Abstract

Siak Regency, Riau Province has a high heterogeneity of vegetation with different types of land. This study aims to determine the types of cerambycid on different types of land in Siak Riau, Indonesia. The method used was Artocarpus trap with collection days consisting of days 4, 7, 10, 13, and 16 after the traps were set up. The collection was carried out on 3 different lands, namely oil palm plantations, rubber and settlements in Buantan Lestari Village, Bungaraya District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The beetles obtained were then made into an insectarium and identified by looking at the characters on the head, thorax, and abdomen. The results obtained as many as 11 types of cerambycid from 3 subfamilies. The most common types of beetles came from the genus Pterolophia from the Lamiinae subfamily on rubber plantations. Differences in vegetation and habitat conditions affect the number of species and individuals of Cerambycid located on different lands in Siak Regency, Riau Province, Indonesia. Keywords: Land use, longhorns beetle, Cerambycidae, Riau Province, Artocarpus trap

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Soil bugs or rice black bugs are one of the insects that like to suck rice plants. These insects suck rice plants in the vegetative and generative phases and have caused huge economic losses. This research aims to identify and study the appropriate of Soil Bugs species from several rice fields in Lubuk Sikarah District, Solok City, West Sumatra. This research uses a sampling method using light traps at night.  Morphological identification of rice black bug samples using a light microscope with the weakest magnification (4x10). The results showed that there were five species of soil bugs obtained, namely Scotinophara coarctata, S. zamboanga, S. trifurcata, S. alegria and S. manguindanaoana. Soil bugs are more commonly found in generative rice plants due to the suitability of food and environmental factors. The amount of S. coarctata are the most dominant because it is the most phytophagous of other species of rice black bugs. The characteristics of soil bugs observed were different distance between the ocelli, length of the third and fourth segments on the antennae, shape of the tubercle antiniferous, shape of the anterolateral pronotum, in the amount and shape of longitudinal veins and closed marginal cells in the forewing venation and different shape of abdominal tergit X.

Abstract

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education is seen as a way to create quality and competitive human resources entering the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era of the 21st century. The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia initiated its own STEM education trend since 2018. However, the STEM education movement in Indonesia is still rare, so STEM education needs to be developed. This service activity is based on the partner's problem, namely that the science teachers at this vocational school do not really know about STEM education, and so far there has never been anything held regarding the introduction of STEM education and how to integrate STEM in lessons. This service activity is carried out through the introduction of STEM education and integrating STEM education in science lessons to improve teacher professionalism. As an evaluation material for the success of implementing this service, participants were given a pretest and post-test regarding the participants' understanding and insight regarding STEM and its integration in learning. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the training activities succeeded in increasing the insight and skills in integrating STEM in learning among science teachers at Proskill Indonesia Health Vocational Schools in Pekanbaru and Tualang, namely by 82.81%. Based on the results of the satisfaction survey regarding the presentation of resource persons, implementation of activities, usefulness and sustainability of activities, they received a good response from training participants.

Abstract

Abstract

Bukit Tiga Puluh National park (TNBT) of Riau Province is a nature conservation area with a high diversity of fauna, one of which is the butterfly. Butterfly species diversity is influenced by the vegetation in their habitat. The TNBT utilization zone has a habitat type with varied vegetation. There is no information about the species of butterflies in the area. This study aimed to identify morphological character of butterflies and vegetation based on morphological characters. The method used was exploration. The catching area of the butterfly was the Granite waterfall and the Bukit Lancang path of TNBT utilization zone. Samples made as insectarium and herbarium. The  identification of butterfly characters consisted of the head, thorax, abdomen, legs and wings. There were a number of different types of butterflies and plants between the Granite waterfall area (22 and 28 species) and the Bukit Lancang paths (5 and 9 species). The type of butterfly was dominated by the family Nymphalidae. This is due to the amount of vegetation and environmental conditions that are more favorable in the granite waterfall area. The key determinants of butterfly species are the characters of the wing. The results of this study can contribute to maintaining the TNBT butterflies in Riau Province and also as database information of butterflies species in Indonesia.
