Abstract

Teaching speaking is an important part of language learning so that the English teacher should use some strategies to improve the students’ speaking skill. At the tenth grade of MA AL-ABROR Blumbungan Pamekasan, the English teacher used questioning strategy to encourage the students to be better in speaking.That is why the researchers want to describe the phenomena further in the research entitled the implementation of questioning strategy in teaching speaking for the tenth grade in MA AL-ABROR Blumbungan Pamekasan. The aim of this research was to find out how was the implementation of questioning strategy for the tenth grade in MA AL-ABROR Blumbungan Pamekasan, what types of the question were used by the teacher in the implementation of questioning strategy for the tenth grade in MA AL-ABROR Blumbungan Pamekasan,and how did the responses of thestudents in the implementation of questioning strategy for the tenth grade in MA AL-ABROR Blumbungan Pamekasan. The instruments used by the researchers answer observation, interview and documentation in collecting the data.The results were 1. the teacher used questioning strategy by using some steps in teaching speaking, the first step is deciding the topic related with the students’ environment, then He give some vocabullaries related to the topic. Then teacher choose some students who have low ability and medium or high ability in speaking to treat them in giving them both the convergent questions and divergent questions. The last The teacher use increasing wait-time when the students need time to think about the questions, 2.The teacher used convergent and divergent questions, it was done to make the students have better understanding in speaking and the students can be easy in answering the question given by the teacher. 3. The student’s responses in implementing of questioning strategy are various , they were comfort, nervous, afraid but They could enjoy it because the topic relate with their environment

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether using a Fly Swatter Game may aid kids in developing their vocabulary. Classroom Action Research was used to perform this study. The students in this study were from MTs Nahdlatut Thullab's seventh grade, which had a total of 24 students. Two cycles of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting were used in this study. The information was acquired using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Analyzing the interview and observation results yielded qualitative data. The students' pre-test and post-test vocabulary scores were then used to generate data of quantitative. Based on the findings of this research, students' vocabulary mastery improved, as shown by the mean pretest score of 53.6, the mean post-test 1 score of 66, and the mean post-test cycle 2 score of 83.6. In addition, four students (16.6%) passed the Minimum Mastery Criteria (Kritieria Ketuntasan Minimal) on the pretest (KKM). Meanwhile, 9 students (37.5%) passed (KKM) in cycle 1, and 18 students (75%) passed (KKM) in cycle 2. It indicates that the success conditions were met. Additionally, the results of the interview and observation showed that when the fly swatter game was played, the students were engaged in the teaching-learning process. Abstract

This research was conducted using a classroom action research design through two cycles. The purpose of the study is to know how Guided WH-Questions technique are able to increase the  speaking skill of the students at Junior High School. The research was conducted at SMP Al-Islamiyah Teja Barat Pamekasan. It is limited only at the first grade and the class consists of 19 students. The data was collected through observation sheet, field notes, the students’ test and questionnaire. In data analysis, the researcher utilized descriptive quantitative. The data from the outcome of observation and the students’ test are analyzed utilizing statistic analysis. The findings showed that the students’ involvement in learning process indicated the success of the teaching and learning if in the cycle 1 of meeting 1 was 77% and meeting 2 was 85,7%. Then. In second cycle of meeting 1 the students’ involvement improved to be 91, 4% and  meeting 2 was 97%. The refinement was seen from the advance of the students’ average speaking points. In preliminary study, the students’ speaking average score was 54, 8. It improved to be 71 in the cycle 1 and 82 in the cycle 2. While the students’ outcome of the questionnaire showed the students were fascinated and enjoyed in studying speaking through Guided WH-Question.

Abstract

This study aims to find out and analyze students' mistakes in writing narrative text and what causes these mistakes. The method used in this research is a qualitative research design with a case study method by applying descriptive analysis. In this study, the object being analyzed was the subject-verb agreement error in writing narrative text in class XI IPA 2 of the tenth grade of  MA Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan. The problem of this research is to find the types of errors that commonly, the causes of errors, and the frequency of errors that students made in using subject-verb agreement in writing narrative text. The errors are classified into four primary groups based on the surface strategy taxonomy of superficial strategies cited by (Irwansyah,2017): omission, addition, misformation, and misordering errors. The researcher found those errors in the students' work in writing narrative text. It can be seen that each student made one to three errors, which are omission, addition, and misformation errors. From the results of the frequency of omission errors 53%, 39% addition errors, 7% misformation errors, and 0% misordering errors. errors that are often made by students, namely the 53% omission error has a higher percentage than the errors that occur in other types. Based on the results of this research, the researcher hopes that it will become important data for the language community, especially those who are interested in analyzing errors in English lessons. This research is expected to increase the reader's knowledge about good sentence patterns in the structure of the English language.   Keywords: Analysis error, subject-verb agreement, writing narrative text

Abstract

This research aims to explore pedagogical innovation by implementing crossword puzzle to enhance students’vocabulary mastery of XI IPA students at MA Miftahul Qulub, Polagan Galis Pamekasan. From the problems that has been found on the observation before, like: Monotonous Teaching Method, Limited Practice Opportunities, Difficulty in Retention, Lack of Active Learning, and Ineffective Assessment in teaching vocabulary so the Classroom Action Research could be the solution. The steps of CAR: Reconnaissance, Planning, Action and Observation, and Reflection. The result of research found that the mean score in pre-test =61.42 cycle 1= 62.14, cycle 2=91.78. There were 28, 6% students passed KKM on pre-test, on cycle 1 just 42, 8% students and 100% students passed the KKM on cycle 2. It proved that the implementation of crossword puzzle can enhance the students’ vocabulary mastery of XI IPA class at MA Miftahul Qulub Polagan Galis Pamekasan

Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasaInggris (speaking skill) merupakan salah satu aspek penting yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa di tingkat menengah atas, namun sering kali menjadi tantangan besar bagi banyak siswa. English Club sebagai sarana untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran English Club dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa tingkat menengah atas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan mengumpulkan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan kegiatan English Club di sekolah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa English Club dapat meningkatkan rasa percaya diri siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris, memperluas kosa kata mereka, serta mendorong siswa untuk berinteraksi lebih aktif dalam bahasaInggris. Meskipun demikian, tantangan seperti kurangnya waktu menjadi hambatan dalam mengoptimalkan program ini. Penulis rekomendasi untuk memberikan dukungan dari pihak sekolah dan pengembangan kegiatan yang lebih variatif dan menarik.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study investigated the impact of using board games into English vocabulary instruction for eleventh-grade students at MA Miftahul Ulum Bettet. Data were collected through classroom observations, structured interviews with five students and the teacher, and document analysis (lesson plans, student reflections). Thematic analysis revealed that board games significantly enhanced student engagement and motivation, fostering collaborative learning and contextualized vocabulary acquisition. Students reported increased enjoyment and improved vocabulary retention compared to traditional methods. While challenges related to time management and instructional alignment were identified, the findings strongly suggest that board games offer a valuable and effective supplementary approach to vocabulary instruction, aligning with constructivist and experiential learning principles.

Abstract

This study aims to produce speaking materials based on the students’ need and interests of Contextual Teaching Learning Approach. This research uses Research and Development design. In the context of the study, the researcher used questionnaire and interview guide. The draft of developed material focused on speaking and it was developed based on curriculum 2013. There are 11 units in this developed material.The researcher found that the materials was appropriate to the students. The students were interested to the topics so they were anthusiastic to speak in the class. It was because they thought that they really knew about the topic and it made them easy to prticipate the lesson. The students also interested with some pictures that display their classmate . It encourage them to read the materials anthusiasly.

Abstract

This study was purposed to describe the difficulties in linguistics faced by the students in studying Speaking and the ways taken by the lecturer in solving the students’ linguistics difficulties in studying Speaking at English Education Department of Universitas Islam Madura.The research design was descriptive and the subject of the study was fourth semester students and Speaking Lecturer of English Education Department. The data were collected by observing the Speaking lecturer and interviewing the six students and speaking lecturer. They were analyzed descriptively. The finding showed that the materials used in teaching speaking are Describing Object, Simple present and Vocabulary. Meanwhile, the strategies which are used by the lecturer are lecturing, individual task, group discussion, students’ performance and role play. The Speaking lecturer had some ways to solve the linguistic difficulties by making the class attractive, giving more detailed explanation and some exercises, giving more detailed explanation in the usage of tenses and some exercises, giving the vocabulary , and identifying the difficulties dealing with the students’ condition.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of sticky note media and clustering approaches in the teaching of writing recount texts at SMAN 3 Pamekasan. When producing recount texts, many students struggle with concept organization and consistency. In order to overcome these obstacles, the instructor used sticky notes in conjunction with the clustering strategy to help the students write better. One English instructor at SMAN 3 Pamekasan was the subject of this qualitative case study, and information was gathered via documentation, semi-structured interviews, and observation. An interactive model that included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing was used to examine the data. According to the results, students’ creativity and organizational skills were greatly enhanced by the clustering technique using sticky notes. Sticky notes' adaptability and visual format made it easier for pupils to organize and link their ideas. The teachers thought well of the approach, observing a rise in student engagement and motivation. Modeling and guided practice helped to overcome the initial bewilderment of the students and the restricted availability of materials. The study comes to the conclusion that this method supports critical thinking and active involvement in addition to improving students' writing skills, which is in line with curriculum objectives.
