Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical problem-solving abilities of 25 eleventh-gradestudents at SMA Negeri 1 Barumun Tengah in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)questions related to arithmetic and geometric sequences. The research employed a descriptivequalitative approach with data collected through written tests, interviews, and observations. Thefindings indicate that most students struggled to solve HOTS questions systematically. Based onPolya’s problem-solving steps, 80% of students were able to understand the problem, 60% coulddevise a strategy, 52% were able to carry out the strategy, and only 36% evaluated their resultsindependently. The greatest difficulties were found in the planning and evaluation stages, primarilydue to low critical thinking skills, lack of exposure to contextual questions, and the dominance ofprocedural-based teaching. These findings highlight the importance of systematically integratingHOTS questions into mathematics instruction to foster students’ higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating GeoGebra in mathematicsinstruction through a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by the TechnologicalPedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework in teaching three-dimensional geometry. Theresearch subjects consisted of 30 twelfth-grade science students and three mathematics teachersfrom SMA Negeri 1 Sihapas Barumun, while the object of the study was the implementation processof GeoGebra-assisted learning. A mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential designwas employed, combining quantitative data (tests and attitude questionnaires) and qualitative data(observations and structured interviews). The results revealed a significant improvement in students'conceptual understanding, with average test scores increasing from 78.5 to 87.2. Additionally, therewas a positive shift in students' affective responses, including enhanced motivation and selfconfidence, as well as increased technical and collaborative skills. In conclusion, the integration ofGeoGebra within the PBL-TPACK framework effectively enhances spatial reasoning, learningengagement, and 21st-century skills in mathematics education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has significantly transformed the field of education, particularly at thesenior high school level. On one hand, technology offers great potential to enhance student learning motivationthrough broad access to information, interactive media, and flexible learning schedules. On the other hand,digital disruption also presents challenges such as social media distractions, visual fatigue, and unequalaccess to technology. This study aims to identify the factors that influence students’ learning motivation in thedigital era and formulate strategies to optimize the use of technology in education. Employing a descriptivequantitative approach, a survey was conducted involving 72 science-track students at SMA Negeri 1 PadangBolak. The ARCS model (Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction) served as the analytical frameworkto assess student motivation. The results show that 70.8% of students reported increased motivation with theaid of digital technology, especially in the areas of attention and satisfaction. However, 55.5% admitted beingdistracted by social media, while 48.6% experienced fatigue due to prolonged screen exposure. The studyrecommends the integration of technology-based pedagogy, the strengthening of digital literacy, andproportional supervision of digital device use to foster effective, meaningful, and motivating learningexperiences

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana hasil tingkat validitas, efektivitas dan tingkat praktikalitas produk pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis proyek pada materi matriks untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Dalam hal ini, peneliti mengembangkan bahan ajar berbasis proyek untuk meningkatkan komunikasi peserta didik. Urgensi pengembangan bahan ajar matematika adalah untuk mengakifkan aktivitas peserta didik dalam pembelajaran, peserta didik mampu menyelesaikan tugas proyek sesuai dengan Langkah pembelajaran sintaks proyek. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Reseacrh and Development (R&D) dengan pendekatan (model) ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Impelementation and Evaluation). Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian diperuntukkan untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian, maka dapat dijelaskan (a) validasi oleh tim ahli sebanyak 3 validator dan rubrik yang digunakan sesuai BNSP pada tahun 2014 Sesuai dengan ketentuan BNSP dinyatakan valid tanpa revisi jika nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh ≥ 2,75 (rata-rata perolehan kelayakan isi 3,67; kelayakan bahasa 3,50; kelayakan penyajian 3,33 dan kelayakan kegrafikan 3,38) , dari hasil jelas dinyatakan bahan ajar dinyatakan valid tanpa revisi dan dapat digunakan untuk proses pembelajaran pada materi matriks; (b) Produk bahan ajar berbasis proyek digunakan dalam meningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Padang Lawas, memenuhi kriteria aktivitas memenuhi waktu toleran dan ketuntasan sebesar 85%, praktis digunakan dengan kategori baik dan (c) Hasil praktikalitas ditunjukkan dengan hasil bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis melalui bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berbasis proyek siswa Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 Padang Lawas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berupa Modul Ajar dan LKPD untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswadengan menggunakan model Pembelajaran Bebasis Masalah (PBM) Kelas X MAS BABURROHMAN Desa Terapung Raya materi Eksponen. Kualitas produk yang dikembangkan dinilai berdasarkan aspek kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Prosedur pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran mengacu pada model pengembangan4-D, yaitu Define (Pendefinisian), Design (Perancangan), Develop (Pengembangan), dan Disseminate (Penyebaran). Karena keterbatasan peneliti, penelitian dilakukan hingga tahap develop. Subjek Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X MAS BABURROHMAN Desa Terapung Raya, berjumlah 26 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kualitas perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan adalah lembar penilaian Modul Ajar dan LKPD untuk mengukur kevalidan, angketrespon siswa dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran untuk mengukur kepraktisan, tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa untukmengukur keefektifan.Kualitas kevalidan perangkat pembelajaran memenuhi kriteria valid berdasarkan skorrata-rata Modul Ajar yaitu 4,05 dari skor maksimal 5,00 dengan kriteria baik dan skor rata-rata LKPD.

Abstract

This research aims to see whether there is an increase in students' ability to understand mathematical concepts by implementing the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model assisted by e-modules. This research is classroom action research (PTK), with research subjects of class XI MIPA-1 students at SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, totalling 310 people. The object of the research is to examine whether or not the application of the CUPs learning model assisted by e-modules in class This research consisted of 2 cycles, in cycle I based on analysis showed that 22 students (62.810%) met the criteria for learning success, while 13 students (37.14%) did not meet the learning success criteria. Cycle I produced a mean class score of 78.66. Furthermore, in the second cycle there was an increase, namely the total number of students who achieved the criteria for learning success became 36 students (88.107%) or the high category, although 4 students (11.49%) still did not meet the criteria for learning success and the average class score was 86. 38. The research results obtained show that the application of the Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) learning model assisted by e-modules in trigonometry material improves the ability to understand mathematical concepts in class XI MIPA-1 students at SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of pattern generalization strategy (SGP) in functional thinking of secondary school students. The profile of SGP in functional thinking of secondary school students in this study is a differentiator in revealing students' pattern generalization strategies in functional thinking in more detail. A qualitative approach was used in this study. Data collection was conducted on 220 students of MTsN 2 Padangsidimpuan. Qualitative analysis from Miles, Huberman & Saldana was conducted to analyze algebra assignments and student interview results. The results showed that students' SGP included arithmetic pattern generalization, factual pattern generalization, contextual pattern generalization, and symbolic pattern generalization. High ability students perform symbolic and contextual pattern generalization activities. Medium ability students generalize factual and contextual patterns, and low ability students generalize factual and arithmetic patterns. The contribution of this research is helping students understand the concept of functional material better, increasing students' generalization abilities, developing students' abstract thinking skills and helping teachers in designing learning methods.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a discrete mathematics module based on discovery learning to improve students’ mathematical understanding in higher education. This research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with a mixed approach and ADDIE model in the product development stage. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, tests and interview guides. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used in this research combines qualitative and quantitative descriptive. The results include (1) Reviewing the study of discrete mathematics module development; it obtained valid results after going through several assessments and revisions, and the practicality of developing this discrete mathematics module was categorized as practical; it is not surprising that the module can increase students’ mathematical understanding with a range of 37.97; (2) Judging from effectiveness; it is obtained from inferential statistics that significance is 0.00, which means there is an influence on the use of discovery learning-based discrete mathematics modules on students’ mathematical understanding. These results have implications that the module has proved effective in improving students’ mathematical understanding in higher education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the demands of 21st-century learning require teachers to implement meaningful and student-centered learning through an immersive learning approach. However, many elementary school teachers still face limitations in understanding the concept of immersive learning and utilizing technology-based learning media, especially three-dimensional (3D) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based media. Therefore, this Field Study activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of teachers and students in implementing immersive learning through the use of 3D-based learning media and AI technology at the UPTD of SD Negeri 155684 Lubuk Tukko 1, Pandan District. The activity was implemented through a four-day workshop involving teachers and students, using an approach of socialization, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussion, and reflection. The workshop materials covered the concept of immersive learning, the use of 3D-based learning media, gamification of learning through 3D Media applications, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in developing teaching materials and learning media. Evaluation of the activity was conducted through pre- and post-tests, participant observation, and analysis of the resulting learning products. .The results of the activity showed an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in designing and implementing technology-based immersive learning. Teachers were able to produce interactive learning media, teaching modules, and evaluation questions using 3D media, 3D media, and AI. Furthermore, this activity also increased teachers' motivation, creativity, and awareness of the importance of digital literacy in learning. This Field Study activity made a positive contribution to improving teacher competency and supporting the creation of more innovative, interactive, and relevant learning that reflects the characteristics of 21st-century learners.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to enhance teaching and learning in early education. This study applies deep learning approaches to support early cognitive development among primary students in an Indonesian Islamic school. A hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) model was designed to analyse students’ cognitive patterns, attention, and engagement. Using a mixed-methods design, the research involved 60 students aged 8–10 at MIS Terpadu Alhijrah Bintuju. The model processed multimodal classroom data to generate adaptive feedback and personalized learning pathways. Results showed significant improvements in attention (+18%), memory recall (+22%), and problem-solving (+25%) after eight weeks of AI-assisted learning. Qualitative findings revealed higher motivation, engagement, and self-regulation. The study demonstrates that culturally aligned AI systems can effectively enhance early cognitive development and promote learner autonomy in Islamic primary education.
