekuatan-kekuatan Islam dan sekular yang berlandaskan prinsip hukum, ideal kebebasan dan demokrasi.]]>

<![CDATA[The paper discusses the foundational role of al-Quran and Prophetic narrations (al-hadith) in Islamic intellectual history and its religious tradition. It looks into the cultural impact of its moral-spiritual teaching and its historical significance in developing and fulfilling its fundamental role and social obligation in delivering and justifying the principal ideal of morality and fairness, contributing to medieval civilization and the formation of higher ethical-legal framework, and its state-of-the-art manifestation as set forth in the tafsir of Risalah al-Nur by Said Nursi. The study is based on library research using historical and qualitative approaches and documentation technique. The finding shows that the position of al-Quran and hadith was vital in informing and shaping the historical concept and understanding and paradigm of tawhid and in reinforcing the religious belief and practice and spiritual consciousness of the ummah. In the context of modern commentary, its philosophical ideas and interpretation were brought forth by Said Nursi in Risalah al-Nur that contextualize its discursive history and outline its religious and scientific significance and transcendental values and its role in the current debates of the philosophy of science, revelation, and scripture.Artikel ini mengulas historisitas Alquran dan hadis serta perannya dalam sejarah Islam dan tradisi intelektual. Ia melihat kesan historis dan dinamika ajaran moral dan spiritualnya dalam menafsirkan pandangannya tentang nilai moralitas dan aspek sosio-historisnya, serta kontribusinya terhadap perkembangan sejarah peradaban, pembentukan hukum, dan manifestasi akliahnya yang dirumuskan dalam buku tafsir Risalah al-Nur oleh Said Nursi. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan menerapkan metode kajian sejarah yang bersifat dokumentasi dan analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keunggulan fungsi Alquran dan Hadis dalam membentuk pemahaman dasar sejarah tentang moral dan nilai-nilai moral serta pengaruhnya dalam memperkuat keyakinan tauhid dan psikologi keagamaan umat. Dalam konteks penafsiran dan signifikansi historisnya, wacana ini disajikan dalam buku Risalah al-Nur karya Said Nursi yang membahas pandangan hidup Alquran dan Hadis serta kesannya dalam membingkai pemahaman wahyu dan sejarahnya dalam konteks pemikiran filosofis dan hukum ilmiah.]]>

<![CDATA[Kajian ini membahaskan metode penelitian hukum yang digariskan oleh Hamka dalam tafsir al-Qurannya, i.e., Tafsir al-Azhar. Ia bertujuan melihat aliran dan konteks pemikiran yang dibawakan dalam perbincangan hukum dan syariah yang terkait dengan aspek pembaharuan dalam ideologi hukum dan fiqh, maqasid, faham maslahah dan usul syariah. Metodologi kajian bersifat kualitatif dari jenis penelitian pustaka. Bahan-bahan kajian diperoleh dari sumber-sumber primer dan sekunder yang terkait dan dianalisis secara deskriptif, analitis dan komparatif. Hasil tinjauan menyimpulkan kesederhanaan dan keluasan pandangan hukumnya yang tidak terikat dengan mana-mana doktrin dan ideologi mazhab. Ia memperlihatkan pandangan yang klasik dan universal yang mempertahankan nilai kebebasan dan ijtihad dan semangat hukum yang rasional dan kontekstual yang terkesan bercorak fiqh nusantara dengan maksud mendekatkan pemahaman hukum dengan nuansa kehidupan masyarakat dan konteks perkembangan Islam di Indonesia yang serba moden dan kosmopolit.]]>

<![CDATA[The paper aims to highlight Muhammad Asad’s epistemological postulate on Islamic politics as reflected in his works on Islamic state. It seeks to address these fundamental problems: what is the legal basis that support and establish Asad’s position of founding an Islamic state? and how could this idea fairly accommodates with the prevailing notion of nation state in post-colonial context. Thus, the study set forth to find the answers based on such range of objectives: to analyse the underlying ideas of Islamic state as advocated in the classical sources, to define the basic constitutional framework as developed by Asad in the context of historical Pakistan, to estimate the implication of implementing Islamic law and its impact on the global politics and its compatibility with international law. In this regards, Asad had formulated the constitutional ideas of Islamic state whose constitution contains the provision of Islamic law that practiced and implemented the norms stated in the Divine Writ. This ideas was partly enshrined in the Pakistan constitutional law whose political establishment was formed in 1947. The paper essentially discussed Muhammad Asad’s political ideas and its underlying philosophy as espoused in his works. The study conducted based on qualitative approaches of the type of library research. The data were analysed by way of descriptive, analytical and comparative technique. The finding shows that Muhammad Asad had formulated comprehensive theoretical framework of legal aspect of Islamic governance drawn up from the fundamental principle and doctrine of the shariah, and its moral norms deriving from the explicit Qur’anic and sunnah text, while also advocating democratic ideals and principles based on conventional practice and requirement of modern context of nation state. Based on this main finding, it is concluded that Islamic teaching and its spiritual norms were compatible with democratic ideal and values of human right, participatory and constitutional government as implemented in the democratic space of Pakistan. ]]>

<![CDATA[This paper discusses Said Nursi’s Qur’anic interpretation, Risalah al-Nur and its historical background and foundational role in Islamic intellectual history and its religious tradition under the repressive secular modern Turkish Republic administration. It looks into the cultural impact of its moral-spiritual teaching and its historical significance in developing and fulfilling the fundamental role of Qur’anic revelation in delivering and justifying the principal of ethics and morality, and its cosmological values in guiding the formation of higher ethical-legal and civilizational framework. The study is based on library research using historical and qualitative approaches and documentation technique. The finding shows that the Risalah al-Nur has set forth through empirical and scientific method, the conclusive truth of the Qur’an and hadith paradigm, by way of similitude and comparison, which provide basic proof of the postulates of its inimitability and miraculousness, that was vital in strengthening the belief of tawhid and in reinforcing the religious and spiritual consciousness of the people. In the context of its interpretation and historical significance, the discourse presented in the Risalah al-Nur emphatically upheld the teaching of the Qur’an and hadith and contextualize its transcendental ideals, philosophy and values to modern life.]]>

Ia menyorot sejarah awal perjuangan beliau dalam menubuhkan Aligarh bagi mencetuskan kebangkitan akliah dan menggerakkan usaha modernisasi pendidikan Islam. Metodologi kajian adalah berdasarkan kaedah induktif, dan deduktif dengan menganalisis penulisan tentang Sir Sayyid dan pemikirannya serta sumbangannya dalam pembangunan Aligarh dan cuba merumuskan pandangan dan sumbangan yang diberikan dari perjuangan dan gerakan intelektual ini kepada pembaharuan dan kebangkitan Islam. Kajian ini penting bagi melihat pengaruh dan kesan daripada perjuangan Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan dalam menegakkan perubahan dan membawa kesedaran dan faham rasionalisme Islam yang meluas. <![CDATA[This paper examines the underlying ideas and scope of maqasid al-syariah (higher objective of Islamic law) propagated by Muhammad al-Tahir ibn ‘Ashur (1879-1973) in his seminal work, Tafsir al-Tahrir wa’l-Tanwir. It looks into the connection between his interpretation and the instrumentality of the verses and its scriptural paradigm designed to bring forth the ideas and doctrines of maqasid and maslahah (common good) in his tafsir. The study is technically based on qualitative method in the form of analytical and logical reasoning. The finding concludes that the Tafsir al-Tahrir wa’l-Tanwir was structurally constructed based on the principle of maqasid al-shariah that ideally expounded its rational and philosophical basis. Its legal formulation was based on the Islamic reference of the Qur’an, hadith, maqasid al-Qur’an (higher objective of the Quran), reason and analogical reasoning and premises. Ibn Ashur’s work had broadly influence the intellectual progress and development of ijtihad oriented toward maqasid as well as dynamic understanding and consciousness of the spirit of law (syariah) in the modern context. ]]>

<![CDATA[The aim of this research is to review its influence on Islamic thought that developed in Malaysia as demonstrated by the moral and spiritual idealism it brings in influencing metaphysical awareness and intellectual traditions as well as the system and basis of education in Malaysia. This study is structured based on qualitative methods, in the form of a literature review and documentary. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively, analytically, historically and synthetically to obtain accurate and scientific conclusions. The findings of the study found Prof. Kamal has made important and influential contributions in the context of awareness and strengthening the ideology of monotheism and its natural view. This study contributes to presenting the ideas he developed in the tradition of modern Islamic thought in terms of designing and implementing the effective foundations of the Islamization of science in Malaysia which include his holistic planning and approach in upholding a monotheistic view of life and bringing forth genuine aspirations and values and cultural manifestations based on the theory of Islamization (Islamiyyatul ma'rifat), the unification of knowledge and values (takamul al-ma'rifi) and the Islamization he introduced in the realm of thought and development. intellectuals in Malaysia]]>
