Abstract

Abstract. Mathematical communication is the process of delivering ideas/thoughts mathematics both written and orally. Due to convey the idea of pure mathematics can not be delivered orally without writing, the oral mathematical communication in this research is the class presentation of mathematical communication is conveyed through speech or writing related to the speech. The purpose of this study was to determine the accuracy of mathematical communication profile student teachers in solving mathematical problems in terms of gender differences and differences in mathematical ability. Based on the analysis of data it can be concluded in oral mathematical communication, male students convey information more accurate than female students. Keyword: The accuracy of mathematical communication, student teachers

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peranan pendidikan multikultural untuk mengatasi rasisme dalam matematika. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode studi literatur terhadap konsep yang berkaitan dengan penelitian. Analisis yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menelusuri berbagai sumber seperti buku dan jurnal, kemudian disimpulkan dalam uraian makna yang dapat dipahami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam mengatasi rasisme yang ada dalam matematika, diperlukan suatu konsep pendidikan yang dapat menerima dan merangkul segala macam bentuk perbedaan agar setiap orang dapat memperoleh kesempatan yang sama dalam pendidikan. Salah satunya ialah melalui konsep pendidikan multikultural yang merupakan sebuah konsep, gerakan reformasi pendidikan, dan jalan untuk mengubah struktur institusi pendidikan sehingga murid laki-laki dan murid perempuan, murid berkebutuhan khusus, dan murid yang berasal dari beragam macam ras, etnis, dan budaya mendapatkan kesetaraan dalam memperoleh prestasi akademis di sekolah. Dalam pembelajaran matematika, guru wajib memberikan perlakuan yang sama dan tidak bersikap rasis terhadap setiap siswa dari berbagai latar belakang yang berbeda. Dengan perbedaan dan keanekaragaman yang dimiliki Indonesia, guru dapat memanfaatkan hal tersebut ke dalam pembelajaran matematika sehingga ke depannya siswa memiliki rasa cinta dan hormat terhadap segala bentuk perbedaan dan keanekaragaman yang ada di Indonesia.

Abstract

Philosophy of education is essentially the application of philosophical ways of thinking into the realm of education. Philosophy helps the process of implementing mathematics education. Philosophy directs and guides all processes that take place in mathematics education, so that education is carried out according to the right path and direction. The purpose of this study is to examine in depth how the philosophy of mathematics education perspective as a field of knowledge. The research method in this study used the literature study method. Data collection was carried out by collecting data from the library, from research journals and books and then reading, recording and processing these sources as research data. Philosophy of mathematics education as a field of knowledge provides a clear basis and direction for mathematics to become a means of thinking in discovering and developing various new knowledge and will then communicate the results of this knowledge so that it becomes useful and usable. Based on the study of ontology and epistemology, in carrying out mathematics education activities as a field of knowledge it is necessary to apply a philosophy of mathematics which involves the use of logic and the involvement of students in constructing their knowledge in solving existing phenomena or problems. Based on the axiological study, mathematics education as a field of knowledge will have value if students in the implementation of mathematics education are organized by involving the connections of mathematics with other sciences and connections with previously acquired knowledge.

Abstract

This research investigates the multifaceted dynamics surrounding the utilization of science learning media in Grade VI classrooms, focusing on their availability, patterns of usage, and subsequent impact on academic outcomes. By employing a quantitative descriptive research design, data were gathered through surveys, questionnaires, and interviews with science teachers. The study, innovative in its application of the RASCH Model, revealed a positive correlation between the use of science kits and students' UN Science scores. Noteworthy findings include the prevalence of science kits, the absence of science practicum laboratories, and the underutilization of available learning media. Moderating factors such as teacher training, urban-rural distinctions, gender-based differences, and teacher experience were also identified. While contributing valuable insights, the study emphasizes the need for future research to address gaps, particularly the characteristics of effective science kits and the perspectives of various stakeholders. This research serves as a foundation for enhancing science education methodologies and creating more effective learning environments in elementary schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide information about the role of mathematics in social society. The method of writing this article uses literature study by taking information sources from various data sources such as books, journals, and the internet. The author hopes that this article will add to the reader's insight about mathematics which has urgency with the development of social life, namely how mathematics is used to solve everyday human problems, and the relationship of mathematics to the progress of the times. In the economic development of society, mathematics provides such a large contribution, mathematics as a means of interacting socially. Both from buying and selling activities, banking, lending and borrowing, and other activities. Judging from the agricultural aspect, it turns out that farmers' activities are related to mathematics, namely measuring and calculating. From the aspect of education, mathematics has a consistent character in the system and adheres to principles. This means that there is no contradiction in mathematics in the system. Consistency is meant in terms of meaning and truth value. It is expected that students after studying mathematics can make students honest, consistent, and responsible characters.

Abstract

Kemampuan kolaborasi sangat penting untuk dikembangkan agar mahasiswa dapat bekerjasama dalam perbedaan kelompok sebagai bekal untuk menghadapi era globalisasi abad ke-21. Sebagai calon guru abad 21 mahasiswa perlu mengembangkan kemampuan kolaborasi mereka agar dapat bekerja secara profesional. Salah satu metode pembelajaran,yang memungkinkan mahasiswa melakukan aktivitas kolaborasi yang dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah case method  sebab pemecahan kasus dilakukan dengan berpikir kritis secara ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh implementasi Case Method berbasis pembelajaran proyek kolaboratif terhadap kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa dan seberapa besar pengaruh tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperiment dengan sampel penelitian mahasiswa semester 6 yang mengambil mata kuliah struktur sebanyak 34 mahasiswa di Program Studi Pendidikan matematika. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan angket kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa yang berjumlah 30 butir pernyataan dengan skala likert 1 sampai 4. Pemberian angket pada mahasiswa sebanyak dua kali yaitu pada saat sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran menggunakan case method. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu statistic paired sample t test Sig. (2-talled) < 0,05. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh implementasi case method berbasis proyek kolaboratif terhadap kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa dengan efek size kriteria sedang. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut Case Method baik digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis setelah diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 5 SMA Negeri 9 Medan. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan pedoman wawancara. Kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam proses pembelajaran aktif diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri, karena dalam model tersebut didalamnya erat hubungannya  dengan berpikir kritis matematis dapat dilihat dari sintaksnya yang mampu menopang kemampuan tersebut. Sehingga dari hasil penelitian diperoleh data bahwa: siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis kategori sangat tinggi diperoleh sebanyak 3 orang siswa (9%), kategori tinggi diperoleh sebanyak 9 orang siswa (27%), kategori sedang diperoleh sebanyak 12 orang siswa (36%), kategori rendah diperoleh sebanyak 6 orang siswa (18%) dan kategori sangat rendah diperoleh   3 orang siswa (9%) dari total keseluruhan 33 siswa. Perolehan perindikator berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang mampu mengerjakan kemampuan interpretasi terdapat 21 siswa (63,6%), kemampuan analisis terdapat 14 siswa (42,4%), kemampuan evaluasi terdapat 10 siswa (30,3%), dan kemampuan inferensi terdapat 7 siswa (21,2%). Kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa yaitu berkesinambungan dengan ketidakmampuan siswa dalam mengerjakan setiap aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam mengerjakan soal yang diberikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) berbantuan Geogebra dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas serta mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas tahun ajaran 2022/2023 berjumlah 36 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari tes dan lembar observasi kegiatan guru. Analisis data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together berbantuan Geogebra mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II dengan nilai rata-rata siklus I adalah 72,91 (cukup), dan siklus II adalah 91,66 (sangat baik). Rata-rata kemampuan penalaran matematis awal siswa, siklus I, dan siklus II masing-masing adalah 51,16 (cukup) dengan PKK 25%, 65,97 (baik) dengan PKK 47,22%, serta 82,18 (sangat baik) dengan PKK 86,11%. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas meningkat setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together berbantuan Geogebra.

Abstract

Multicultural learning is a strategy for creating a learning environment and designing a learning experience that integrates culture as part of the learning process. In multicultural learning, culture becomes a method for students to transform the results of their observations into creative forms and principles of nature so that the role of students is not merely to imitate or receive information, but to act as a creation of meaning and understanding. Subjects such as Citizenship Education, Social Sciences, Natural Science, Cultural Arts and Skills are considered to contribute to multicultural learning, but mathematics subjects can also contribute. The research aimed to find out how the use of multicultural learning in mathematical learning, on flat building materials, affected students' racism and social attitudes. This is a qualitative descriptive study that uses the interview method to gather data. The results will be qualitatively analyzed. Interviews were conducted to find out how multiculturalism is integrated into learning, how knowledge construction is built through cultural influences, how prejudice reduction occurs, how equality pedagogy is implemented, how the empowerment of school culture occurs in the learning process, and how it impacts in tackling racism and social attitudes of students after using such learning.
