Abstract

Abstract

Laboratory liquid waste is one of the problems encountered in universities. Before discharged into the aquatic environment, the liquid waste must pass through the processing first. One way that can be done to reduce the contamination of laboratory waste is by lowering the heavy metal content contained in the waste by using electrocoagulation method. Electrocoagulation becomes one of the alternative waste treatment because this method is easy and simple to do, but produces high efficiency of metal removal. In this research has been tested the liquid waste treatment laboratory by using electrocoagulation method. The processing of liquid waste by electrocoagulation using Al-Al electrodes, gives a very significant metal removal result. Including decreased levels of organic compounds and total solids in waste decreased. However, the waste from the treatment with electrocoagulation has not met the required quality standard in West Java Provincial Regulation No. 6 of 1999 on the Standard of Waste Water Quality. Because of the high concentration of metal in laboratory liquid waste, it is necessary to process the waste before and after the electrocoagulation process. Abstract

This study aimed to describe the appearance of the KIT making, how to use the KIT, and the validation test results for the making of a simple LED spectrophotometer for the analysis of iron metal ions in water. The method used was Design Based Research. This method refers to the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. However, researchers only used the model until the development stage, starting from collecting references (journals), making concept analysis, concept maps, flowcharts, and storyboards, and the validation test of the three validators. The results from the KIT development stage could be carried out well, resulting in a valid product with indicators that include an attractive display of the KIT, easy to use, low cost, and KIT made of safe materials. The results of the validation test obtained an average value of 0.83, greater than the critical value of 0.30. This shows that the simple LED spectrophotmeter experiment KIT is valid for a feasibility test. In learning, the use of KIT refers to the spectrophotometric material which is based on the Lambert-Beer law and the analysis results that will be produced are in the form of a comparison curve of normal intensity with a wavelength in units of nanometers (nm).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to enhance students’ science literacy through a discussion-based contextual approach in the learning of the human reproductive system. This quantitative research employed an experimental method with a quasi-experimental posttest-only design. The study involved 60 students, with 30 students each in class XI MIPA 4 serving as the experimental group and class XI MIPA 5 serving as the control group. The control group received instruction through a conceptual approach-based lecture method, whereas the experimental group engaged in learning through a contextual approach-based discussion method. The research instrument comprised 10 open-ended science literacy questions pertaining to the human reproductive system. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test with SPSS version 26. The results indicated that the data were both normally distributed and homogeneous. Furthermore, a significant difference was observed between the control and experimental groups, with a t-count value of 4.118, which is greater than the t-table value of 1.671. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that the human reproductive system can be effectively taught through contextual experiences relevant to students’ lives, thereby enhancing their science literacy skills.DOI: 10.17977/jps.v12i22024p071

Abstract

Abstract

This research explores the potential of interactive educational games as a tool to enhance environmental literacy, with a specific focus on water pollution issues. The study introduces a designed game encompassing various interactive modules, such as word games, drag-and-drop tasks, multiple-choice questions, evaluations, and an environmental literacy survey. The validation test was carried out by three validators consisting of material expert lecturers and media experts. The average rcount value for validation test results across material aspects, language aspects, and display (media) aspects was calculated as follows: 0.85, 0.92, and 0.84, resulting in an overall rcount value of 0.87. This overall value signifies high validity and strong interpretational significance. Furthermore, the feasibility test was carried out on 15 chemistry education students who had taken environmental chemistry courses. The average rcount of the feasibility test results from all aspects obtained a percentage value of 87%. This study highlights the importance of game design, evaluating long-term impacts, and integrating interactive games into educational curricula.
