Based on the medical records taken from Surabaya Menur Mental Hospital in July until September 2016, the number of patients diagnosed with this disease is 439 patients. This study used quasi-experimental design (pre-post test controlgroup design), purposed to prove the effects of video-based discharge planning using family-centered nursing on the ability of family in taking care of patients with schizophrenia. The aim of this social project was to increase cadres' knowledge and skills in preventing and managing hypertension. The method was community empowerment through outreach activities about hypertension, early detection and management of hypertension, and non-pharmacological management training with effleurage back massage to control blood pressure in hypertension sufferers. The activity was attended by 25 POSBINDU PTM cadres in the Sananwetan Community Health Center, Blitar City. The results of the activity showed that there was an increase in cadres' knowledge of preventing and managing hypertension. Cadres' skills in non-pharmacological management through effleurage back massage were also increased. Abstract

Abstract

There are quite a lot of hypertension sufferers in middle age in society and are easy to detect. Controlling hypertension requires lifelong medication and non-pharmacological measures. To reduce the side effects of treatment, non-pharmacological measures are needed, namely effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing on vital signs, oxygen saturation, and anxiety in primary hypertension sufferers aged 45 - 54 years. The method in this research uses a quasi–experimental design with a non-randomized pretest–posttest control group design approach. The sample for this study was primary hypertension sufferers aged 45 - 54 years who received routine treatment at the Health UPTD in the Blitar City area, totaling 101 sufferers (51 in the treatment group, 50 in the control group). Inclusion criteria for patients were having systolic blood pressure of 140 – 180 mmHg and diastolic 90 – 100 mmHg, receiving a maximum of 2 standard antihypertensive treatments and not smoking. Analysis used descriptive and t-tests. The results of this study showed that after effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing, there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 16.37 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 10.39 mmHg, pulse of 3.53 times/minute and respiration of 0.73 times per minute. Effleurage back massage and slow deep breathing are effective if done regularly and require a massage break after the sixth appointment.

Abstract

Auditory hallucinations are a condition where a person experiences impaired auditory perception in the form of hearing false (unreal) sounds without any stimulation, so that patients need to be trained to control their hallucinations. Besides general therapy, there are several other ways to reduce patient's hallucination, one of the ways is by listening to dangdut music. The purpose of this study was to determine the response level of patients with auditory hallucinations before and after being given dangdut music therapy. The design of this study is quasi-experimental with a sample of 21 respondents according to predetermined criteria. Sampling used purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was the AHRS (Audiotory Hallucination Rating Scale) questionnaire. Analyse using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test. Based on the results of the research, there was a significant effect in the form of a decrease in the level of response to auditory hallucinations before and after being given dangdut music therapy with a value of ? = 0.000 (? =<0.05), which means that the hypothesis can be accepted and it is proven that the effect is 100% or 21 patients experienced a decrease in the level of response to auditory hallucinations from moderate to mild level of response. Where when listening to dangdut music, the focus of the patient's attention will be diverted from the sounds of hallucinations. It is hoped that the decrease in the response rate of patients with auditory hallucinations after giving music therapy can be a consideration for non-pharmacological therapy for sufferers of auditory hallucinations.
