Abstract

Patriarchal culture remains a major factor contributing to gender inequality across various aspects of life, particularly in the workplace. This social system positions men as the dominant group, while women are often placed in subordinate roles that limit their mobility and opportunities for growth. In professional settings, women face numerous structural barriers, ranging from discrimination in recruitment and wage gaps to limited access to leadership roles or strategic positions. Moreover, social expectations that place domestic responsibilities on women further burden them and restrict their participation in the professional sphere. Gender-based discrimination also frequently manifests in the form of stereotypes, disregard for contributions, and a lack of institutional policy support for equality. These issues create persistent disparities and hinder the full realization of women’s potential. This study aims to analyze the impact of the patriarchal cultural legacy on women's career development and to explore strategies, approaches, and policies that can foster a more just, equitable, and inclusive work environment for all.

Abstract

This article examines the phenomenon of “People Pleasure” among Generation Z, which is the tendency to please others rooted in perfectionism. Through the framework of symbolic interaction theory, this research focuses on how individuals shape meaning from social interaction and communication, as well as the importance of setting self-limits to deal with such behavior. Findings suggest that perfectionism can be a trigger for mental dissatisfaction, as individuals feel pressured to meet their own and others' expectations. This tendency contributes to various mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Therefore, applying the concept of “Self Boundaries” is crucial to maintain a balance between meeting the needs of others and maintaining mental health. This study proposes several strategies, such as increasing self-awareness, setting clear boundaries, and communicating effectively to help individuals overcome the behavior of “People Pleasure.” Overall, this study provides useful insights into the impact of perfectionism and social media on “People Pleasure” behavior, and offers practical approaches to improve Generation Z's mental health in the face of complex social pressures. It is hoped that the results of this study can serve as a reference for the development of interventions in the context of psychology and sociology.

Abstract

The phenomenon of cultism toward religious figures continues to persist despite the entrance of society into an era of cultural modernism, which is characterized by rationality and scientific advancement. This article aims to analyze the factors that trigger the emergence of cultism toward religious leaders through a sociological approach and to explain its influence on modern social life. The method used is a literature review of various scholarly sources, including academic journals and research articles relevant to the theme of cultism in society. The study's findings indicate that cultism arises as a response to socio-economic instability experienced by communities, where the presence of charismatic figures is seen as a beacon of hope for prosperity and liberation from hardship. Society tends to seek authoritative figures who offer certainty in social life. Additionally, the influence of media, feudalistic social structures, and power relations between religious figures and their followers further reinforce this phenomenon. Cultural modernism and the shift toward more moderate religious values do not automatically eliminate cult practices; rather, they transform them into more symbolic and concealed forms. This study recommends the importance of critical religious literacy and the strengthening of social rationality to prevent distortions in the relationship between religious leaders and society.

Abstract

Child marriage is a complex social phenomenon and is influenced by a variety of factors, including social pressures, economic conditions, cultural norms, and media influences. This study aims to analyze the main factors that drive early marriage and its impact on the lives of individuals and society. Based on various studies that have been conducted, it is found that social pressure from the family and the surrounding environment plays a big role in encouraging individuals to marry at a young age, especially for women. In addition, difficult economic conditions often make early marriage seen as a solution to reduce financial burden, especally for women, which leads to limited employment opportunities and financial dependence. In terms of health, teenage pregnancy has a high risk to both mother and baby, including medical complications and a higher mortality rate. Therefore, it is important for the public and the government to increase education about the risks of early marriage and provide policy support that can prevent it. With a better understanding, it is hoped that individuals can make more mature decisions before entering family married life. From a psychological perspective, couples who marry at a young age are more prone to experiencing domestic conflicts due to a lack of emotional readiness and experience in managing long-term relationships. Another negative impact is the inhibition of education and provide policy support that can prevent it. Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of romantic relationships occurring in the corridor of Al-Furqon Mosque at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), which are considered to deviate from the mosque’s function as a place of worship. A descriptive qualitative method was used, with interviews involving members of the Mosque Prosperity Council (DKM), students, and local vendors as primary data sources, and literature review as secondary data. The findings indicate that this phenomenon arises due to visitors’ low ethical literacy and a corridor environment that enables such behavior. Analysis using Hirschi’s Social Bond Theory reveals that weak attachment, commitment, involvement, and belief in religious values are the main causes. DKM regulations are considered ineffective due to lack of supervision and ethical education. The study recommends strengthening written regulations, providing religious value education, and fostering collaboration between DKM, students, and the community to maintain the mosque’s sanctity. The implementation of these measures is expected to improve supervision and raise collective awareness, ensuring Masjid Al-Furqon functions effectively as a comfortable and respectful place of worship for all.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which education plays a role in increasing social awareness amidst the dynamics of today's society. Social awareness—which includes the values of empathy, tolerance, and responsibility towards others—is a crucial element in creating a balanced and harmonious social life. Through a planned education system that focuses on societal values, individuals are expected to be able to build sensitivity to the social conditions around them. In its implementation, this study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach. Data were obtained through a review of various academic sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant articles, which discuss the relationship between education and the formation of social awareness. The analysis focuses on understanding the theory of character education, learning models, and educational policies that support the instillation of social values. The findings of this study indicate that education plays an important role in fostering social awareness. Key factors influencing this process include the integration of social values in learning, the role of educators as role models, and contextual learning methods. However, the implementation process still faces obstacles, especially in the education system that tends to prioritize intellectual aspects alone. Therefore, a comprehensive and balanced educational strategy is needed between academic development and social aspects.
