Abstract

Cultivation is an activity that is an important sector in the community's economy. One of the activities that is popular with the community is fish farming. To increase fish cultivation, a water quality monitoring system is needed which aims to monitor temperature, pH, oxygen levels, and anomia. To achieve an efficient water quality cultivation system, IoT-based technology is needed. The location of this KKN is located in Tapen village, Kudu sub-district, Jombang regency. The method used in this activity is a question-and-answer method conducted with fish farmers. This activity aims to produce a hydropure meter tool that can help fish farmers monitor water conditions more efficiently and detect changes in water quality quickly. The resulting tool was tested in catfish ponds chosen by fish farmers in Tapen Village and data was obtained, namely pond 1 tds meter 269, temperature 28.19°C, ec 0.072; pool 2 tds quality 430, ec 1.18, temperature 28.63°C; pool 3 tds quality 307, ec 0.83 and temperature 29.75°C. The results of the trials above that have been carried out, show that the water quality and temperature of the catfish pond are good for fish cultivation.

Abstract

Abstract: The scope of this study is limited to the use of Instagram integrated with Canva for teaching Arabic writing skills to third-semester students, compared to traditional methods. Data were collected through pretest-posttest, observation, and documentation, focusing on the development of paragraph writing skills and creativity, without involving other language skills or alternative platforms. This study employed an experimental method with a pre-test post-test control group design. The sample consisted of 60 third-semester students in the Arabic Language Education Department at Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University, Tulungagung. Data were collected through tests, direct observation, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests, as well as t-tests and N-Gain to measure the effectiveness and improvement of writing skills. The process of teaching writing skills using Instagram and Canva was conducted through pre-learning, during-learning, and post-learning stages. Data analysis showed a significant paired-sample t-test (p < 0.05), and the N-Gain calculation indicated high effectiveness in the experimental group (0.71), confirming that the use of Instagram and Canva is effective in improving Arabic paragraph writing skills. This study is limited to the use of Instagram and Canva for teaching Arabic writing skills to third-semester students in the Arabic Education Department at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. It focuses on developing paragraph writing skills and creativity, so future researchers can expand the materials to other language skills and platforms.

Abstract

Purpose -This study explores the intersection between pragmatics and non-verbal communication in Islamic educational contexts by analyzing santri gestures and their alignment with the teachings of the kiai as depicted in the Indonesian film Sang Kiai. The objective of this research is to identify types of gestures used by santri and interpret their meaning within the socio-religious framework of pesantren tradition. Methods - Using a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic-semiotic approach, the study analyzes selected scenes and gestures from the film and contextualizes them through ethnographic literature on pesantren culture and Islamic education. Findings – The findings reveal that santri gestures such as bowing, walking behind the kiai, avoiding direct eye contact, and sitting humbly are pragmatic expressions of submission, reverence, and learning ethics, deeply rooted in Islamic tradition and local pedagogical norms. These gestures function as non-verbal reinforcement of verbal teachings and play a crucial role in shaping the character of santri. Research implications / limitations -This research contributes to the underexplored area of non-verbal language in Islamic educational settings and suggests that gestures in pesantren are an embodied form of religious discipline and moral education. Originality -Still, the study offers a valuable lens for educators, linguists, and cultural researchers interested in the pragmatics of Islamic pedagogy and the role of body language in religious instruction.
