Abstract

This study aims to (1) develop instructional materials for ʿIlm al-Maʿani grounded in literary appreciation and (2) examine the feasibility of these materials. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model, the study was conducted in three stages: preliminary study and needs analysis, development, and evaluation. The results indicate that the developed ʿIlm al-Maʿani materials, which integrate literary texts, text comprehension, appreciation of aesthetic values, and mastery of ʿIlm al-Maʿani concepts, are comprehensive. The materials include clearly defined learning objectives, content, instructional methods, and evaluation tools. Expert and teacher validation yielded a score of 93.4, placing the materials in the “highly feasible” category. Student evaluations rated the materials as “excellent,” with an average score of 90.8. These findings suggest that incorporating literary appreciation into balaghah instruction enhances both feasibility and learner engagement. The significance of this research lies in linking balaghah with literature through the integration of literary texts in the developed materials. Furthermore, the study contributes to producing ʿIlm al-Maʿani instructional materials that emphasize literary appreciation and are ready for direct implementation at the university level.

Abstract

Teacher burnout is frequently accompanied by unmanaged anger that disrupts instructional quality and professional stability. This study aims to analyze the forms of teacher anger, identify anger management strategies applied in classroom settings, and examine their impact on burnout and teaching quality. Using a qualitative case-based approach, data were collected from teachers through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were examined using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that anger, manifested in verbal reactions, nonverbal expressions, and internal emotional suppression, is linked to emotional exhaustion. Teachers applied physiological regulation, cognitive reframing, spiritual-reflective practices, and controlled behavioral responses as management strategies. These strategies were associated with reduced emotional exhaustion, improved teacher–student relationships, more conducive classroom climates, and strengthened professional conduct. This study contributes by positioning anger as a specific operational dimension within burnout discourse. The findings imply that structured emotional regulation training should be integrated into teacher professional development programs.

Abstract

This study examines the role of dzikir as a cognitive reprogramming intervention in transforming internalized negative beliefs among Muslim students. Rooted in the intersection of Islamic education, cognitive psychology, and emerging neuro-religious perspectives, the study addresses how repetitive parental narratives such as “life is difficult” or “earning money is hard” contribute to the formation of maladaptive cognitive schemas and scarcity-oriented mindsets. Despite the growing body of research on cognitive restructuring, the integration of Islamic spiritual practices into contemporary psychological frameworks remains limited. This study employs a convergent mixed-methods design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative data were collected through a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design involving 80 participants and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and effect size analysis. Qualitative data were obtained from semi-structured interviews with 20 participants and analyzed using thematic analysis to explore participants’ lived experiences and cognitive transformation processes. The findings reveal statistically significant improvements in cognitive belief orientation, including a reduction in scarcity mindset and an increase in positive life orientation and self-efficacy (p < .001). Effect size analysis indicates a strong practical impact of the intervention. Qualitative findings further highlight three key themes: internalized negative narratives, emergence of cognitive awareness, and the transformative role of dzikir in reshaping internal dialogue and emotional states. These results suggest that structured and meaning-oriented dzikir practices can serve as an effective culturally grounded approach to cognitive restructuring. While the study does not directly measure neural activity, the findings provide indirect evidence of possible neurocognitive adaptation associated with repetitive spiritual practices. This study contributes to the development of a Neuro-Religious Cognitive Reprogramming Framework, bridging Islamic spiritual praxis and cognitive science. The findings also offer practical implications for integrating dzikir-based interventions into Islamic education and counseling to promote healthier cognitive patterns and improved psychological well-being.

Abstract

This study critically reinterprets Surah Yasin beyond its dominant ritualistic framing by developing an interdisciplinary model of Qur’anic cosmology that integrates Qur’anic exegesis, Islamic astronomy, and environmental science. Existing scholarship on the Qur’an and science remains largely fragmentary, relying on verse-based analyses that overlook the structural coherence of a single surah as a unified system of meaning. Addressing this gap, the study employs a qualitative library-based approach using thematic tafsir combined with interdisciplinary analysis of celestial and environmental phenomena. The findings demonstrate that Surah Yasin presents a systemic representation of the cosmos, encompassing celestial motion, orbital dynamics (falak), temporal cycles, and ecological processes as interconnected components within a coherent framework. This integrated structure reflects patterned regularities that align conceptually with contemporary scientific perspectives without reducing the Qur’anic text to scientific claims. The study concludes that Surah Yasin can be conceptualized as a model of Qur’anic cosmology that functions as an epistemological framework for understanding the relationship between revelation and the natural world. This research contributes to advancing interdisciplinary discourse on Islam and science by shifting the analytical focus from fragmented verse-based interpretation toward a surah-based systemic paradigm.

Abstract

The practice of mokel eating or drinking secretly during the fasting hours of Ramadan represents a unique socio-religious phenomenon within Indonesian Muslim communities, yet it has rarely been examined in academic literature beyond moral or normative perspectives. Most existing studies frame the practice merely as a violation of religious obligations, overlooking the complex social dynamics that shape religious behavior in communal contexts. This study aims to analyze mokel practices through the lens of performative piety and hidden deviance to better understand the tension between publicly displayed religiosity and privately concealed religious transgression during Ramadan. The research addresses the following questions: (1) how do individuals who engage in mokel negotiate their religious identity within a community that strongly upholds the norms of Ramadan fasting? and (2) what socio-religious factors contribute to the emergence and persistence of mokel practices in Muslim society? This study employs a qualitative research design using a socio-religious approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation within selected Muslim communities where mokel practices are socially recognized. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of religious behavior, social expectations, and individual rationalization. The findings reveal that mokel practices are not simply acts of individual religious deviance but reflect a complex negotiation between social pressure to demonstrate public piety and personal limitations in fulfilling religious obligations. Individuals who engage in mokel often maintain outward participation in religious rituals to preserve social belonging while privately managing their religious shortcomings. This dynamic illustrates the coexistence of performative piety and hidden deviance within communal religious life, highlighting the gap between normative religious ideals and lived religious practices. The study contributes to broader discussions in the sociology of religion by offering a new perspective on hidden religious behavior in Muslim societies during Ramadan
