Abstract

Me time holds significance for personal enjoyment and relaxation, yet its exploration, particularly among Indonesian mothers, is limited. This qualitative study interviewed three full-time working mothers (aged 28, 30 and 36) to understand their perceptions in me time allocation before marriage, after marriage, and after having children. Thematic analysis identified six major themes: a) the importance of me time, b) factors hindering it, c) diverse interpretations, d) activities pursued, e) repercussions of inadequate me time, and f) coping strategies employed. This study underscores the significance of dedicating me time as a means to alleviate the stress experienced in day-to-day life. Maternal individuals exhibit an adaptive inclination to tailor their approach to personal time management in light of the demands imposed by motherhood. This research effectively accentuates the necessity of prioritizing me time to enhance holistic well-being and fortitude when confronted with maternal responsibilities.

Abstract

Adolescents spend a lot of time at school because schools are centers of activity for them. Thus, it is normal for students to feel supported, comfortable, and connected to all components of the school. These feelings can make students think of themselves as part of their school or known as school belongings. This research was conducted to explore what factors can affect school belonging and to find the factors that have the most meaningful influence on school belonging for high school students in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative approach with a generic qualitative approach, and consisted of five participants who were 10th and 11th grade high school students attending schools in Bandung. Data analysis uses reflexive thematic analysis. The results of the study revealed that four themes could affect school belonging for students at school, including relationships with school members, adequate learning facilities and infrastructure, students' participation in extracurricular activities, and the match between students' interests and their school majors. On the other hand, it was found that peers were a factor that consistently influenced students' school belongings because it is consistently mentioned by every subject in this study.

Abstract

Background: Modern adults frequently integrate movie watching into their daily routines. While traditionally regarded as entertainment, movies have also been recognized as valuable learning and personal growth tools. While previous research has demonstrated the effectiveness of movies as educational tools in academic settings, there is a notable scarcity of studies focusing on their application among adults in Indonesia. Purpose: This study aimed to discover the utilization of movies as a learning tool for adults. We explored all types of lessons adults learn after they watch movies and examined how movies reflect their problems. Methods: A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving seven participants selected through snowball sampling. Data collection was conducted using an online questionnaire with open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was applied to analyze the data. Results: Three prominent themes emerged from the data processing: (1) learning about various relationships, (2) the movie as a mirror of reality, and (3) key elements of a memorable movie for adults. The emerging themes aid us in gaining a deeper understanding of how adults perceive and derive meaning from the movies they watch. Conclusion: The findings indicated that movies offer adults meaningful insights. Moreover, watching movies contributed to their understanding of intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. Additionally, movies serve as a stimulus for self-reflection. Therefore, these findings have implications for instructional designers who leverage movies as inspirational and educational tools. Implications: This study highlights that movies are more than just entertainment—they can inspire adults, specifically those aged 18-40. The insights gained from this research can be applied to adult learning experiences, particularly those incorporating movies as valuable educational tools.

Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study aimed to comprehend the perception of elementary school children in Bandung about bullying, focusing on the understanding of the phenomenon and the use of social support from teachers, parents, and peers. In order to achieve this aim, semi-structured interviews were carried out with four children aged between 12 to13 years, from different elementary schools in Bandung. The data obtained from the conducted interview were subsequently transcribed and analyzed using a thematic analysis framework. The analysis results showed children comprehended bullying differently in a manner that did not entirely harmonize with the conventional definition. It was also important to acknowledge that children viewed emotional support as a more important factor compared to direct problem-solving. The obtained results were extensively discussed to explore implications for further analysis concerning the interplay between bullying and the association with social support.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the structural validity of the Dark Triad Dirty Dozen (DTDD) within the Indonesian cultural context. At the preliminary stage, content validity and response process were assessed as part of a systematic translation verification to ensure item clarity and conceptual relevance. Even though satisfactory performance was reported, items 3 and 10 required further cultural refinement. Structural models were also tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Exploratory Structural Equation Modelling (ESEM). The results showed that the three-factor structures of Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy were supported as the most conceptually sound and statistically stable option. The bifactor solution reported interpretive limitations, such as low item loadings even though alternative models suggested acceptable fit. Subsequently, ESEM captured subtle cross-loadings, stating the psychological overlap between traits. These results supported the suitability of DTDD and offered an enhanced understanding of the structural complexity of dark traits to strengthen the relevance of cross-cultural personality assessment.

Abstract

Litter is one of the most important environmental problems to be addressed. Because the problem is very complex, the efforts made must be comprehensive and involve many parties. Several researchers stated that public attitudes towards the phenomenon of littering itself are important to study, because it can be one of the factors that determine whether someone will litter or not. By following the guidelines of the International Test Commission, this study aims to translate and adapt into Indonesian the "littering attitude scale" so that it can be used in Indonesia. The results of this study present the process of obtaining two pieces of validity evidence, namely evidence based on test content that obtained from expert assessments, and validity evidence based on response process that explored through how some participants understand the meaning of the scale elements. Specifically, the two pieces of validity evidence obtained can be the initial basis for this scale to be tested on a larger sample. In general, this study is expected to be a guide for the initial process of adaptation or development of a psychological scale.
