Abstract

Abstract

This literature review critically examines teaching practices that ignore diagnostic assessment results for student learning types. The study analyzed 20 research articles to identify the current state of diagnostic assessment implementation in differentiated learning, the pedagogical impacts of neglecting diagnostic assessment results, and conceptual recommendations for optimizing the integration of assessment results in differentiated instruction. The findings reveal varying stages of teachers’ conceptual understanding and implementation skills, with a significant gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Neglecting diagnostic assessment results negatively impacts learning effectiveness, motivation, and student achievement. Diagnostic assessment serves as the foundation for differentiated learning by mapping students’ learning readiness, interests, and learning style profiles. The study recommends developing adaptive learning media that systematically integrate diagnostic assessment results into differentiated instructional strategies. This innovative approach has the potential to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and equity of learning while supporting the vision of student-centered education in the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) curriculum. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the relationship between diagnostic assessment and differentiated instruction and offers practical directions for future educational practices oriented towards individual learners’ needs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the STAD type of Cooperative Learning model in Physical Education learning on mini volleyball material at SMP Negeri 17 Makassar. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest model involving 20 students as a sample. The research instruments included a mini volleyball basic technique skills test, an active participation observation sheet, and a learning motivation questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in three main variables. First, basic technique skills experienced an average increase from 52.6 to 71.7 after the implementation of the STAD model. Second, student active participation increased by 31%, indicating that cooperative learning encourages positive engagement and interaction between group members. Third, student learning motivation increased by 30.1%, indicating that group rewards, cooperation, and a pleasant learning atmosphere can increase students' intrinsic motivation to participate in learning. Statistical tests showed that all of these increases were significant (p < 0.05). These findings confirm that the STAD model is effective in physical education (PJOK) learning, particularly in games that require cooperation, such as mini volleyball. The study recommends broader implementation of this model in schools and the use of more robust experimental designs in future research.

Abstract

Introduction: Regular physical exercise offers substantial benefits to cardiovascular health by improving aerobic capacity, cardiac efficiency, and reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, excessive or unregulated training may lead to maladaptive cardiac remodeling and increase the risk of arrhythmias or sudden cardiac death. Understanding the physiological boundaries of exercise-induced cardiac adaptation is therefore crucial for promoting safe and effective athletic performance. Methods: This scoping review followed a systematic protocol based on the PEOS framework (Population, Exposure, Outcome, Study Design). Literature searches were conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and Google Scholar for studies published between 2000 and 2024 using relevant keywords on cardiac responses to exercise. Inclusion criteria covered original research and reviews focusing on cardiac adaptation, remodeling, and training intensity among athletes. From an initial 512 records, 20 eligible studies were critically appraised and synthesized using a narrative approach. Results: Endurance training predominantly induced eccentric hypertrophy and increased left and right ventricular volumes without systolic dysfunction, while resistance training produced concentric hypertrophy due to higher pressure load. These structural adaptations were physiological, reversible, and not associated with fibrosis. Conversely, extreme endurance activities were linked to transient cardiac fatigue and elevated cardiac biomarkers. Detraining studies confirmed regression of cardiac mass, highlighting the reversible nature of physiological remodeling. Conclusion: Cardiac responses to exercise depend on training intensity, duration, and type. Physiological remodeling enhances cardiovascular function, whereas excessive training or genetic predispositions may lead to pathological consequences. Balancing load and recovery, alongside periodic medical evaluation, is essential to optimize performance and prevent cardiovascular complications.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the mental readiness of tennis athletes from Pangkajene and Kepulauan Regency through an experiential learning-based self-talk training. Although the athletes possessed good technical skills, they still struggled to manage emotions, maintain focus, and cope with competitive pressure. The activity was carried out in two main stages: a socialization session emphasizing the importance of mental strengthening, and a self-talk training conducted through a competitive group game requiring participants to communicate only with positive words. Post-activity reflections revealed that the athletes developed greater awareness of the importance of focusing on their own abilities, maintaining composure in critical situations, and using positive communication within the team. The direct experiential approach helped them understand how positive thinking and language directly influence concentration and coordination. This training effectively fostered self-awareness, emotional regulation, and focus control, providing a practical, psychology-based mental development model that can be applied to the training of young athletes at the regional level.
