Abstract

Community empowerment begins with understanding that every individual and group has potential and abilities that can be developed. In Mamuju Regency, precisely in Tommo District, there is peat but it is small which if damaged and not managed properly will result in land fires, floods, and soil pollution. This assistance aims to position the community as a party that plays an active role in environmental recovery. One of the initial stages of assistance or empowerment activities carried out is Problem Identification and Situation Analysis. It is hoped that the problems faced can be clearly identified, the related situation can be analyzed comprehensively, and the next steps can be designed to plan effective and sustainable interventions. Strengthening the understanding of problem identification and location analysis is carried out using the IMAS tool through survey methods, interviews, and FGDs. The results of problem identification and situation analysis found several problems that can be used as references in formulating systematic and effective planning for community empowerment. Based on the results of the problem identification and situation analysis in Buana Sakti Village, Tamemongga Village, Tamejarra Village, West Leling Village and North Leling Village, problems were found in flooding, lack of fertilizer availability and the distance of the village from the city which makes it difficult to get fresh fish to meet the protein needs of the community. From the results of the problem identification and situation analysis, a Community Work Plan formulation was formed such as freshwater fish farming, long-term crop planting, horticultural planting, and livestock farming. The proposed work plan is expected to be able to help the community in meeting needs, improving the community's economy, and can answer problems that occur in each village.

Abstract

Jewawut (Setaria italica (L.) P. Beauv.) merupakan tanaman serealia minor dengan potensi strategis untuk ketahanan pangan dan diversifikasi nutrisi di era perubahan iklim. Meskipun Indonesia sebagai negara megabiodiversitas memiliki plasma nutfah jewawut yang beragam, keragaman genetik aksesi lokal masih belum terdokumentasi secara komprehensif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis keragaman genetik 11 aksesi jewawut Indonesia menggunakan 18 penanda mikrosatelit (SSR) yang tersebar pada 9 kromosom. DNA diekstraksi dari daun muda, diamplifikasi dengan PCR, dan dianalisis menggunakan elektroforesis poliakrilamida 8%. Kandungan informasi polimorfik (PIC) dihitung menggunakan formula Nei, analisis klaster dilakukan dengan metode UPGMA (NTSYS-pc 2.1), dan analisis kofenetik menggunakan Winboot. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat polimorfisme yang sangat tinggi dengan nilai PIC rata-rata 0,79 (berkisar 0,67–0,99), dengan 83,3% penanda sangat informatif (PIC > 0,5). Koefisien kesamaan genetik berkisar 0,54–0,74, menghasilkan dua klaster utama: Klaster I (4 aksesi) dan Klaster II (7 aksesi). Jarak genetik antaraksesi berkisar 0,26–0,55, dengan pasangan terdekat TRSLB-WKNTK (0,26) dan terjauh TRBLW-TRSLB (0,55). Pola pengelompokan tidak sepenuhnya mengikuti asal geografis, mengindikasikan bahwa seleksi petani lokal dan adaptasi lingkungan lebih dominan membentuk struktur genetik. Aksesi TRSLB menunjukkan keunikan genetik tinggi sebagai sumber gen potensial. Keragaman genetik yang tinggi ini menyediakan peluang signifikan untuk pembentukan hibrida lokal adaptif, konservasi plasma nutfah berkelanjutan, dan program pemuliaan terarah yang mendukung diversifikasi pangan dan ketahanan pangan nasional.

Abstract

This study examines unequal value capture within the pine resin value chain as a locally important non-timber forest product (NTFP) in rural Indonesia (Sasaka Village, West Sulawesi Province). Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected through field observations, interviews, and a census of 33 active resin tappers, complemented by information from intermediaries and processing industries. The analysis identifies three main marketing channels involving farmers, intermediaries, and a processing industry that transforms raw resin into higher-value products, namely rosin (gondorukem) and turpentine. Results show that both marketing and profit margins are highly uneven across the value chain. While farmers receive a stable price of IDR 10,000/kg, the processing industry captures the largest share of value, with margins reaching IDR 13,000/kg for rosin and IDR 63,000/kg for turpentine. Profit margins are similarly concentrated at the industrial level, particularly for turpentine (IDR 60,288/kg), reflecting economies of scale, processing capacity, and access to export markets. These findings demonstrate clear unequal value capture within the pine resin value chain, where upstream actors receive a relatively small share of the total economic benefits despite their critical role in production. This pattern indicates structural inefficiencies and imbalances in the marketing system. Strengthening farmer bargaining power, improving access to processing technologies, and promoting more equitable market linkages are essential to enhance inclusiveness and ensure the long-term sustainability of NTFP-based livelihoods.

Abstract

Betteng Village is recognized as one of the centers of traditional household-scale palm sugar production. However, the development of this industry has not yet been optimal, as it faces various complex challenges, resulting in relatively slow progress. This study aims to determine alternative strategies for the development of household palm sugar industries in Betteng Village, Pamboang District, Majene Regency. The research method employed surveys, interviews, questionnaires, and literature studies. Data were analyzed using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and FAHP (Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process). The analysis results indicate that the value obtained from the IFE matrix is 2.543, while the value of the EFE matrix is 2.599. The household palm sugar industry in Betteng Village is positioned in cell V, which reflects an average condition both internally and externally; therefore, the appropriate strategy is hold and maintain. Based on the SWOT analysis, 13 alternative strategies were formulated. The five main priority strategies for development are: enhancing palm sugar production capacity, creating secondary packaging accompanied by attractive and informative packaging design, providing entrepreneurship training for artisans, developing product diversification of palm sugar, and expanding marketing distribution channels through both offline and online platforms.
