Abstract

East Java with 41.8 million people is the province that sends the highest number of migrant workers, especially from Malang, Bojonegoro, Lamongan, Kediri, and Ponorogo. Although female migrant workers contribute IDR 251.1 trillion in remittances (2024), they still face various social and spiritual problems. This study aims to analyze the welfare of female migrant workers from the perspective of Maqashid Syariah by reviewing the fulfillment of the five main dimensions of Hifdz ad-Din, Hifdz an-Nafs, Hifdz al-'Aql, Hifdz an-Nasab, and Hifdz al-Maal. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a comparative approach to understand the dynamics of the welfare of female migrant workers in four purposively selected districts, namely Ponorogo, Kediri, and Malang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews (including video calls for overseas informants), participatory observation, and documentation analysis. Data sources include migrant and ex-migrant workers, employees of the Manpower Office, lecturers, university LPPM teams, and written documents as secondary data. Data analysis uses the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification at two levels of single case analysis and cross-case analysis. The results of the study show that the welfare of female migrant workers is only fulfilled in two aspects, namely Hifdz al-Maal (maintenance of property) and Hifdz al-'Aql (maintenance of reason). The other three aspects of Hifdz an-Nafs, Hifdz an-Nasab, and Hifdz ad-Din have not been fulfilled optimally and require serious attention through policies that are gender justice and based on maqashid values. The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive analysis of the portrait of the welfare of female migrant workers using the concept of Maqashid Syariah Ash-Syatibi, which not only emphasizes economic aspects, but also the dimensions of education, family, security, and religious compliance.

Abstract

The issue of poverty is a major topic of discussion on sustainable development in Indonesia. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the poor population was at 9.57 percent or equivalent to 26.36 million people. Another problem is the high unemployment rate. According to BPS, the percentage of open unemployment rate (TPT) reached 5.45 percent. Low level of education is one of the causes of the problem. In addition, employment is not proportional to the population. Skills of individuals and society need to be improved. One of the containers as a place of empowerment is the Reading GardenCommunity (TBM). Of the many TBMs in Indonesia, they tend to focus on empowerment programs in the field of education. This study analyzes the implementation of empowerment programs at Rumah Baca Sang Petualang in Wonogiri and its impact on the welfare of the local community. A qualitative approach was used in this study to explore information related to the integration of empowerment programs and involvement from various parties who play a role in it. The source of this research is from interviews with founders, administrators, members and communities who are part of the empowerment process. The results of this study, the integration of empowerment programs used is a combination of empowerment programs in the field of education, empowerment of small and medium enterprises, empowerment in the field of animal husbandry and empowerment in the field of handicraft business. The integration of applied programs has supporting and inhibiting factors. The supporting factors in question are the role of the government, the role of the private sector and supporting regulations. The inhibiting factors are public awareness, limited infrastructure and limited resources. The impact of integrating empowerment programs can change people's mindsets, create non-formal education, create business opportunities, increase community income and reduce negative environmental impacts. Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of community-based management of Sentono Genthong Tourism, which has positively contributed to the transformation of the village from underdeveloped to advanced status, as well as creating employment opportunities in the tourism sector. However, there are emerging dynamics, such as dating activities within the religious tourism area, which raise concerns due to their contradiction with the principle of protecting lineage (ḥifẓ al-nasl) in maqāṣid sharī‘ah. This study is field research using a qualitative approach conducted at Sentono Genthong Tourism in 2023. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation and validated using source, method, and time triangulation. The data analysis was conducted inductively through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that, in general, tourism management has fulfilled the principles of community-based tourism, although there are still shortcomings in the aspect of cross-cultural learning. Seven out of eleven principles of community-based tourism are closely aligned with maqāṣid sharī‘ah, particularly in the elements of protecting religion (ḥifẓ al-dīn), intellect (ḥifẓ al-ʿaql), life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), and wealth (ḥifẓ al-māl). However, the aspect of protecting lineage has not been optimally achieved. In conclusion, while tourism management has been effective and aligns with Sharia principles in several elements, there is a need to strengthen social supervision and visitor education to uphold religious values in this sacred tourism site.

This research uses quantitative methods. The samples taken were 100 respondents. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire. The data obtained was then processed using the SPPS 22 application. The analysis techniques used were instrument testing, classical assumption testing, simple linear regression model testing, multiple linear regression, and moderated regression analysis. The results of the research show that partially risk perception has a significant negative effect on interest and trust has a positive and significant effect on interest in using LinkAja Syariah in generation z in Madiun Residency. Based on a simultaneous test, risk perception and trust influence interest in using LinkAja Syariah among generation z in Madiun Residency. Religiosity does not moderate the risk perception of interest. And religiosity does not moderate trust in interest in using LinkAja Syariah payments among generation z in Madiun Residency.

Abstract

Background/Introduction: In Indonesia, halal certification functions as an important instrument for ensuring that products comply with sharia principles, particularly in a Muslim-majority society. In Madiun Regency, where the Muslim population is overwhelmingly dominant, Brem Suling Istimewa remains a widely consumed traditional product despite the absence of halal certification. This situation raises an important scholarly issue concerning the persistence of consumer trust in products without halal labels, even though sharia compliance is considered a significant aspect of Muslim consumption behavior. Research Objectives: This study aims to: (1) examine the level of consumer trust in Brem Suling Istimewa Madiun without halal certification; (2) analyze such trust from the perspective of sharia compliance; and (3) identify the strategies undertaken by producers to participate in the halal certification program. Methodology: This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research involved producers and consumers selected purposively based on their relevance to the research problem. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation of the production process, and document analysis. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the findings was strengthened through source and method triangulation. Results: The findings indicate that consumer trust is shaped by three principal factors: consistent product quality, the producer’s reputation and long-standing relationship with retailers, and confidence in the traditional production process. Nevertheless, the absence of halal certification creates syubhat, particularly among consumers with a stronger orientation toward sharia compliance, mainly due to concerns regarding alcohol content resulting from fermentation. Producers have demonstrated commitment to halal certification through routine alcohol testing, the preparation of hygiene-related standard operating procedures, and cooperation with halal raw material suppliers. Unique Contribution: This study contributes to the literature on sharia economics by integrating consumer trust and sharia compliance perspectives in the context of traditional local fermented products. Conclusion: Halal certification is essential for strengthening Muslim consumer trust and ensuring product compliance with sharia principles. Recommendations: urther efforts are needed to provide mentoring for MSME producers in the certification process and to enhance public awareness of the importance of halal labeling.
