Abstract

Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman anak-anak tentang seni dan budaya tari dalam rangka hari kemerdekaan 17 Agustus. Partisipan dalam pelatihan ini adalah para siswa kelas 5 dan 6 SD Negeri 6 Passeno. Metode yang diterapkan dalam kegiatan ini melibatkan serangkaian langkah seperti survei, diskusi, demonstrasi, pengenalan musik iringan, praktik, pertunjukan, dan evaluasi. Pelatihan ini terdiri dari tiga tahap utama, yaitu: 1) persiapan sebelum pelatihan dimulai, 2) pelaksanaan pelatihan, dan 3) penutupan pelatihan. Selama pelatihan berlangsung, semua peserta menunjukkan semangat tinggi dan aktif mengikuti setiap rangkaian pelatihan. Ini tercermin dari kehadiran yang konsisten dari awal hingga akhir setiap sesi pelatihan. Selain itu, peserta pelatihan juga memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap kegiatan ini. Mereka terlihat senang dan selalu datang lebih awal sebelum pelatihan dimulai. Mereka menggunakan waktu luang mereka untuk berdiskusi dengan teman-teman mereka tentang gerakan-gerakan tari dan bahkan melakukan demonstrasi gerakan-gerakan yang telah mereka pelajari pada pertemuan sebelumnya. Hasil dari kegiatan ini mencerminkan semangat dan keterlibatan peserta dalam mengikuti pelatihan, serta tanggapan positif mereka pelatihan tari kreasi ini. Mereka juga menunjukkan kreativitas dengan menampilkan persembahan tari kreasi tersebut di atas panggung.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the teacher's perception of the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) method in teaching English. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Panca Rijang. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The participants are 3 English teachers who teach grades 1, 2, and 3 at SMP Negeri 4 Panca Rijang. The instruments of this research are interviews and questionnaires. The results showed 3 positive perceptions and 3 negative perceptions. As for 3 of the negative perception. Based on the data obtained, the researchers concluded that the results of interviews and questionnaires, positive perceptions where all teachers said that Contextual Teaching and Learning learning was very helpful for teachers in delivering learning material and helping students  more easily understand the material presented in the learning process.

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengetahui keadaan fisik dan nonfisik sekolah; untuk mengenali sikap dan pola tingkah laku siswa; untuk mendalami pembelajaran yang terjadi di sekolah; untuk memahami kebiasaan yang terjadi dalam kultur sekolah; dan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan kegiatan kokurikuler dan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dimulai pada tanggal 1 September sampai 29 September 2023  di Pesantern Al Iman Uluale. Masalah yang diangkat dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah melakukan pendataan sekolah tentang keadaan fisik dan non fisik, sikap siswa, proses pembelajarn, kultur sekolah dan kegiatan ekstrakurikuler. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian yaitu observasi, wawancara, diskusi, dan dokumentasi kegiatan. Kegiatan evaluasi dilakukan dengan mengkaji relevansi, efisiensi, efektivitas dan dampak suatu kegiatan dengan tujuan yang ingin dicapai. Monitoring dan evaluasi dimulai dari sosialisasi kegiatan pendampingan, perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan keberlanjutan terhadap perencanaan program. Kesimpulan dalam kegiatan ini memberikan informasi terbaru kepada pihak sekolah sehingga menjadi bahan evaluasi diri untuk peningkatan kavasitas dan sumber daya pada pesantren Al Iman Uluale.  Kata Kunci: Program PLP, kualitas sekolah

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the pedagogical practices and challenges faced by teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Panca Rijang during the transition from face-to-face learning to online learning. This study employs a qualitative research methodology to explore the strategies, difficulties, and challenges encountered by teachers in both face-to-face and online learning environments at SMP Negeri 3 Panca Rijang. Based on the interviews conducted with the teachers, it is evident that they face numerous challenges in adapting to and implementing online learning as well as maintaining traditional face-to-face teaching methods. Teachers are compelled to adapt swiftly and find rapid solutions to these challenges. The primary issues identified in online learning include unstable internet connections and the lack of availability of devices for all students. Solutions implemented include flexible timing for assignments, using social media groups to distribute learning materials, and providing alternative means for students to access learning, such as visiting the teacher's house or studying with nearby friends. A significant challenge remains ensuring that students understand the material thoroughly, as online classes make it difficult to monitor student engagement and participation. To address this, teachers have resorted to calling on students by name to maintain focus and attention during lessons.

Abstract

This research uses descriptive qualitative method as the research methodology. This research is conducted to Identify EFL students‘ views on the use of YouTube videos in learning and Assess the extent to which the use of YouTube videos affects EFL students’ communicative competence.The purpose of this study is to find out how students view the use of YouTube videos to improve communicative competence, which this study will focus on UMS Rappang (University of Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang) students majoring in English language education semester four in the year 2024, 38 students’ as the main population who will be the subject of research.The findings from this study show that it can be concluded that YouTube is very impactful in improving students' communicative competence. The respondents of this study use YouTube mainly for English language learning, and they prefer the video platform that is YouTube application because of its visual and auditory elements, accessibility, and convenience as well as its long duration and can also be accessed anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of developing a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model to enhance students' critical and creative skills in learning procedural texts at SMPN 7 Satap Maiwa. The goal was to create a dynamic, engaging, and effective learning environment using the PjBL model to improve students' skills, particularly in English learning. This research employed quantitative methods to provide empirical evidence on the effectiveness of the PjBL model in enhancing students' critical and creative thinking abilities in procedural text learning. The development of PjBL in education has seen significant progress, especially in secondary English language teaching. This study specifically aimed to assess the application of the PjBL model in teaching procedural texts, with a focus on creating posters using the Canva application by analyzing a tourist spot. The study involved 15 students in the experimental group and 15 students in the control group. The results showed a significant improvement in the students' scores from pre-test to post-test in the experimental group. The average pre-test score for the experimental group was 68.66, while the post-test mean score increased to 86.33. In comparison, the control group’s pre-test and post-test scores were 57.66 and 82.66, respectively. Statistical analysis revealed that the p-value was smaller than the α level (0.001 < 0.05), leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1, indicating that the use of PjBL in learning procedural texts had a positive impact. In conclusion, this study suggests that integrating the PjBL model can effectively enhance students' critical and creative skills, contributing to improved overall learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study investigates the models of English learning implemented for students with disabilities at SLB Negeri 1 Sidrap and evaluates how these models influence students' motivation to learn English. Employing a qualitative research design, data were gathered through observations, interviews, and document analysis. The results reveal that students show a strong preference for video-based and interactive learning activities. Teachers adopt diverse instructional strategies, including multisensory learning, game-based learning, and collaborative approaches, all tailored to meet students' individual needs. Despite these efforts, challenges persist, particularly in mastering tenses and maintaining focus during lessons. To overcome these obstacles, teachers offer personalized support, re-explain complex concepts, and assist slow writers by dictating materials. The findings highlight the crucial role of adaptive teaching strategies in enhancing the English learning experience for students with disabilities in special education settings.

Abstract

Students often struggle to distinguish words that look or sound similar but have different meanings. They also face challenges in using these words appropriately, leading to errors in comprehension and language use. This study aims to assess students' ability to differentiate the meanings of homonyms, homophones, and homographs, as well as to identify their level of accuracy and the difficulties they encounter in understanding and using these words in context. Using a qualitative approach, the research was conducted through comprehension tests, interviews, and observations of students. The findings indicate that while students have a basic understanding of these concepts, they still struggle to interpret meanings based on context, particularly with words that share similar pronunciation or identical spelling but have different meanings. Common errors were most frequently related to homophones, suggesting that students' listening and writing skills influence their ability to distinguish these words accurately. Additionally, confidence played a role in students’ responses, as those with higher confidence tended to provide clearer and more accurate answers. Based on these findings, this study recommends strengthening teaching methods that emphasize contextual understanding, improving listening and writing skills, and fostering a more supportive learning environment to help students better differentiate word meanings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Mappatabe' culture on education in the Bugis region, with a particular focus on Lasiwala Village, Sidrap District, South Sulawesi. Mappatabe' is a local tradition that reflects the values of respect, politeness, and morality passed down from generation to generation in Bugis society. This study used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation and document analysis to collect data from various parties, including religious leaders, educators, traditional leaders and the younger generation. The results showed that Mappatabe' culture has an important role in shaping students' character, especially in terms of respect for parents, teachers, and others. The values contained in Mappatabe' also contribute to improving discipline and order in the school environment. However, the main challenge in preserving this culture is the influence of modernization and globalization which tends to reduce traditional respectful practices. In addition, the lack of in-depth understanding of the values of Mappatabe' makes most of the younger generation only see it as a formal ritual without understanding the moral essence contained in it. To maintain the sustainability of this culture in education, this research recommends collaboration between families, schools and communities in integrating Mappatabe' values into the formal and non-formal education curriculum. Strategies that can be implemented include strengthening local culture-based character education, increasing the involvement of traditional leaders in learning, and using interactive learning methods such as traditional games and folklore. This research makes an important contribution to the development of local culture based education in Indonesia, particularly in maintaining Bugis cultural identity amidst changing times. By maintaining and adapting the Mappatabe' culture, it is hoped that the younger generation can still understand and apply the ethical and moral values that characterize Bugis society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kewirausahaan siswa SMK Muhammadiyah Rappang melalui program pelatihan berbasis kewirausahaan di Kecamatan Pancarijang, Kabupaten Sidenreng Rappang. Di tengah tantangan globalisasi dan kemajuan teknologi, SMK Muhammadiyah Rappang menghadapi masalah ketidaksesuaian antara kompetensi yang diajarkan dan kebutuhan pasar kerja. Selain itu, banyak siswa berasal dari latar belakang ekonomi yang kurang mampu dan memiliki keterbatasan akses terhadap pelatihan kewirausahaan yang relevan. Program pelatihan ini dirancang untuk mengatasi masalah di bidang produksi dan pemasaran, dengan memberikan keterampilan yang dibutuhkan untuk menciptakan produk berkualitas dan memasarkan produk menggunakan teknologi digital.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini melibatkan asesmen kebutuhan awal, pelatihan inovasi produk, serta pelatihan pemasaran digital dan branding. Program ini juga mencakup pendampingan dalam implementasi strategi pemasaran dan produksi yang telah diajarkan. Hasil dari pelatihan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan siswa dalam hal inovasi produk, pengelolaan produksi yang lebih efisien, serta kemampuan pemasaran produk secara online melalui media sosial dan platform e-commerce.Pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa meskipun tantangan dalam produksi dan pemasaran masih ada, penggunaan teknologi tepat guna dan pemahaman tentang pemasaran digital dapat meningkatkan daya saing produk lokal. Program ini tidak hanya memberikan keterampilan kewirausahaan kepada siswa, tetapi juga memberdayakan masyarakat sekitar untuk menjadi wirausahawan yang mandiri dan inovatif. Keberhasilan program ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan lapangan kerja baru dan memperkuat perekonomian lokal di Kabupaten Sidenreng Rappang.
