Abstract

The purpose of this community service program is to enhance awareness and knowledge of biodiversity and geoecotourism in Banyuwangi through experiential learning. By engaging youth participants from diverse backgrounds, the program provides hands-on experiences in local environmental conservation efforts, including coral reef restoration and sustainable farming practices. Using experiential learning as the primary approach, the program allows participants to directly interact with the community and natural environment, ensuring that theoretical knowledge is applied in real-life contexts. The results of this program show that participants gained valuable insights into sustainable practices and contributed to the preservation of local ecosystems. Furthermore, the program emphasized the role of green technologies and design thinking in addressing environmental challenges, leaving a positive impact on both the participants and the local community. The success of the program highlights the effectiveness of combining academic knowledge with practical engagement to foster sustainable development.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the public speaking and event-guiding skills of local residents in Tulus Besar Village, Tumpang District, Malang Regency. The village holds significant natural and cultural tourism potential but lacks trained human resources capable of effectively promoting and managing tourism events. The program was carried out in five stages: planning, coordination with partners, interactive training, evaluation, and publication. A participatory approach involving discussions, simulations, and role-play activities was applied to improve the participants’ practical communication skills. The results indicated an increase in participants’ confidence and speaking competence in tourism contexts, despite several challenges, including limited participant numbers, basic technical facilities, and scheduling constraints. Based on the evaluation and literature review, the training proved effective in supporting community-based tourism development. Further action is recommended through advanced training, facility improvement, and integration with local art and cultural programs to ensure sustainability.
