Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) model implementation at SMK Negeri 1 Kuala Kurun, specifically in the Business Engineering and Motorcycle (TBSM) program. Using a sequential explanatory design research method, the analysis reveals the complexities involved in implementing TEFA, which encompasses various factors influencing the success and suboptimality of the program. Data collected through questionnaires and interviews reveal a significant gap between the established targets and the achieved outcomes, with the highest gap value found in the variable of TEFA's alignment with student expectations. This indicates an opportunity to improve the alignment between program implementation and student expectations. Additionally, factors such as teacher readiness and infrastructure also play a role, although the gaps in these areas are relatively smaller. The variables related to learning and practice, while contributing the least, remain important as teacher support and opportunities to apply theory significantly influence students. Recommendations from this study include a comprehensive evaluation of the curriculum, improvement of facilities, and better management of time and Quality Control (QC) systems, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of TEFA. This research emphasizes the need for integration between the curriculum and industry demands to prepare students for the challenges in the workforce

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) aims to solve the problems faced by farmer group partners, such as: (1) unequal financial capabilities in each member of the farmer group, (2) less good agricultural yields if smoke appears during the long dry season, and (3) high operational costs because they depend on fuel consumption for the plant watering process. The implementation of core activities in this PKM program consists of two stages, namely; (1) solar cell pump assembly training to provide solutions for partners who are not familiar with solar-powered portable water pump technology and still depend on using fuel pumps as a means of watering plants, and (2) solar cell pump operation and maintenance training to provide solutions for partners who cannot operate and maintain solar-powered portable water pumps.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the competency of SMK graduates with Dudi competence (Business World/Industry World). There is still a gap between the skills possessed by vocational high school graduates and the needs of the business and industry world. This is due to the mismatch between the competencies taught in education and the existing technological developments. Multiple Criteria Utility Assessment (MCUA) is a method used in decision-making that involves multiple criteria or factors that need to be evaluated. This method helps in selecting the best alternative based on objective assessments of various relevant factors. It involves collecting data on criteria relevant to decision-making and then assigning weights or importance to each criterion. Then, each alternative is evaluated based on these criteria, and a value or score is given for each alternative on each criterion. These scores are then used to calculate the utility value for each alternative. The results obtained show that Problem A, which is communication skills with a total value of 165 after being multiplied by the weight, becomes the first priority for improvement. Problem B, management skills, has a total value of 155, making it the third priority for improvement. The total value of 155 becomes the second priority for improvement. Overall, it is necessary to design an integrated and sustainable program in schools or educational institutions to enhance students' communication, planning and organizational skills, as well as their management abilities. Collaboration with industries and the implementation of active and project-based teaching methods can provide practical experiences to students. It is also important to involve experts and industry practitioners in designing programs that are relevant to the current job market needs.
