Abstract

The company has a problem of ineffectiveness in the layout of the raw material warehouse due to the use of storage methods that ignore factors such as the type, dimensions, and condition of the goods. This reduces the optimal function of the warehouse and increases the time to retrieve goods. This research aims to redesign the suitable and practical layout of the raw material warehouse by considering its form and function, as well as filling methodological gaps from previous research. The method used is class-based storage. Based on ABC analysis, the category with the highest value is class C goods, with 73 units. Meanwhile, from the fast, slow, non-moving (FSN) analysis, class F (fast-moving) goods have the highest frequency of movement, with a movement percentage of 63% for 10 units of goods. The warehouse slotting analysis shows an increase in the number of shelves from nine to 15 shelves with five different shelf models and layout changes in raw material warehouses 1 and 2. The class-based storage method results in a more organized layout, efficient movement of goods, and faster picking time to optimize warehouse functions.

Abstract

In 2020, the textile industry contributed nearly 7% of Indonesia's gross domestic product. The garment industry is still dominated by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) among the textile products. Although these SMEs are considered one of the economic pillars in Indonesia, many challenges require strategical scale-up to improve their competitiveness. One of the aspects to be improved is supply chain performance, as the supply chain controls material, information, and financial flow from both supply and demand sides. This study seeks to measure and evaluate supply chain performance in the garment industry, focusing the case on small and medium-scale enterprises. The Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) is used for Key Performance Index (KPI) determinants. Performance measurement starts by determining the criteria based on the performance measurement literature and expert opinion. Then, the weight of each criterion on the performance score is determined using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Paired comparison questionnaires for the criteria weighting were distributed to experts, and the answers were analyzed. The final performance value is obtained by multiplying the weight with the normalized performance value using the Snorm-De Boer formula. This study obtained 23 indicators from five processes: plan, make, source, deliver, and return, with the final value of SCM performance classified as good. The result can evaluate the company's current condition and propose a strategy to improve its performance.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic that has occurred throughout the world has hampered the world of education in carrying out the learning process. It requires the world of education to make rapid changes to the concept of learning so that the results of the learning process remain following the curriculum. However, during a pandemic, students are forced to study from home. Of course, this limits the essence of the practicum, which has to be done in the laboratory because students need interaction activities with machines. Augmented reality (A.R.) is a technology that allows users to interact with virtual objects. In this study, the application design is carried out using the rapid prototyping method, which can quickly accommodate the application development process. This study proves that AR-based applications can increase the understanding of 58% of students about the use of lathe, milling and 3D printing machines.

Abstract

This study presents a supplier selection problem of a raw material using an analytical hierarchy process. In the existing process, the delivery of raw materials experienced delays and impacted the production process. Therefore, this paper aims to determine the criteria for supplier selection and provide recommendations for the best vendor to be selected from the last request for quotation document. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), as a multi-criteria approach, was utilized in this research, starting from determining criteria, the weight of criteria, and the final score for each supplier. Through discussions with the company’s expert, procurement department, and users, as well as a review of the previous studies, this research defined three criteria, each consisting of three sub-criteria. The AHP approach was utilized to evaluate and determine the weights for the three criteria, yielding the following results: quality (62%), price (28%), and delivery (10%). The identified criteria, sub-criteria, and respective weights are subsequently utilized in a supplier selection scenario. Three suppliers of mild steel raw materials were evaluated using the weights of the criteria and sub-criteria obtained. Supplier 1 was selected because of having the higher alternative value of 0.602. The use of AHP in supplier selection is often impractical and contains subjectivity. Therefore, further research can be performed by integrating AHP with other methods, such as weighted scoring, to facilitate further the vendor selection process and integration with other methods, such as fuzzy logic, to reduce subjectivity.

Abstract

Sales transaction data contains rich information potentially used to support company competitiveness. However, interpreting and utilizing transaction data in developing marketing strategies remains a challenge, even for big companies. Therefore, this research aims to develop marketing strategies using data mining techniques. A medium-sized company focusing on producing and selling traditional motif clothes (batik) will be used as a case study. The negative sales trend is the biggest issue currently faced by the company. Hypothetically, this problem is caused by imported products sold at lower prices or changing consumer behavior after pandemic covid. Currently, the company only implements simple analysis of its transaction data. The analysis of transaction data, conducted through five data mining stages, yielded a shift from purchasing small quantities to larger quantities, increased purchases during the final week of each month, and increased purchases on religious occasions. Furthermore, the analysis revealed that 31.29% of all transactions were attributed to loyal consumers, and 192 customers exhibited in Cluster 1 (high transaction quantities and high transaction values). Further investigation also revealed that customers categorized as loyal customers and Cluster 1 have different behaviors that can be used to develop further customer relationship programs. Future research can be conducted by employing data mining techniques to study the organization's assortment of products. Management discussions reveal that changes in consumer buying behavior extend to the selection of items and batik themes.

Abstract

Accurate assessment and thorough analysis of managerial performance are essential in obtaining enhanced business performance. A real-time monitoring system is necessary to support the decision-making process. This study aims to design a business intelligence dashboard containing real-time monitoring of water quality to support the decision-making of the management team of an agribusiness company. Four steps were used in designing the business intelligence (BI) dashboard: (1) scope and plan, (2) analyze and define, (3) architect and design, and (4) build, test, and refine. The study started with determining the scope and plan for developing the BI dashboard to monitor the water pond’s quality in real time. The requirements of system input and output were identified in the analyze and define phase. The data warehouse model and design visualization regarding the BI dashboard were determined in the architect and design step. The system's architecture was analyzed in the final step, build and test. Three months of data collection and interviews with the management team of the fishery company were performed to support each step in BI design. This study’s outcome is a BI dashboard providing real-time monitoring that supports the management team's decision-making process. This study still considers two water quality measures; therefore, future research can be conducted using other measures. Future research can also be performed on another agribusiness company to support the decision-making process and increase competitiveness.

Abstract

Purpose – This study analyzes the potential of zakat for poverty alleviation using a system dynamics approach. Indonesia has excellent zakat potential as a country with the largest Muslim population. However, the poverty rate in Indonesia is still high at approximately 10.14% of the total population.Methodology – This study used system dynamics to model how zakat can reduce poverty in Indonesia. The system dynamics method was chosen because of its capability to model the complexity of the system. Findings – The model indicates that increasing the percentage of productive zakat allocation and decreasing the delay of the conversion program can reduce the poverty alleviation time from 200 to 120 years using the zakat nisab standard and from 32 years using the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) poverty standard. However, if Zakat faces limited funds, the focus should be on decreasing the conversion delay. Implications –This research can encourage people to become muzakki (zakat payers) because, as indicated in the simulation models, muzakki growth of muzakki has a role in poverty alleviation. In addition, Zakat institutions can use the developed model to simulate the best policy for poverty alleviation before implementing the program.Originality – Although the system dynamics approach has shown promising findings in modeling poverty, the number of studies utilizing system dynamics to analyze the effect of zakat on poverty reduction is limited. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of zakat in alleviating poverty by implementing a system-based approach and simulating system dynamics.
