Abstract

Road maintenance planning can be optimized by identifying the road’s performance in the next period. Bina Marga Jawa Tengah, who is responsible for roads and bridges performance in the province of Jawa Tengah releases data containing every road section’s condition status along with the length of each section, Annual Average Daily Traffic volume with the volume of each type of vehicle that passed on every road section. The data also contains every section type of pavement along with the length of each type of pavement on every road section. Using this secondary data, this research aimed to predict the length of 83 road sections that fell into the category of Light Damage from 2019 to 2024, the predictions are for 2025 and 2026. The projections are 53.04 KM and 47.88 KM for 2025 and 2026, respectively. The investigation of the most influencing factor in the ‘Light Damage’ road category could not perform very well as we lack the schedule and type of maintenance data. The lack of such data yielded a very low R2 (mostly less than 0.3) as the lack of such data made the existing data irrelevant.

Abstract

Abstract

Safety is the most important aspect of a road to consider. Road safety means the road is in good condition for a vehicle to pass on. Maintenance and reconstruction are the two means that should be performed to preserve road performance and safety. Bina Marga Semarang, as the road administrator, uses Surface Distress Index (SDI) data to determine the appropriate maintenance/reconstruction (M/R) work on a road within the road network in Semarang. The SDI method gives a score based on each road segment condition; the lower the score, the better the road condition, which means the less road damage. This research aimed to allocate resources based on the risk inherent in each road section. SDI in 2024 and Average Daily Traffic (ADT) data in 2023 were used to quantify the risk magnitude of each road section in the Kecamatan Tugu, Semarang road network. The maintenance/reconstruction cost of each segment was also calculated to determine the road M/R cost. Road segments were then ranked based on the risk magnitude and M/R cost. The result showed that JL. Stasiun Jrakah was the riskiest road, but held the 7th position in M/R cost.

Abstract

Stick exercise training is a form of community fitness intervention aimed at improving motor skills, particularly among adults. This community service activity was carried out in RW 06, Kalibanteng Kulon Village, involving 20 participants, mostly women. The method used was direct training through a participatory approach, beginning with problem identification, followed by a pre-test, stick exercise session, and post-test. The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants’ motor understanding and skills, with scores increasing from 52% in the pre-test to 82% in the post-test. The 30% increase indicates the effectiveness of training methods using simple equipment like sticks. This program not only provides physical benefits but also encourages active community participation in fun, accessible, and healthy activities. Stick exercise training has proven to be an appropriate educational and preventive medium for sustainably developing motor capacity within the community.

Abstract

This study examines traffic noise levels in the environment of SMP Mardisiswa 2 Semarang, focusing on variations in sound intensity caused by motor vehicles at different times of the day. The background of this research is the increasing concern over environmental noise pollution and its negative impact on students’ health and learning activities. The objective of this study is to analyze the sound intensity levels during morning, midday, and afternoon periods using a smartphone-based Sound Level Meter (SLM) application. The research employed a quantitative method, involving field measurements at 5-second intervals over a 10-minute duration for each time period. The collected data were then averaged and analyzed to identify temporal patterns. The results indicate that the highest average noise level occurs in the afternoon (75.286 dB), followed by the morning (74.674 dB), while the lowest occurs at midday (72.956 dB). These findings suggest that traffic volume significantly influences environmental noise levels, particularly during peak activity hours. The implication of this study highlights the need for noise mitigation strategies in school environments, such as vegetation barriers or spatial planning, to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere
