Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of language as humanity’s primary means of communication one that not only conveys information but also shapes ways of thinking, culture, and social understanding as well as the growing development of language technology innovations alongside the advancement of digitalization in Indonesia. The objective of this study is to comprehensively examine the concept of language, as well as the development and implementation of language technology in supporting digital transformation across various sectors. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach involving a literature review through the analysis of journals, books, and related scientific sources, which are then analyzed using content analysis and source triangulation techniques to ensure data accuracy. The research findings indicate that language technologies, such as natural language processing, speech recognition, and machine translation, have experienced rapid development since 2020 and have made significant contributions in the fields of education, industry, and public services, although they still face challenges such as corpus limitations and linguistic diversity. In conclusion, language plays a fundamental role in human life and is supported by language technologies capable of enhancing efficiency, improving access to information, and driving digital transformation; therefore, sustained research support and cross-sector collaboration are necessary to ensure its development remains optimal and relevant to societal needs.

Abstract

Reading comprehension has been extensively examined in elementary education research; however, studies that specifically explore the reading comprehension processes of third-grade students in madrasah ibtidaiyah using a qualitative approach remain limited. This study aimed to describe the reading comprehension skills of third-grade students at MI Padangsidimpuan Angkola Julu, identify variations in their proficiency levels, and uncover the obstacles they experience in understanding texts. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving 21 third-grade students, of whom 8 were selected as focal subjects for in-depth analysis through purposive sampling. Data were collected using reading comprehension tests, semi-structured interviews, and observation, and were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate a range of reading comprehension ability from very good to low, with major difficulties observed in identifying main ideas, drawing conclusions, and articulating the moral message of the text. These results reinforce the understanding that reading comprehension is a complex and contextual cognitive process and underscore the importance of process-oriented reading instruction in madrasah ibtidaiyah to support students in developing more optimal text comprehension skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of family education management in supporting children's educational success, particularly in the Pasar Muara Sipongi Village, Muara Sipongi District, Mandailing Natal Regency. Many families in this area have not yet optimized the management of their children's education at home, as evidenced by the lack of parental involvement in their children's learning processes. The aim of this study is to analyze how the planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling of family education management occurs in this region. The method used is qualitative research, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation from six parents with children in elementary and junior high school. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that long-term educational planning has not yet become a primary priority for families; the organization of children's learning activities is poorly structured; the implementation of education remains passive and simplistic; and the control of learning activities is more reactive than preventive. Additionally, parental involvement in evaluating their children's educational processes is still minimal. In conclusion, family education management in this area needs to be improved to support the optimal development of children.
