Abstract

Teachers almost never carry out learning that is oriented towards higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The author also rarely uses learning media. As a result, the learning atmosphere in the classroom is stiff and the children don't look cheerful. .based on the results of interviews with several students, information was obtained that (a) students were lazy to attend lessons that were mostly carried out by the teacher by means of lectures (b) apart from lectures, the method that was always used by the teacher was assignments or homework (PR). Some students claim to be bored with tasks that are only theoretical. To face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, students must be equipped with higher-order thinking skills. One of the HOTS-oriented learning models and suggested in the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum is the Discovery Learning learning model. Discovery learning is a learning process that occurs when students are not presented with information directly but students are required to organize their understanding of that information independently. After carrying out the mathematics learning model of Discovery Learning, the authors found that the learning processes and results of students increased. Better than previous studies. When the Discovery Learning model was applied to other VIII graders, it turned out that the students' learning processes and outcomes were just as good. Discovery Learning learning practices that work well, the authors conclude as a HOTS-oriented learning best practice with the Discovery Learning model.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) have become a significant health issue at both national and global levels. The increasing prevalence of NCDs is closely related to dietary habits that include high cholesterol intake. Excessive cholesterol in the body can lead to various complications, such as heart disease, stroke, and hypertension. Therefore, this outreach aims to educate and enhance public knowledge regarding the complications caused by high cholesterol and preventive measures that can be taken. The outreach activities were conducted face-to-face, involving active participation from the participants. The methods used in the outreach included presentations, interactive discussions, and Q&A sessions to ensure better understanding of the topic. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests conducted before and after the outreach. Data analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk test showed p < 0.05 for both pre-tests and post-tests, indicating that the data were not normally distributed (P > 0.05). Further analysis using the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant change in participants' knowledge before and after the outreach, with a p-value < 0.05. The results of this outreach are expected to have a positive impact on the public’s knowledge regarding health risks associated with high cholesterol and to encourage individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. Thus, it is hoped that the prevalence of NCDs can decrease and the community will be more aware of the dangers of high cholesterol.

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematika dan pemecahan masalah matematika merupakan dua kemampuan yang sangat diperlukan oleh setiap orang dalam menghadapi kehidupan, khususnya siswa dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis studi-studi kualitatif tentang kemampuan komunikasi matematika dan pemecahan masalah matematika yang dilakukan dalam kurun waktu 2018 – 2023. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode SLR (Systematic Literature Review) terhadap semua artikel hasil penelitian kualitatif yang terindeks dalam Sinta dan Google Scholar. Studi ini digunakan untuk mendapatkan kekuatan kajian ilmiah dalam membangun kerangka kerja kemampuan komunikasi matematika terhadap pemecahan masalah matematika melalui jenis indikator yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Hasil dari kajian beberapa artikel tentang komunikasi matematika dan pemecahan masalah matematika, dalam kajian ini merekomendasikan jenis komunikasi matematika terhadap pemecahan masalah matematika yaitu: 1) menyatakan situasi, gambar atau benda nyata dalam bahasa, atau simbol matematika, 2) menjelaskan dan memahami representasi matematika. 3) mendengarkan dan menulis yang berkaitan dengan matematika, 4) menjelaskan dan membuat konjektur dan pertanyaan yang telah dipelajari.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to determine the results of the implementation of Video Explainer in terms of students' Problem Solving Ability. This research is Classroom Action Research which consists of 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. The data collection technique is through giving a problem solving ability test. The subjects in this research were 28 students of class IX SMP Negeri 1 Sinunukan. The results of the students' problem solving ability test in the initial test showed that 5 students (17.85%) experienced completeness with an average ability test score of 54.82 in the very low problem solving ability category. In the first cycle, there was a classical improvement as shown by the achievement of 13 students (46.42%) completing the test with an average score of 66.78 in the low category. Implementation continued in cycle II, student test results experienced a classical increase, 25 students (89.28%) completed the results with an average score of 80.23 in the high category. From the results of the tests given, there was an increase from the initial test to cycle II. Thus, it is concluded that implementing explainer videos can improve the problem solving abilities of class IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Sinunukan.

Abstract

This research aims to see whether there is an increase in students' ability to understand mathematical concepts by implementing the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model assisted by e-modules. This research is classroom action research (PTK), with research subjects of class XI MIPA-1 students at SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, totalling 310 people. The object of the research is to examine whether or not the application of the CUPs learning model assisted by e-modules in class This research consisted of 2 cycles, in cycle I based on analysis showed that 22 students (62.810%) met the criteria for learning success, while 13 students (37.14%) did not meet the learning success criteria. Cycle I produced a mean class score of 78.66. Furthermore, in the second cycle there was an increase, namely the total number of students who achieved the criteria for learning success became 36 students (88.107%) or the high category, although 4 students (11.49%) still did not meet the criteria for learning success and the average class score was 86. 38. The research results obtained show that the application of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model assisted by e-modules in trigonometry material improves the ability to understand mathematical concepts in class XI MIPA-1 students at SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan model pembelajaran yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk peningkatan prestasi matematika pada siswa Kelas V SDN 327 Sinunukan Mandailing Natal mengetahui adanya peningkatan prestasi belajar melalui impelementasi pendekatan konstektual pada siswa Kelas V SDN 327 Sinunukan Mandailing Natal, Meningkatkan keaktifan siswa pada kegiatan pembelajaran yang akan membawa peningkatan prestasi belajar melalui impelementasi pendekatan konstektual pada siswa Kelas V SDN 327 Sinunukan Mandailing Natal. Sesuai dengan jenis penelitian yang dipilih, yaitu penelitian tindakan, maka penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian tindakan dari Kemmis dan Taggart yaitu berbentuk spiral dari sklus yang satu ke siklus yang berikutnya. Setiap siklus meliputi planning (rencana), action (tindakan), observation (pengamatan), dan reflection (refleksi). Langkah pada siklus berikutnya adalah perncanaan yang sudah direvisi, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Sebelum masuk pada siklus 1 dilakukan tindakan pendahuluan yang berupa identifikasi permasalahan. Setelah penelitian ini selesai diharapkan dapat bermanfaat Bagi kepala sekolah sebagai bahan masukan atau input untuk dijadikan bahan pertimbangan dalam mengambil kebijaksanaan untuk mendorong guru dalam menciptakan metode yang tepat untuk menentukan keberhasilan pengelolaan pembelajaran di sekolah, sebagai bahan masukan untuk dijadikan dasar yang akan dikerjakan dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan guru lebih berkembang dan terarah dalam mengkelola situasi dan kondisi kelas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika pada materi turunan fungsi serta mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan kesalahan siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deksriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara terhadap lima siswa kelas XII di Madrasah Aliyah YPKS Padangsidimpuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa sering melakukan kesalahan dalam proses penurunan fungsi, perhitungan dan penulisan jawaban akhir. Kesalahan tersebut diakibatkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman konsep, terburu-buru dalam menyelesaikan soal, serta kurangnya ketelitian dalam memeriksa jawaban. Faktor-faktor ini menyimpulkan bahwa perlunya strategi pembelajaran yang lebih efektif, termasuk penguatan konsep dasar, pengajaran langkah-langkah penyelesaian soal, dan pembiasaan siswa untuk memeriksa kembali jawaban mereka. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran matematika, khususnya pada materi turunan fungsi.

Abstract

Etnomatematika merupakan sebuah terobosan konsep matematika yang di dalam terdapat suatu budaya yang dikaitkan dengan matematika. Hadirnya matematika yang berbaur budaya akan memberikan kontribusi atau sumbangan yang teramat besar terhadap pembelajaran matematika. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan atau menggambarkan suatu objek-objek matematika yang terdapat pada sebuah permainan tradisional kelereng dan apa manfaatnya di dalam pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur secara langsung kepada narasumber. Kemudian untuk teknik analisis data dilakukan peneliti adalah dengan reduksi data, penyajian data dan analisis data serta pemaparan data. Hasil dari penelitian adalah menunjukkan bahwa permainan tradisional kelereng memiliki etnomatematika yang berkaitan dengan konsep-konsep matematika diantaranya konsep geometri seperti lingkaran, bola, segitiga dan serta konsep jarak. Konsep-konsep matematika tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memperkenalkan dan memahami konsep geometri dan jarak melalui budaya lokal. Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Natural Sciences. This is because the learning model applied is not optimal and students are less interested in the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to change the implementation of learning in the classroom by using the make a match learning model (finding card pairs) in the learning process. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the application of the make a match model can improve the learning outcomes of grade IV science at SD Negeri 200405 Hutaimbaru Jl. Sibolga, KM 4 Hutaimbaru, Kec. Hutaimbaru, Padangsidimpuan City, North Sumatra Province. This study aims to determine the application of the make a match model can improve the learning outcomes of grade IV science at SD Negeri 200405 Hutaimbaru Jl. Sibolga, KM 4 Hutaimbaru, Kec. Hutaimbaru, Padangsidimpuan City, North Sumatra Province. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) at the planning, action, observation and reflection stages at SD Negeri 200405 Hutaimbaru. The data collection instruments used were tests and observations. The results of the study showed that the application of the make a match model can improve student learning outcomes. This is evidenced by the increase in the average value and completeness of student learning outcomes, namely in the pre-cycle an average of 53.7% and completeness of 13% (3 out of 24 students). In cycle I, meeting I, the average score of student scores was 60.2% and student completeness was 39% (5 out of 24 students). While cycle I, meeting II, the average score of student scores was 72.5% and student completeness was 50% (12 out of 24 students). In cycle I, meeting I, the average score of student scores was 79.1% and student completeness was 71% (17 out of 24 students). While cycle II meeting II became the average score of student scores 92.9% and student completion 92% (22 out of 24 students). It can be concluded that the application of the make a match learning model can improve the learning outcomes of grade IV science at SD Negeri 200405 Hutaimbaru. For further research, the researcher hopes that the learning process will be further improved in order to achieve learning objectives, and the time is extended in the application of the make a match learning model

Abstract

Measures of central tendency, such as the mean, median, and mode, are fundamental concepts in statistics that can be used to support decision-making. The purpose of this study is to describe how university students reason about measures of central tendency when comparing two age distributions of patients presented in the form of frequency polygons, from a commognitive perspective. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with an exploratory approach. A total of 37 students participated in the study, four of whom were selected as research subjects—two representing the calculative category and two representing the visual-interpretative category. The research instruments consisted of one problem related to measures of central tendency and an interview guide. The problem included three questions, each presenting data in the form of frequency polygons. The data were thematically analyzed using Sfard’s commognitive framework, focusing on four components: word use, visual mediators, routines, and narratives. The findings reveal that students in the calculative category predominantly used visual mediators and routines. In contrast, students in the visual-interpretative category emphasized the use of word use to construct narratives. Keywords: commognitive, reasoning, measures of central tendency, frequency polygon
