Abstract

Title: Business Model Transformation  Using the Business Model Canvas at PT Bintang Megah Jaya Perkasa to Enhance Export Competitiveness in the Fisheries SectorThe revenue decline experienced by PT Bintang Megah Jaya Perkasa (PT BMJP) following the enactment  of new export  regulations underscores the necessity for a strategic restructuring  of its business model. This study aims to identify structural  weaknesses and develop a more adaptive and competitive business model using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) framework. The BMC approach analyzes nine core components of business models: key partners, key activities, value propositions,  customer  relationships,  customer  segments,  key resources, channels,  cost structure,   and revenue streams. A qualitative  methodology was employed, incorporating in-depth  interviews, direct observations, focus group discussions (FGDs), and internal document reviews. The analysis indicates that improvements are particularly needed in value propositions, customer segmentation,  and partnership  strategies. The proposed restructuring  strategy includes strengthening  supply partnerships with local fishers, expanding  into high-demand  markets such as Japan and Malaysia, and optimizing  digital distribution channels. The findings contribute to enhancing the resilience and competitiveness of PT BMJP and  offer valuable  lessons that can be adopted  by other fisheries enterprises in designing resilient and adaptive business models capable of addressing the evolving challenges of global export  markets.

Abstract

Efforts to increase production were carried out by applying artificial insemination methods, known as Artificial Insemination (AI). The standard for AI success is indicated by the S/C value. In Pamekasan Regency, the average S/C value was 2.8, which means that more than two, and even close to three, artificial insemination processes were required to achieve pregnancy. This value is still higher than the S/C standard, which is between 1.6 and 2.0. One of the reasons for this high S/C value is the low ability of farmers to detect oestrus and determine the right time for mating/AI. The problem faced by farmers in the ‘Sumber Mulyo’ Farmer Group is the lack of understanding or knowledge of farmers regarding the oestrus period of their livestock and the right time to mate their livestock. The community service activities will be carried out from August to October 2025. The methods to be used in this community service activity are (1) extension/socialisation, (2) demonstration/hands-on practice, (3) training, (4) discussion/question and answer session. These methods will be carried out in conjunction with the extension/socialisation, where the question and answer session will be used to evaluate the farmers' understanding of the material presented. This community service activity was attended by 30 farmers from the ‘Sumber Mulyo’ farmer group in Panagguan Village, Larangan Subdistrict, Pamekasan Regency. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding after attending the socialisation and assistance with oestrus detection. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, the average comprehension score increased from 1.15 to 1.96, or an increase of 0.81 points. The highest increase occurred in the indicator ‘timely oestrus detection can affect livestock productivity’ with a difference of 0.87 points, followed by understanding of ‘the oestrus cycle in cows’ by 0.83 points. These findings indicate that learning methods involving direct practice in the field are effective in improving farmers' ability to recognise signs of oestrus and determine the optimal mating time. Through these socialisation and mentoring activities, it has been proven to significantly improve farmers' understanding (p < 0.01), thereby potentially increasing reproductive success and livestock productivity.

Abstract

Local maize serves as a vital source of both food security and household income across various regions of Indonesia, particularly in Sumenep, Madura. However, efforts to sustain agricultural livelihoods are increasingly challenged by a range of risks. One of the most pressing issues is the growing prevalence of hybrid maize cultivation in Madura, which has adversely affected local farmers who continue to grow traditional maize varieties to meet their subsistence needs. Given these challenges, farmers need to develop and implement strategic responses by leveraging their available livelihood assets in order to mitigate risks and adopt adaptation strategies suited to their specific context. This study aims to develop a risk management and adaptation framework for maize farmers in the Guluk-Guluk area of Madura, taking into account their livelihood assets. The research was conducted in Guluk-Guluk, a location purposively selected based on regional differences in maize productivity. The study took place from October 2023 to March 2024 and involved 51 local maize farmers selected via random sampling with a 1% margin of error. The study assessed several forms of farmers' resources, including labor capacity, material assets, community networks, environmental conditions, and economic means, along with their adjustment practices, such as diversifying activities and modifying planting timelines. Risk variables included technological and natural risks. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The findings indicate that the resources supporting farmers' livelihoods play a meaningful and beneficial role in shaping how corn growers in the area manage risks and adjust their practices. The findings also indicate that the most commonly adopted adaptation strategy is diversification. Technological risk emerged as the most significant risk faced by farmers, while financial capital was found to be the most influential asset in supporting risk response and adaptation efforts.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the implementation of Sharia values on customer satisfaction and word of mouth (WOM) in Sharia-compliant hotels in City X. The research uses a quantitative approach with purposive random sampling, gathering data from 100 customers of Sharia hotels. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to analyze the relationships between Sharia values, customer satisfaction, and WOM. The findings indicate that the application of Sharia values positively influences customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction in turn has a significant effect on WOM. Furthermore, customer satisfaction is found to mediate the relationship between the implementation of Sharia values and WOM. These results underscore the importance of aligning hotel services with Sharia principles to enhance customer satisfaction and foster positive WOM. The study offers practical insights for Sharia-compliant hotels to improve service quality and build stronger customer loyalty.
