Abstract

Post-stroke rehabilitation often involves improving muscle strength and motor function to enhance the quality of life for stroke survivors. Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) has emerged as an effective therapy in this context, particularly in enhancing muscle strength and upper limb function. PNF techniques use specific patterns of movement to activate proprioceptors and improve muscle coordination, which may aid in recovery for stroke patients. Despite its potential, limited research has evaluated its impact on muscle strength improvement, making this study significant.Research Objective: The primary aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) in improving muscle strength in post-stroke patients, with a focus on the upper limbs. The research was conducted to evaluate the pre-test and post-test muscle strength scores, and to analyze the impact of PNF on muscle strength recovery.Research Methods: This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test. A sample of 34 post-stroke patients was selected using purposive sampling from the Merdeka Health Center and 1 Ulu Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The intervention consisted of PNF exercises conducted three times a week for three months. Muscle strength was measured using a hand dynamometer both before and after the intervention. Statistical analysis using Cohen’s d and paired t-tests was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Results: The results revealed a significant improvement in muscle strength after PNF intervention. The mean muscle strength score increased from 2.50 ± 0.570 (pre-test) to 3.64 ± 0.570 (post-test), with a difference of 1.14 ± 0.570. Cohen’s d coefficient of 2 indicated a large effect size, confirming substantial improvement. The paired t-test yielded a p-value of 0.001, demonstrating that the changes were statistically significant. Conclusion: Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) significantly improves muscle strength in post-stroke patients, particularly in the upper limbs.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a therapy given to replace kidney function. This therapy has various physical and psychological impacts on the sufferers. This study aims to analyze stress conditions with fatigue in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Analytic observation research design with a cross-sectional approach. Population of chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. The sample was 54 patients, with a non-random sampling technique, with inclusion criteria, namely routine hemodialysis 2 times/week, full consciousness, communication well, and not experiencing complications during dialysis. Analysis using the Independent T-test and Pearson Correlation Test. The instruments used were the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale questionnaire and the fatigue questionnaire. The analysis results obtained the youngest age (17 people), more women than men, most of them have higher education and most of them undergo hemodialysis for more than 11 months. The average patient undergoing hemodialysis experienced mild stress and was in a state of severe fatigue. There was a significant relationship between stress and fatigue (p-value 0.048), with a prediction model that increasing one stress score will increase the fatigue score by 0.237. Therefore, psychological aspects must be an important concern in providing nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis in the hemodialysis unit.

Abstract

The community service activities that have been performed were aimed at increasing the community knowledge, especially cadres and patients with diabetes mellitus, in diabetic foot care. Increasing trends of diabetes cases will also increase the incidence of foot ulcers. Therefore, it is important for cadres and community members to understand diabetic foot care. This community service activity consists of several stages; preliminary survey, implementation of activities, and evaluation. This activity involved health workers at the Puskesmas, five cadres, and 21 people with diabetes. Participants were very enthusiastic in answering and asking questions in educational activities. The patient also gets foot and wound care during this activity. This activity needs to be conducted continuously to prevent further complications from diabetes.

Abstract

Background: Head injury is a traumatic disorder of brain function accompanied or without interstitial bleeding in the brain substance without being followed by a break in brain continuity, as a result of head injury the patient can experience physical and psychological changes. The nursing problem that arises is the risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion. Objective: The purpose of this case study is to obtain an overview of the implementation of management of increased intracranial pressure in patients with moderate head injury with the problem of the risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion. Method: The writing design uses a descriptive method in the form of a case study. nursing care approach consisting of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and nursing documentation. The research subjects consisted of 4 patients at the Hospital with. Results: The implementation of management of increased intracranial pressure in head injury patients was carried out with observation, therapeutic, educational and collaborative actions. Evaluation of these actions showed good results, by describing the patient in a stable condition. Conclusion Actions in ICT Improvement Management are expected to pay attention to teamwork and collaboration actions

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus sufferers around the world are increasing every year so this requires special attention from the public. The results of the registration of cadres stated that there were still many DM sufferers who did not carry out routine control while the existing cadres had not received training in managing DM, especially Physical Exercise. Community service activities have been carried out in three stages, namely preparation, training and assistance for cadres. The target of posbindu cadres in the working area of Puskesmas 1 Ulu and Puskesmas Merdeka were 29 people. The results of the activities included the availability of training media, increased cadre knowledge and the implementation of home visits. The importance of this activity requires continuous training or refresher of cadres so that the quality of life for diabetics increases.
