Abstract

The cumulative impact of stunting is longterm malnutrition and recurrent infections in early childhood, especially occurring in the first 1000 days of life. This is defined as a child's height not appropriate for his actual age or a child who has of Z Score of the height body for the age >-2 standard deviations. This research uses descriptive analysis with a cross sectional study design. The total population is 1082 heads of families. The sample in this study was 292 heads of families obtained from sample calculations using the Slovin formula (alpha 0.05). Based on the results of descriptive analysis on the knowledge variable regarding stunting, it can be concluded that 147 people (50.3%) unknow about stunting, while 145 people (49.7%) know about stunting. Then in the overall stunting score column from the analysis results it was found that 182 people (62.3%) had good knowledge of stunting and 110 people (37.7%) were in the poor category. For the information source variable, it was found that 138 people (47.3%) received stunting information from health workers/cadres, 65 people from the mass media (22.3%), 64 people (21.9%) from other people. and family/parents as many as 25 people (8.6%). So it can be concluded that community knowledge and sources of information regarding stunting still need to be improved. It is hoped that there will be community involvement and collaboration with health workers, community leaders, religious leaders in efforts to increase knowledge about stunting in Galala Village.

Abstract

Stunting, or below-standard height, is a nutritional problem commonly found in developing countries. Stunting negatively impacts growth, development, and productivity. It can increase the risk of infectious diseases, chronic diseases, and death, which will subsequently reduce work productivity in adulthood. Children who cannot catch up on growth later on can cause bigger problems, and in the future, Indonesia may experience a lost generation. Method: This study uses a descriptive-analytical method with a cross-sectional research design. The population consisted of all mothers with toddlers aged 0-59 months in 2021, totaling 520 toddlers, while the sample included 99 mothers of toddlers. Data collection on toddlers was conducted by measuring body length/height with a microtoise BB to determine stunting status and using a questionnaire. The research results were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. Results: Specific nutrition interventions, when viewed from the PMT variable (0.035), IMD counseling and exclusive breastfeeding (0.001), vitamin A capsule administration (0.022), and immunization (0.036), are related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Meanwhile, sensitive nutrition interventions, when viewed from the information variable (0.030) about stunting, are related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers. Conclusion: Preventing stunting requires appropriate handling through both specific and sensitive nutritional interventions together. The research results indicate that there are 5 variables related to the occurrence of stunting in toddlers, including PMT, IMD counseling and exclusive breastfeeding, administration of vitamin A capsules, immunization, and provision of information about stunting.

Abstract

To ensure that the school environment remains healthy and students have healthy lifestyles, school environment inspections are necessary. According to the law, every child in Indonesia is entitled to a healthy, safe, and comfortable school environment. The goal of school health is to ensure that students' life skills can be enhanced in a healthy environment, where they can learn comfortably and grow optimally to become high-quality individuals. This community service aims to identify environmental sanitation risks in public facilities, particularly schools. The method used was direct observation of the school's condition using the previously prepared IKL form, followed by interviews with relevant parties to reinforce the findings. The results still found several schools with conditions that do not meet health standards. It is hoped that with the implementation of school environmental health inspections, the school authorities will improve in providing adequate school facilities to realize a healthy school. Abstract

Introduction: Therapy for diabetic neuropathy pain has not been able to provide a significant effect for patients so that the side effects of pain complaints affect the quality of work and social life of type 2 DM patients at Bhayangkara Watukosek Hospital. The aim of this study was to determine whether stress levels can influence the incidence of diabetic neuropathy pain at Bhayangkara Watukosek Hospital. Method: The research is analytical in nature with Odds Ratio (OR) calculations to test hypotheses. The research population was 250 type 2 DM patients with a sample of 40 respondents taken at simple random. The variables consist of the incidence of diabetic neuropathy pain as the dependent variable, and stress level as the independent variable. Result: the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of NND in type 2 DM patients at Bhayangkara Watukosek Hospital produced an odds ratio of 3 (OR > 1). Conclusion: respondents who experienced stress were 3 times more likely to experience NND than respondents who were not stressed. To reduce or suppress the incidence of NND, people who suffer from type 2 DM and are aged ≥50 years should have regular check-ups at the hospital to prevent NND. For the management of Bhayangkara Watukosek Hospital, it is recommended to carry out a mentoring program for type 2 DM patients who are ≥50 years old because many respondents who suffer from NND and experience stress are ≥50 years old.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of low birth weight babies (LBW) is important because it is an indicator to measure a child's health status, and until now it is still one of the health problems generally faced by developing countries, including Indonesia. One of the risk factors for LBW is the level of hemoglobin (Hb). Hemoglobin is a parameter that is widely used to determine the prevalence of anemia. Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between hemoglobin levels of pregnant women and the incidence of low birth weight babies. Method: The research method used a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 49 respondents who were taken by simple random sampling method after fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria at the Ngegong, Mangunharjo and Demangan Health Centers, Madiun City. Result: Data obtained through the patient's medical record. Data analysis in this study using the Chi Square test obtained a p- value of 0.02 <0.05 and OR = 0.75. Conclusion: So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between low hemoglobin levels and the incidence of low birth weight, where low hemoglobin levels have a 0.75 times higher risk of experiencing LBW. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient value of 0.445 indicates the strength of the relationship between these two variables in the moderate category.

Abstract

Teenagehood is a vulnerable period for nutritional problems, especially anemia (a condition where the number of red blood cells is below standard). According to the Riskesdas (2018), the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls is 27.2%, while in adolescent boys, it is 20.3%. Data from the North Maluku Health Office for adolescent girls in Ternate City identified a 20.11% prevalence of anemia. This Community Service activity aims to educate teenage students about the importance of avoiding anemia. Nutritional education is provided using lecture methods, conducting pre and post-tests, and measuring nutritional status. There were 36 junior high school students participating in this activity, representing each public and private junior high school in Ternate City. After the lecture, it was found that the average knowledge score of the students increased from 5.18 before the lecture to 6.26 after the lecture, indicating that nutritional education on anemia using the lecture method is quite effective in improving participants' knowledge. With increased knowledge, it is hoped that students can improve their behavior in preventing anemia by consuming iron-rich foods and regularly taking iron tablets
