Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors influencing the academic achievement of mathematics education students at Nias University. The researcher employed the CHAID method to address this research problem. Data was collected through an online survey distributed to Mathematics Education students from the 2020 to 2023 cohorts who were in their second to eighth semesters. The analysis results indicate that both the type of residence and gender significantly influence students' academic achievement. The analysis revealed that students who chose to live in dormitories or with their parents significantly obtained higher Grade Point Averages (GPAs) compared to those who chose to live with guardians or in rented accommodations. The findings of this study can be utilized to design more effective intervention programs to enhance students' academic achievement, particularly for those who choose specific types of residence. A deeper understanding of the factors influencing academic achievement is expected to serve as a foundation for efforts to improve the quality of education at Nias University..

Abstract

Early studies show that: (1) students' mathematical abilities are in the category of lacking; and (2) The learning process still does not utilize technology in an integrated manner. Therefore, LKPD was developed using a liveworksheet to overcome these problems. The purpose of this research is to develop a valid, practical and effective LKPD to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills. This research uses the ADDIE (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation) development model. The instruments in this study are learning outcome tests, material expert validation questionnaires, linguist validation questionnaires, media expert validation questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires. Based on the results of the research, the LKPD developed has been tested and declared valid both in terms of material validity, language validity and media validity. Furthermore, the LKPD is also very practical based on the results of the teacher response questionnaire and the student response questionnaire. The LKPD developed is also effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills, as seen from the test scores of student learning outcomes. Thus, it can be concluded that LKPD using the liveworksheet developed has met the expectations or objectives of the research.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika dan faktor-faktor penyebab kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas VIII dengan jumlah 26 orang siswa Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika cukup kreatif dimana rata-rata nilai 51,3 dan jumlah siswa 26 orang. Faktor- faktor penyebab kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa Kemampuan berpikir kreatif berkategori kurang disebabkan karena Siswa tidak memiliki minat, kesungguhan dan rasa ingin tahu dalam belajar matematika sehingga mengalami kebingungan dalam menentukan rumus yang akan digunakan, Siswa tidak paham pelajaran ketika guru menjelaskan dan Siswa tidak berani bertanya kepada guru. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif berkategori cukup disebabkan karena Siswa tidak terbiasa berlatih mengerjakan dan menjawab soal-soal dan Siswa cenderung masih menghafalkan atau meniru apa yang diberikan oleh guru, sehingga hal tersebut membuat siswa belum tampak berpikir orisinil dalam menyelesaikan suatu masalah. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif berkategori kreatif disebabkan karena adanya usaha siswa dalam memecahkan suatu masalah, Siswa berlatih mengerjakan soal-soal matematika dan adanya rasa kepercayaan diri siswa. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif berkategori sangat kreatif disebabkan karena siswa memiliki minat dalam belajar, Siswa sering berlatih mengerjakan soal-soal khususnya matematika dan Siswa berani bertanya kepada guru tentang soal yang tidak jelas. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar penelitian selanjutnya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa melalui latihan soal-soal sehingga siswa terbiasa menjawab soal- soal. Kata kunci: Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif, Memecahkan Masalah Abstract This study aims to determine the creative thinking ability of 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan in solving math problems and the factors that cause students' creative thinking ability. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were class VIII with a total of 26 students. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the creative thinking ability of students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 4 Gunungsitoli Selatan in solving math problems is quite creative where the average score is 51.3 and the number of students is 26 people. The factors that cause students' creative thinking abilities The ability to think creatively is categorized as less because students do not have interest, seriousness and curiosity in learning mathematics so that they experience confusion in determining the formula to be used, students do not understand the lesson when the teacher explains and students do not dare to ask the teacher. The ability to think creatively in the sufficient category is because students are not accustomed to practicing working and answering problems and students tend to memorize or imitate what is given by the teacher, so that this makes students not appear to think original in solving a problem. Creative thinking ability in the creative category is due to students' efforts in solving a problem, students practicing working on math problems and students' self-confidence. Creative thinking ability in the very creative category is due to students having an interest in learning, students often practice working on problems, especially mathematics and students dare to ask the teacher about problems that are not clear. This study suggests that further research should improve students' creative thinking skills through practicing problems so that students are accustomed to answering questions. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul ajar berbasis etnomatematika untuk meningkatkan literasi matematis yang valid, praktis dan efektif untuk digunakan. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Negeri 4 Tuhemberua Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024 di kelas VII. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari angket validasi ahli bahasa, materi, dan desain; angket respon peserta didik; angket respon guru dan tes hasil belajar peserta didik dalam menggunakan produk yang dikembangkan. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, modul yang dibuat telah teruji sangat layak oleh validator ahli bahasa instrumen angket sebesar 98,66%, ahli bahasa pada modul sebesar 100%, ahli materi I sebesar 99,5%, ahli materi II sebesar 97,9%, ahli desain sebesar 94,2%. Modul yang dikembangkan sangat praktis digunakan dengan presentase 92,2%. Selanjutnya, modul juga efektif digunakan dengan presentase sebesar 87,10%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, modul berbasis etnomatematika tergolong efektif untuk meningkatkan literasi matematis siswa. Kata kunci: Modul, Model ADDIE, Etnomatematika, Literasi Matematis   Abstract This study aims to develop ethnomathematics-based teaching modules to improve mathematical literacy that are valid, practical and effective for use. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Tuhemberua in the 2023/2024 academic year in class VII. The research instrument consisted of a validation questionnaire for linguists, materials, and design; student response questionnaire; teacher response questionnaire and student learning outcomes test in using the developed product. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. Based on the results of the study, the module made has been tested very feasible by the validator linguist instrument questionnaire of 98.66%, language experts on the module by 100%, material experts I by 99.5%, material experts II by 97.9%, design experts by 94.2%. The developed module is very practical to use with a percentage of 92.2%. Furthermore, the module is also effective to use with a percentage of 87.10%. Based on the results of this study, the ethnomathematics-based module is classified as effective for improving students' mathematical literacy.  Keywords: Module, ADDIE Model, Ethnomathematics, Mathematical Literacy

Abstract

Student academic performance is a key indicator of successful study program management. Detection of academic performance can help study program managers monitor and take proactive action against students who are potentially experiencing difficulties. Machine learning can be a solution to this challenge by assisting in the classification and detection of students' academic abilities. Machine learning techniques have proven to be very effective in analyzing complex data and uncovering hidden patterns that are difficult to detect by humans. This research aims to explore the implementation of machine learning algorithms in detecting students' academic performance, especially in the Mathematics Education Study Program at Nias University. With the advancement of technology, machine learning has proven to be effective in classifying data and detecting hidden patterns that traditional methods cannot identify. This research uses the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to predict student academic performance based on a dataset collected from student primary data. The dataset includes factors such as GPA, attendance, participation, and use of learning resources. The analysis results show that the SVM model used has an accuracy of 77.59%, with a bias that is more inclined to the class of students with good academic performance. The results of this study are expected to make a practical contribution in the development of more effective learning methods and personalization of academic interventions in higher education.

Abstract

This research is based on the results of preliminary study observations that have been carried out by researchers at the Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara which is located on Jl. Tafaeri Menuju Desa Hambawa, Gunungsitoli City. Where it turns out that SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara has used the Independent Curriculum in the 2023/2024 academic year so that the purpose of this study is "to what extent is the implementation of their curriculum at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara". The type of research used is qualitative research in this study. information is collected through observation and interviews. Data reduction techniques, data visualization, and conclusion drawing were used to analyze the data. The independent variable of this study is the Implementation of the independent curriculum and the dependent variable is Mathematics learning at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara. The results of the study obtained based on observations and interviews at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara, namely the implementation of the independent curriculum at SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli has been implemented in the 2023-2024 academic year until now, then the school applies the Independent learning category. then the implementation of learning in the independent curriculum is in accordance with the implementation and evaluation planning. Then the obstacles encountered in schools such as lack of facilities and infrastructure, reduced internet facilities, reduced teacher readiness in teaching, especially in making CP, TP, ATP and also learning modules and efforts to overcome these obstacles are to carry out training for teachers then maximize the availability of facilities and infrastructure and also internet facilities. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini didasari oleh hasil observasi studi pendahuluan yang telah dilaksanakan oleh peneliti di Sekolah Mengengah Kejuran (SMK) Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara yang mana lokasinya di  Jl. Tafaeri Menuju Desa Hambawa, Kota Gunungsitoli. Dimana ternyata SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara sudah mengunakan Kurikulum merdeka pada tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024  sehingga adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah “ sejauh mana penerapan kurikulum mereka di SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara”. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dalam penelitian ini. informasi dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Teknik reduksi data, visualisasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan digunakan untuk menganalisis data.variabel bebas dari penelitian ini adalah Implementasi kurikulum merdeka dan sedangkan variable terikatnya adalah pembelajaran Matematika di SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara.Hasil dari penelitian yang diperoleh berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara di SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara yaitu implementasi kurikulum merdeka di SMK Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli telah diterapkan pada tahun ajaran 2023-2024 hingga sekarang kemudian sekolah menerapkan kategori Mandiri belajar. kemudian pelaksanaan pembelajaran di kurikulum merdeka sudah sesuai adanya perencanaan pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Kemudian kendala-kendala yang didapatkan di sekolah seperti kurangnya sarana dan prasarana, kurangi fasilitas internet, kurangi kesiapan guru dalam mengajar terlebih dalam pembuatan CP,TP,ATP dan juga modul belajar dan upaya untuk mengatasi kendala-kendala tersebut yaitu melaksanakan pelatihan-pelatihan kepada guru-guru kemudian memaksimalkan ketersediaan sarana dan prasarana dan juga fasilitas internet.

Abstract

One effective alternative for students to enhance their understanding of the concepts they are learning through systematic study activities is the use of Student Worksheets (LKPD). There are many mathematical skills that students need to develop, one of which is critical thinking. The ability to think critically in mathematics should be improved. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method. The R&D method is used to create a product and evaluate its effectiveness. In this study, the resulting product is the development of open-ended LKPD for the topic of Congruence and Similarity of Plane Figures for eighth-grade students. Based on the results from each validation test, the improvement from the first and second revisions by the material expert validator (Validator 1) showed a percentage increase of 18.59%, and the improvement in assessment by the Validator 1 was 12.1%. The language expert validator showed an improvement of 27.38% from the first to the second revision. The design expert validator showed an improvement of 33.47% from the first to the second revision. Furthermore, the practicality test results indicated that 89.87% of the open-ended LKPD is practical for use in mathematics instruction. Data from the learning achievement test revealed a student mastery percentage of 87%. This indicates that the development of open-ended LKPD for mathematics instruction on the topic of Congruence and Similarity of Plane Figures has a very high level of effectiveness.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi berdasarkan studi pendahuluan peneliti dimana pemilihan model pembelajaran yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional, minimnya perhatian pada gaya belajar siswa, serta kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran creative problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar. Kami menggunakan quasi eksperimen design dengan melibatkan siswa UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli sebanyak 50 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini berbentuk uraian kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan angket gaya belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran creative problem solving terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis ditinjau dari gaya belajar siswa. Berdasarkan angket gaya belajar awal dan akhir siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol aspek dominan gaya belajar siswa pada kedua kelas adalah visual.

Abstract

Hasil studi pendahuluan kami menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional dan rendahnya kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Matematis. Kami menggunakan desain experiment dengan Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sebanyak 60 siswa yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini berasal dari siswa kelas IX UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Gunungsitoli. Kami menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan literasi matematis siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis satu pihak, diperoleh thitung sebesar 8,734 dan ttabel sebesar 1,671 yang berarti bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Matematis Siswa
