Heidegger's Understanding of Hermeneutics Facticity and his Contribution to Caputo's Cold Hermeneutics in his Work entitled Radical Hermeneutics Anam, Rifqi Khairul

Abstract

Current scholarship on Heidegger's hermeneutics of facticity often concentrates on its relationship to his broader ontology, such as Sheehan's examination of Ereignis as the "appropriated clearing" of existence, or its implications for postmodern thought, as seen in Wiercinski's exploration of hermeneutic truth and the absence of objective truth. Nevertheless, the significant connection between Heidegger's hermeneutics of facticity and its impact on Caputo's "cold hermeneutics" remains insufficiently explored. This study aims to address this gap by asserting that Heidegger's conception of facticity as the "thrownness" of Dasein into a world of pre-understandings is essential to Caputo's "cold hermeneutics," which embraces the constraints and uncertainties of interpretation. This relationship is established through the notion of Ereignis as the dynamic unfolding of facticity, enabling Dasein to appropriate its thrownness. By utilizing a methodology of "hermeneutic situation" and "formal indication," this research examines Heidegger's primary works, including Being and Time and Ontology – The Hermeneutics of Facticity, to illustrate how facticity shapes our comprehension of Being and influences the ethical and political aspects of interpretation in Caputo's writings.

Romantic hermeneutics have inquiry to recapturing the truth from the text, which was intended for the writing purpose of the artist. Abstract

Film, as a form of mass communication, is fundamentally a textual representation that communicates a specific message. The act of watching a film is fundamentally equivalent to perusing a book, as both mediums are designed to communicate a message. Analyzing a film involves the engagement of our entire repertoire of memories, which serves as the foundation for interpreting its significance. The objective of this research is to illuminate the significance of covert marketing and the hazards it presents by examining the material object of the film The Joneses through the lens of Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics of suspicion and employing a content analysis approach. Film "The Joneses" portrays a seemingly flawless family with appealing adolescent children and a high socioeconomic status as an ideal. It is, however, disclosed that they are in fact covert marketing agents who engage in stealth marketing. Stealth marketing is an unscrupulous marketing strategy that exploits the consumer's subconscious, obscuring the fact that they are being approached with a product. This form of marketing deceives consumers into believing that they actually need the item, despite the fact that its practical value is superfluous. Instead, the item functions as a representation of one's social status. Therefore, stealth marketing contributes to the perpetuation of a consumer-driven society, in which consumption is employed to demonstrate one's identity and novelty.

Abstract

This research investigates the renowned adage Bhuppa'-Bhâbhu'-Ghuru-Rato in Madura through the lens of Hasan Hanafi's social theology. This study is based on library research. Hasan Hanafi's social theology is employed as a formal object with the goal of reconstructing theology as a social basis rather than an empty religious dogma, so that faith might have a practical purpose as a foundation for human ethics and motivation. Hasan Hanafi's social theology, which is pertinent to Islam in Madura as well as the worldwide spirit of Islam Nusantara, which depicts Islam as rahmah li al-'alamin, is accurate. Islamic concepts that apply broadly in society. Madura culture must first obey their parents, followed by the teachers, eventually the leaders. This indicates that in Madura's socio-cultural life, there are reference standards for the principal figures in a hierarchy that should be followed.

Abstract

This paper explores the contemporary crisis of AI-induced intellectual passivity, described here as a form of “nihilism in thinking.” Positioned at the intersection of technology critique and pre-modern epistemology, it brings Alan Turing’s foundational reflections into dialogue with the 11th-century Islamic thinker al-Ghazālī. The study proceeds in three steps: first, it revisits Turing’s 1950 essay to uncover an underlying “pedagogy of compliance,” where intelligence is equated with refined imitation. Second, it examines current research on human–AI interaction, highlighting practices such as “cognitive offloading” as symptomatic of this passivity. Third, it applies al-Ghazālī’s epistemological framework as the primary lens of analysis. The central argument is that this crisis can be identified as a form of “Digital Taqlid”—an uncritical reliance on algorithmic authority. As a corrective, the paper proposes al-Ghazālī’s method of taḥqīq (personal verification through intellectual struggle) as a practical ethos for sustaining authentic thought. By introducing an al-Ghazālīan perspective into AI debates, the study contributes a non-Eurocentric approach to the enduring tension between intellectual agency and passive imitation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the social role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) educators using a field-based case study approach, supplemented with data from Probolinggo City, an urban area characterized by strong religiosity and rapid social, cultural, and technological development. PAI educators in this region are not merely instructors of religious teachings within educational settings but also social actors who make crucial contributions to shaping students’ personalities, fostering religious tolerance, and maintaining social harmony in a diverse community. By employing a field-based case study methodology, this research draws on official information from the Probolinggo City Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Education Office, the PAI Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP PAI), as well as relevant academic literature to provide a comprehensive portrayal of PAI educators’ responsibilities. The findings reveal that PAI educators perform extensive social roles, ranging from instilling educational ethics, addressing social failures, developing digital norms, to actively participating in community activities. Challenges such as the influence of technological information, declining moral values among youth, and social diversity hinder the effectiveness of PAI educators’ functions. Therefore, collaboration among educational institutions, households, and religious social organizations is a key element in enhancing the role of PAI educators in fostering a morally upright and balanced generation.

Abstract

The use of social media among students of madrasah has become increasingly prevalent and plays a significant role in shaping their religious identity. This study aims to explore how madrasah students use social media to build and present their Islamic self-image, as well as how social recognition from peers influences this process. The method used is library research with a qualitative approach, analyzing relevant literature on social media, adolescent identity, and Islam. The main findings indicate that social media serves as a platform for madrasah students to express their religious identity through various forms of content such as religious preaching, calls to worship, and sharing religious knowledge. Social recognition from peers plays a key role in strengthening their Islamic self-image, although there is pressure to present an idealized and performative image. In conclusion, social media has transformed into an important space for the formation of religious identity among madrasah students, but it also brings psychological and social impacts that need to be considered

Abstract

This article explores the strategic role of religious extracurricular activities in shaping a character-driven young generation amid the challenges of the digital era. Departing from the premise that schools can no longer function merely as spaces for knowledge transfer, this study examines how religious activities such as Islamic spirituality clubs, regular study circles, Qur’an memorization programs, and faith-based social service strengthen not only students’ religious understanding but also their social identity and patterns of interaction, including on social media. This research employs a qualitative library research method through a critical review of relevant journals, books, research reports, and scholarly articles. The findings indicate that religious extracurricular activities contribute to: (1) the expression of personal piety through religious content shared on social media; (2) the representation of students’ involvement in religious programs that builds a collective image and a religious school culture; and (3) the negotiation of Islamic identity and digital ethics when facing contemporary online interaction trends. These three practices demonstrate that students’ religious character is manifested not only in offline spaces but also in their digital footprints. The article underscores the importance of strengthening religious extracurricular programs that are integrated with digital literacy and media ethics, so that social media can be utilized as a space for da’wah, character building, and the formation of a young generation that is religious, critically aware, and socially responsible.
