Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease, with cases continuing to increase every year. Early detection of hypertension and management of hypertension through activity patterns and nutrition, as well as other non-pharmacological management such as effleurage back massage, are very important to control blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. The aim of this social project was to increase cadres' knowledge and skills in preventing and managing hypertension. The method was community empowerment through outreach activities about hypertension, early detection and management of hypertension, and non-pharmacological management training with effleurage back massage to control blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. The activity was attended by 25 POSBINDU PTM cadres in the Sananwetan Community Health Center, Blitar City. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in cadres' knowledge of preventing and managing hypertension. Cadres' skills in non-pharmacological management through effleurage back massage were also increased. Effleurage Back Massage is a non-pharmacological management that can be easily applied by POSBINDU PTM cadres to hypertensive patients to control blood pressure and prevent complications.

Objectives: The aim of this research is to prove the effect of interpersonal relationship communication training according to Peplau's theory on nursing team collaboration in the operating room of the Haji Hospital, East Java Province. Methods: The quasi-experimental research method uses a pre-test-post-test control group design. The independent variable is interpersonal communication training. The dependent variable is the collaboration of the nursing team in the operating room. Data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The sample consisted of 25 nurses, with 13 in the treatment group and 12 in the control group. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test for the treatment group were p = 0.002 ≤  = 0.05. There was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results in the treatment group. In the control group, the Wilcoxon test obtained p = 1.00 ≥  = 0.05, meaning there was no difference between the pre-test and post-test results. In the Mann-Whitney U test post-test for the treatment and control groups, the p value was 0.004 ≤ = 0.05, indicating that there is an influence of interpersonal relationship communication training on nursing team collaboration. Conclusion: Nurses' interpersonal communication in the operating room is very important to improve teamwork. Nurses are expected to improve interpersonal communication and teamwork.

Abstract

Elderly is someone who is in the final stage of adulthood where age starts from 60 years and over. This condition is interpreted as a decrease, weakness, increased risk of various diseases and other physiological changes. Elderly who experience this condition is called frailty syndrome. If not handled properly frailty syndrome can lead to increased death in the elderly. This study used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach and data collection was carried out using a questionnaire as an instrument. The independent variables in this study were sociodemographic (abandonment and family functioning), physical, nutritional, psychological, functional and cognitive. While the dependent variable is frailty syndrome. The research sample was 95 respondents using purposive sampling technique. The analytical method uses the Spearman Rank test. Factors related to frailty syndrome at the Singosari Health Center were sociodemographic factors (neglect) (p=0.000), physical factors (p=0.000), functional factors (p=0.000), psychological factors (p=0.000), cognitive factors (p=0.000) and nutritional factors (p=0.000), while sociodemographic factors (family functions) (p=0.214) had no relationship with frailty syndrome and the most dominant factor was functional factors. The suggestion put forward is that the health center increases the intensity of physical exercise programs that already exist at the puskesmas and at the elderly Posyandu such as walking together and exercising for the elderly and inviting the elderly to participate actively in order to increase independence.

Abstract

There are quite a lot of hypertension sufferers in middle age in society and are easy to detect. Controlling hypertension requires lifelong medication and non-pharmacological measures. To reduce the side effects of treatment, non-pharmacological measures are needed, namely effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing on vital signs, oxygen saturation, and anxiety in primary hypertension sufferers aged 45 - 54 years. The method in this research uses a quasi–experimental design with a non-randomized pretest–posttest control group design approach. The sample for this study was primary hypertension sufferers aged 45 - 54 years who received routine treatment at the Health UPTD in the Blitar City area, totaling 101 sufferers (51 in the treatment group, 50 in the control group). Inclusion criteria for patients were having systolic blood pressure of 140 – 180 mmHg and diastolic 90 – 100 mmHg, receiving a maximum of 2 standard antihypertensive treatments and not smoking. Analysis used descriptive and t-tests. The results of this study showed that after effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing, there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 16.37 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 10.39 mmHg, pulse of 3.53 times/minute and respiration of 0.73 times per minute. Effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing are effective if done regularly and require a massage break after the sixth appointment.
