Abstract

Adolescents were excessively exposed to social media use especially during the covid-19 pandemic period. Social media helped individuals of the age group to express emotions through social media, ranging from writing statuses, commenting, to engaging in mutual derogatory conversations. Therefore, teenagers need to acquire information and be trained in displaying polite behavior on social media. This aligns with the spiral effect theory, which explains that when someone experiences impoliteness from others, they tend to reciprocate with impoliteness towards others as well. This impolite behavior would be an antecedent of low happiness in the millennial generation. This community service aims to provide adolescents with skills for polite behaviour on social media. The method used is online psychoeducation, with data analysis using paired-sample t-tests to measure changes before and after the education is given. The participants consist of 175 teenagers from Indonesia and Malaysia. The results of the community service indicate that psychoeducation enhances effective happiness and can reduce the culture of impoliteness among adolescents on social media. As a result, adoloscents can implement the knowledge and skills provided to become wiser in using social media.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. During M. tuberculosis infection, there is a decrease in the partial pressure of oxygen in the granuloma microenvironment, which causes the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) to become stable. HIF functions as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes crucial for metabolic adaptation in hypoxic conditions. Recent research suggests that HIF plays a vital role in infectious and inflammatory conditions. Several studies have demonstrated that HIF signaling can enhance macrophages antimicrobial activity and bactericidal effect against M. tuberculosis, such as increasing macrophage autophagy, enhancing the effects of rifampicin, inhibiting p38 MAPK signaling, enhancing the regulation of effector antimicrobial pathways mediated by human β defensin 2 (hBD2) and vitamin D receptor (VDR), redirecting energy metabolism to glycolysis, and producing various cytokines. All these responses ultimately result in the inhibition of intracellular M. tuberculosis growth. HIF has therapeutic implications, potentially being a new candidate for host-directed therapy as a complement to existing antituberculosis drugs. Understanding the role of HIF in macrophages during M. tuberculosis infection and comprehending the host-pathogen relationship with M. tuberculosis is advantageous for developing future therapies. Keywords: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, macrophages, hypoxia-inducible factor

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the Big Five Personality Types and Family Social Support on Work-Life Balance in Single Working Mothers. The big five personality type scale, family social support and work-life balance were used to obtain data from 100 working single mothers aged 20-65 years with different work backgrounds and divorce status. Purposive sampling technique was used as a sampling method and then the research results were processed using linear regression analysis. The research results show that the big five personality type variables and family social support have varying influences on work-life balance in working single mothers. The extraversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness personality types were found to have no influence on work-life balance in working single mothers, while the emotional stability and intellect personality types and family social support had a positive influence on work-life balance in working single mothers. The contribution of the emotional stability personality type to work-life balance is 22.5%, the intellect personality type to work-life balance is 10.8% and family social support to work-life balance is 26%. Multiple regression analysis is also carried out as an additional test and has a significance value that is not different from simple regression analysis. It is hoped that the results of these findings can be a reference for personnel staff in determining policies for single mother employees as well as understanding the important personality types for single mothers who work in achieving work-life balance so that productivity and mental well-being are well maintained.

Abstract

The concept of social entrepreneurship has gained popularity in Indonesia. However, there has been a lack of development in measuring individuals' readiness or interest in social entrepreneurship within the Indonesian context. Based on a literature review, there are no existing studies that have translated and adapted instruments to measure the antecedents of social entrepreneurship for students. One such instrument, the Social Entrepreneurial Antecedents Scale (SEAS), was originally developed to assess social entrepreneurial intentions. This study aims to adapt the scale, especially for students in tertiary institutions for 131 students. Following Beaton's theoretical framework, the research was conducted in six stages: translation, synthesis, back translation, expert committee review, pre-testing, and assessment. The construct validity of the adapted scale was analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis using JAMOVI, focusing on four aspects of social entrepreneurship: empathy, moral obligation, self-efficacy, and social support. The adapted scale, which consists of 14 items, has a reliability coefficient of 0.835. Item discrimination for these 14 items ranged from 0.207 to 0.684. Based on the adaptation process results, this sociopreneurship scale is valid for measuring social entrepreneurial intentions and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions aimed at fostering such intentions.
