Abstract

This paper aims to analyze leadership strategies in improving lecturer performance at Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIS), particularly at STAI Al-Hikmah Tebing Tinggi and STIT Batubara. The research focuses on lecturer performance, coordination patterns between PTKIS leaders and study programs, and leadership strategies to improve the implementation of the three pillars of higher education. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a multisite design in two research locations. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing, with validity testing through source and method triangulation. The results of the study show that the performance of lecturers at both institutions has been carried out in a planned and sustainable manner through the synergy of higher education leadership with study programs. Leadership coordination serves as a strategic mechanism in integrating academic policies with the implementation of the three pillars of higher education through planning, monitoring, evaluation, and professional development. Leadership strategies include the development of pedagogical competencies, strengthening a culture of research and scientific publication, science-based community service, creating a conducive academic environment, and a sustainable reward system. The discussion shows that collaborative leadership can improve the professionalism, motivation, and productivity of lecturers. However, challenges such as limited facilities, administrative burdens, and variations in lecturer competencies still need to be addressed, requiring visionary leadership and continuous guidance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze leadership management strategies in improving lecturer performance at Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions, focusing on STAI Al-Hikmah Tebing Tinggi and STIT Batubara. The study examines lecturer performance conditions, coordination patterns between institutional leaders and study program administrators, and leadership strategies in strengthening the implementation of the Tri Dharma of higher education. A qualitative multisite design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using an interactive approach involving data reduction, data display, verification, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that lecturer performance improvement is achieved through collaborative academic leadership, effective coordination, continuous professional development, and systematic monitoring and evaluation. Leadership strategies include strengthening pedagogical competence, promoting research and publication productivity, enhancing community engagement, creating a supportive academic environment, and implementing sustainable reward mechanisms. The study concludes that collaborative and participatory leadership contributes significantly to strengthening lecturer professionalism, motivation, and academic productivity in Private Islamic Higher Education Institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the quality of Tri Dharma of Higher Education implementation and the role of lecturer professional development in improving lecturer performance at two private Islamic higher education institutions: Institut Syekh Abdul Halim Hasan Binjai and Institut Jamiyah Mahmudiyah Langkat. A qualitative approach with a multi-site study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with institutional leaders, lecturers, and LP2M administrators, classroom and academic activity observations, and document analysis, including lesson plans, lecturer performance reports, research publications, and community service records. The findings indicate that the implementation of Tri Dharma in the areas of teaching, research, and community service has been carried out systematically and in alignment with national higher education regulations. Lecturer professional development programs—such as training, workshops, research mentoring, and performance evaluation systems—significantly contribute to enhancing teaching quality, research productivity, and community engagement. Despite institutional differences in implementation strategies, both institutions demonstrate that strong institutional commitment and lecturers’ intrinsic motivation are critical determinants of sustainable Tri Dharma performance. This study highlights the strategic importance of lecturer professional development in strengthening academic quality and institutional competitiveness.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the development of Islamic Religious Education with an environmental perspective that is appropriate, practical and effective for use as teaching material. The research method used is development research with the 4-D (Define, Design, Develop dan Dessimination). The subjects in this research were class IX students at SMPS Generasi Bangsa Medan. Data collection instruments are observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests and documentation. The results of the research show: (1) the development of teaching materials is first carried out by performance analysis and needs analysis, then carrying out the design stage, (2) the feasibility of teaching materials is carried out by validation with an average score the overall percentage is 78.7%, valid category, (3) the practicality of the module obtained an overall average percentage score of 85.2%, very practical category, and (4) the effectiveness of teaching materials in improving student learning outcomes obtained a normalized gain score ( N-Gain) 0.55, which is in the effective category.
