Abstract

This study tries to investigate the lipa'sabbe (lip seb) shape, style, and meaning. Researchers carried out their studies at Tosora Village, Majauleng sub-district, kab, one of Sengkang City's first weaving communities. Wajo. This study is a qualitative descriptive one that gives a general summary of the appearance, usage, and significance of the lipa'sabbe (lip seb). The Tosora village community, kec. Majaleng, was seen, interviewed, and documented as part of the study's data gathering procedures. According to the research findings, lipa'sabbe (lip seb) patterns may be categorized into three categories: traditional patterns, semi-traditional patterns, and modern patterns. Abstract

This research was conducted to measure the student's ability to understand idiomatic expressions and to find out the student’s difficulty in understanding idiomatic expressions. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method as the research methodology. The population in this study is the fourth-semester students in the English education department, faculty of teacher, training, and education of Muhammadiyah University of Sidenreng Rappang, and the sample in this study is 29 students (4 male students and 25 female) fourth semester, English department, faculties of teacher, training, and education of Muhammadiyah University of Sidenreng Rappang. The data collection methods used in this research are written test, interview, and recorder. A written test was chosen to measure students'' ability to identify idiomatic expressions, interviews were used to find out the student’s difficulty in understanding idiomatic expressions, and the recorder were used to record the interview process and also as data documentation. The data obtained from the test will be processed with a scoring technique and the data obtained from the interview will be processed by the descriptive analysis method. As the result of the study, the written test shows that 2 students categorized on a very good level, 7 on Good, 5 on Average, 3 on Poor, and 3 on very poor, while the interview shows that as many as 62% of respondents have difficulty because they lack vocabulary, 19% of respondents have difficulty understanding idioms based on their language style, and 33% of respondents have difficulty understanding idioms.

Abstract

This research looks at teachers' perspectives or suppositions on language anxiety, particularly in the matter of how they have seen and managed students’ language anxiety in their actual teaching practices. In reference to the characteristic features of student anxiety reported in the relevant literature This research additionally talks about the teachers' perspectives as far as whether there are any gaps or inconsistencies with the students' affective needs in language classroom. In this sense, this research can be considered as an endeavor to give some elective bits of knowledge into language anxiety from a different point of view. Similar to the interview study by Young (1992) concerning the points of view of language specialists (Krashen, Omagio, Terrell, and Rardin) on language anxiety, this research likewise utilizes a qualitative in-depth interview format to examine the two experienced EFL teachers' viewpoints on the circumstance. Abstract

The research entitled " The Influence of Canva Application on the English Language Learning Outcomes Students of SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang" was motivated by the absence of learning using the Canva application applied to Indonesian subjects, so there is a need for innovation in the use of learning media to create a pleasant learning atmosphere for students. This study aims to determine the effect of using the canva application on the learning outcomes of students of SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang. The instrument in this study used a multiple-choice test of 20 numbers. The sample in this study was 23 students of grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah. For data analysis techniques in this study using the mean formula. Based on the results of the study, in accordance with hypothesis testing through data analysis, the initial test score (Y) results were lower than the final test score (X), namely Y = 75.65 < X = 86.73. The difference in the results of these scores proves that the working hypothesis that states there is an influence on the use of canva on Indonesian the learning outcomes students of grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang is "accepted". While the null hypothesis that states "there is no effect of using canva on Indonesian the learning outcomes students of grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang is "rejected". Thus, it can be concluded that the use of canva in learning affects the Indonesian learning outcomes students of grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of English Language Teaching (ELT) students regarding the Independent Campus Learning Program (MBKM) and Independent Student Exchange (PMM) initiatives introduced by the Indonesian government in 2020. The research focuses on a sample of ten fourth-semester students from the English Education Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang, selected through random sampling techniques. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews, employing a qualitative methodology for analysis.The findings indicate that the MBKM program is well-facilitated by universities, faculties, and study programs, which has resulted in high student interest and participation. The MBKM initiative allows students to develop diverse skills and knowledge by engaging in learning activities both within and outside their main study programs. It also promotes cultural exchange and integration, as evidenced by the experiences of students participating in the Nusantara module. Overall, the research highlights that the MBKM program significantly enhances students' capacity to become multifaceted individuals, better prepared for the demands of the modern workforce. The program's emphasis on independent and cross-disciplinary learning aligns with the government's objective to create a more versatile and competent graduate pool.

Abstract

Vocabulary is a fundamental aspect of language proficiency, serving as a critical foundation for communication, comprehension, and academic success. However, many vocational high school students face challenges in mastering English vocabulary due to teaching methods that often overlook individual differences in learning needs and abilities. This study explores the implementation of the "Learning Vocabulary" program, designed as part of a teaching assistance initiative at SMKN 3 Parepare, to improve students' vocabulary mastery through personalized and game-based learning methods.The program integrates weekly vocabulary activities involving nouns, adverbs, verbs, and adjectives, utilizing interactive games such as Word Guessing Game, Memory Match, Scrabble, and Role-Playing. These methods aim to foster student motivation and active engagement while addressing individual needs. Data were collected through vocabulary tests, observations, and interviews, and analyzed descriptively.The results reveal significant improvements in students' vocabulary mastery and motivation, highlighting the effectiveness of games-based learning in creating a fun and interactive learning environment. Challenges, including initial resistance to new methods, were addressed through consistent implementation and student adaptation. This study concludes that the "Learning Vocabulary" program, with its focus on individualized and engaging activities, is an effective model for enhancing vocabulary learning in vocational schools.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of teaching assistance as an embodiment of the Independent Learning - Independent Campus (MBKM) program, focusing on its effectiveness for both educators and students at the high school level. Conducted at SMA Kristen Rantepao, the research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing digital questionnaires via Google Forms to gather data. The findings center on three key aspects of student activities: (a) interaction and socialization levels, (b) collaboration with teachers, and (c) emotional connections with students to boost motivation and learning enthusiasm. The results demonstrate a significant positive impact, with educators acknowledging the program's role in easing their teaching burdens and inspiring students with innovative and creative teaching methods. This program has been identified as effective in enhancing student learning engagement and fostering collaboration among all stakeholders. To optimize the outcomes, it is recommended to provide comprehensive training for participating students.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing the speaking confidence of secondary school students at UPT SMA Negeri 1 Sidrap. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on students’ experiences and perceptions in the process of learning English. The participants of the study were eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation to obtain comprehensive information regarding the factors affecting students’ speaking confidence. The findings reveal that students’ speaking confidence is influenced by two main categories of factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include language proficiency, previous speaking experience, and psychological aspects such as self-confidence, anxiety, and personality. Meanwhile, external factors include the teacher’s role, teaching methods, learning materials and media, peer support, and classroom atmosphere. The analysis demonstrates that students' speaking confidence is fundamentally influenced by the interplay of internal and external dimensions. Internally, the primary obstacles originate from linguistic deficiencies (specifically in vocabulary and grammar) alongside psychological barriers such as shyness and apprehension. Conversely, externally, the teacher's pedagogical approach and instructional methods emerge as the most impactful drivers. The integration of creative media and a supportive classroom climate significantly mitigate the fear of social judgment, thereby lowering students' internal anxiety. In conclusion, while internal readiness poses a challenge, a safe and encouraging external environment serves as the vital catalyst for improving students' confidence in oral English communication.

Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Pertama masih menghadapi tantangan dalam penguatan kemampuan komunikatif dan literasi digital peserta didik. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi bahasa Inggris dan literasi digital melalui pendampingan pembelajaran berbasis literasi digital menggunakan metode Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Panca Rijang melalui lima tahapan, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, perencanaan, pelaksanaan, monitoring dan evaluasi, serta tindak lanjut. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan keaktifan dan keberanian peserta didik dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris melalui aktivitas komunikatif berbasis media digital, serta meningkatnya kemampuan dalam memanfaatkan sumber digital secara lebih terarah. Kegiatan ini efektif meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan berpotensi diterapkan secara berkelanjutan di sekolah.

Abstract

Penguasaan grammar dan structure merupakan fondasi penting dalam keterampilan berbahasa Inggris, namun pembelajaran sering berfokus pada hafalan aturan sehingga siswa kurang terlatih bernalar, menganalisis kesalahan, dan menerapkan kaidah pada konteks nyata. Kegiatan ini bertujuan melaksanakan pelatihan grammar dan structure yang berorientasi Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) melalui pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam (deep learning approach) di SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang. Pelatihan dilaksanakan pada peserta didik kelas XI (IPA dan IPS) melalui rangkaian tahap: analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan modul berbasis masalah, praktik terbimbing, diskusi kolaboratif, dan refleksi metakognitif. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran berlangsung pada rentang kegiatan mengajar di kelas XI selama periode PLP 2 (Oktober–November 2025). Laporan Kegiatan PLP FKIP – SMA Muhammadiyah Rappang.Strategi utama meliputi analisis pola kalimat dari teks autentik, error analysis berbasis alasan, rekonstruksi kalimat, serta tugas kreasi teks yang menuntut siswa mengevaluasi pilihan struktur sesuai tujuan komunikasi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam mengidentifikasi fungsi unsur kalimat, memberikan justifikasi terhadap pemilihan struktur, serta menghasilkan kalimat/teks yang lebih tepat dan bervariasi. Dengan demikian, pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam yang dipadukan dengan tugas HOTS efektif untuk memperkuat pemahaman konseptual sekaligus ketepatan penggunaan grammar dan structure.
