Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the media's validation test results and describe the appearance of the PuzzleRedox game media on oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction material. The research method used is Design-Based Research. The appearance of the media is described by making a flowchart and storyboard. Flowcharts and Storyboards contain the stages of making PuzzleRedox media, including media design, media components, andrules for using PuzzleRedox media. The media will then be tested for validity on 3 expert validators, namely media experts, material experts, and learning experts. The validator is a chemistry education lecturer at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati and a Chemistry teacher at SMA Pasundan Cikalongkulon. Based on the validity test results, the mean value of r count was 0.859, higher than the critical value of 0.30. Therefore, the game media PuzzleRedox on the oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction material is declared valid and can be used as a medium or aids in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the improvement in student learning outcomes in the application of the problem-solving-based electron configuration e-module. The true-experiment method with a pretest-posttest design was used in this research so that learning outcomes from the control class and the experimental class could be compared. The research results show that during the process of implementing the e-module, student activities went very well. At the stages of analyzing problems, making hypotheses, collecting data, testing hypotheses, and making conclusions respectively, students got an average score of 84.25; 82.5; 80.5; 100; and 89.5. The statistical test of student learning outcomes in the control class and experimental class using the Mann-Withney U test shows a significance value of 0.013 so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between student learning outcomes with the application of e-modules and without the application of e-modules in learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation and feasibility of project-based worksheets through a low-sugar jelly candy making project in the Additive and Addictive Chemistry course. The project-based learning model was employed to foster active student engagement, enhance understanding of food additive concepts, and connect learning to everyday health issues. The study involved 30 sixth-semester students from the Chemistry Education Program and adopted a quantitative descriptive approach. The instruments used included observation sheets, worksheet assessments, posters, and presentations. All instruments were validated by three expert lecturers based on presentation, construct, content, and question aspects, with an average feasibility score of 89%, indicating that the instruments were highly suitable for use. Data analysis was conducted by calculating average scores using a percentage formula, which were then interpreted into specific assessment categories. The result showed average scores of 89 for student activity, 89 for worksheet completion, 97 for poster quality, and 88 for presentations. Each stage of the learning process was implemented systematically and demonstrated active student participation–from problem analysis to product publication. The final product low-sugar jelly candy, exhibited good quality in terms of texture, sugar content, and acceptability. All learning aspects were rated in the “very good” category. These findings suggest that project-based worksheets can serve as an effective learning medium to support student engagement in conceptual understanding, laboratory application, and communicative presentation of scientific results in chemistry learning. Abstract

Scientific explanation is an essential skill in chemistry learning because it connects scientific principles and objective evidence. This study aims to describe the application of guided inquiry-based learning in thin-layer chromatography experiments of synthetic and natural food coloring to develop students' scientific explanations in learning applications. This study used a pre-experimental method with a post-test only one-shot case study design. In the implementation of learning, the implementation rate reached 87%. The average scores for worksheets and scientific explanation tests were 78 and 79, respectively. This indicates that the application of guided inquiry-based worksheets through TLC experiments is practical in developing students' scientific explanation skills. This experiment can be adopted in broader chemistry learning contexts by integrating guided inquiry with thin-layer chromatography using real food colorants, thereby fostering scientific thinking and providing students with hands-on experience that emphasizes the relevance of chemistry in everyday life.

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of project-based worksheets utilizing red dragon fruit peel waste (Hylocereus polyrhizus) to develop students’ science process skills (SPS). The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case study design, conducted at a vocational high school in Cimahi City, involving 31 senior high school students from Class XI Industrial Chemistry-C. The research instruments consisted of student activity observation sheets, project-based worksheets, and SPS performance sheets. The results showed an average student activity score of 95%, a cognitive SPS score of 90%, and a psychomotor SPS score of 96%, all categorized as “excellent.” Hence, the project-based worksheet on producing edible straws from red dragon fruit peel waste was proven to be highly feasible and effective in developing students’ SPS.
